"Most people know me, but don't know my story. At the age of 3, I watched my father leave.
I attended four different high schools and struggled with dyslexia, making my education more challenging than it is for most. Eventually I left high school without earning a diploma.
At the age of 23, my closest friend River Phoenix died of a drug overdose. In 1998, I met Jennifer Syme. We fell instantly in love and by 1999, Jennifer was pregnant with our daughter. Sadly, after eight months, our child was born stillborn. We were devastated by her death and it eventually ended our relationship. 18 months later, Jennifer died in a car accident. Since then I avoid serious relationships and having kids.
My younger sister had lukemia. Today she is cured, and I donated 70% of my gains from the movie Matrix to Hospitals that treat leukemia. I am one of the only Hollywood stars without a Mansion. I don't have any bodyguards and do not wear fancy clothes. And even though I'm worth $100 million, I still ride the subway and I love it!
So in the end, I think we can all pretty well agree that even in the face of tragedy, a stellar person can thrive. No matter what's going on in your life, you can overcome it!

He's resilient but it's also easier to be when you're making 20 million a movie. Still, I like his point of view, he has put his money to a good use by not cumulating houses, cars, jewels, etc.....You're owned by what you own. There's no point of making that much money and being in a constant state of anxiety about the things you have. And yes, there are things money can't buy. Or at least can't buy back.

Apparently he gave all of his earnings for the both the Matrix sequals to the crew, telling them that he already had made more money than he needed and felt that they had contributed more to the movies than he had.
"Everyone's favorite space cadet, Keanu Reeves, is one generous dude. The Speed actor has reportedly given away a huge chunk of change to some of The Matrix crew. Reeves signed off on a deal that transferred his profit-sharing points to the sci-fi franchise's special effects and costume design crew. The Wall Street Journal quoted an unnamed movie exec who said Reeves " … felt that they were the ones who made the movie and that they should participate."
Apparently the Constantine actor also shared his sky-high stacks on The Devil's Advocate, too. Reeves let producers skim a few million from his bank so they could afford the wicked John Milton AKA Al Pacino. Later on, he followed suit with The Replacements so he could work with Gene Hackman. Thanks to generous back-end deals on The Matrix franchise, Reeves should be set for life — particularly since he seems more interested in playing in a band and sadly eating a sandwich than flaunting his dough."

This is an urban legend. Over the summer Dan Labatard interviewed a costume/set designer from the Matrix and asked if Keanu really donated millions to the crew, the person said he was extremely generous and very nice but no one got money from him giving away his option.

Keanu Reeves knows how to treat his movie crew right -- the guy handed his 'John Wick' stuntmen new watches as a thank-you for their services. Oh, and they were Rolexes!.
The veteran actor, who's beloved in Hollywood, kept his nice-guy rep going strong over the weekend ... when he dished out brand-new 2020 Submariners to 4 guys in Paris, who went to the mat for him on camera -- this as "John Wick 4" completed filming.
One of the stuntmen, Jeremy Marinas, took to social media to post photos of the Rolexes ... writing "Best wrap gift ever." He showed closeups of the timepiece, which was even engraved with a custom message, courtesy of Keanu and co.
Looks like each stunt guy got his own name etched in, as well as being assigned a number ... Jeremy here appears to have been the fifth "John Wick," as it were. KR is probs #1.
JM also got a shot of all the stuntmen (plus Keanu) holding their watches close together in unison -- and it's pretty freaking awesome, especially when you consider the retail price tag here comes in just under $10k a pop.
Like we said, this makes for a great gesture from Keanu -- and speaks to how much he appreciates folks who work behind the scenes and help bring his projects to fruition.
It also follows in the footsteps of great presents from bosses lately -- like Spanx CEO Sara Blakely, who also did it big for her staff.

Keanu has an agent who negotiates his salary, points, backend, distribution and his salary is broken down. For a film so reliant on special effects, script and set design as the Matrix, Keanu took less up front and a larger part of the backend, realizing how important the special effects and set design crew was for the success of the Matrix in the negotiations. Alec Guiness, who played Obi Wan Kinobi did the same thing in that he made the lowest salary of the whole Star Wars cast but negotiated almost 10 times the backend of the other Star Wars actors and made $80 million just from Star Wars by 2000. It can work the other way too. Stallone was the highest paid paid actor in Hollywood with Cliffhanger and Demolition Man, but fucked his career by taking scale to do Copland, thinking getting Deniro, Keitel, Liotta and all those guys right after the successes of Casino and Goodfellas would give a bigger backend but the film disappointed at the box office and Stallone never got an A list salary again. Same in sports. There is a salary cap, so guys like Lebron James often take a mild up front salary pay cut to go to the Lakers because of a championship history, visibility, the marketing aspect of being in L.A.,etc and he ends up making much more. James Harden of the Brooklyn Nets has a higher salary than Lebron but do you think he makes more money? That's where having a good agent comes into play.

When he was a broke actor his prize possession was a Norton motorcycle. When he made it big he had it fully restored. He parked it in a parking space and woman backed up and ran over it. When he came back the cops were there for the accident report. He told the woman don't worry about it. There is a youtube that shows him arriving back to his bike where he parked it.
