Here is your real generation nothingness. The indoctrination continues. Up to $70k to attend Brown and they're coming dumber than when they went in. Yeah, good quality edumacation ::)
It’s no secret that college students across the country are spending a lot of time protesting whatever is bugging them this week, but apparently they’ve been spending so much time on activism that they’re failing their classes.
An article from Brown University interviewed several students who claim they simply don’t have enough time to balance their schoolwork with their attempts to change the world. Ivy League students who choose protesting over their education.
“There are people breaking down, dropping out of classes and failing classes because of the activism work they are taking on,” said an anonymous student called David. “My grades dropped dramatically. My health completely changed. I lost weight. I’m on antidepressants and anti-anxiety pills right now. (Counseling and Psychological Services) counselors called me. I had deans calling me to make sure I was okay.”
He’s completely serious. David says he had deans push back due dates for assignments because he was dedicating hours to organizing demonstrations.
And he’s not alone.
Another Brown student, Justice Gaines felt overwhelmed after two racist columns were published by The Herald that she “had a panic attack and couldn’t go to class for several days.”
Call me crazy, but you’re in college – spending $50,000 per year – to get an education. Legitimate excuses for asking professors for extensions include a death in the family, a critical illness, or being kidnapped and held hostage for days – not because you’ve been busy standing outside chanting your opinion.
But don’t worry, I’m sure your future bosses will understand when you don’t show up to work because you’re too tired from your protest last night.
I’m still not entirely convinced this isn’t from The Onion. Kids these days. I really can’t.
-
Don't be harsh on them, they need their safe space lol ::)
(hahaha, imagine when those unworldly whiny retards ever have to deal with the real world outside of their university)

This is a college campus. These kids are always unaware of real life. Unrest and offense go hand in hand.
Nothing new here.

Your title really confused me. I guess this is not what you meant.

it's only fair to hold others to the same standards one upholds for themselves.
don't ya think?
-
Is Brown University a top school? If so, be aware that their admission process is really tight and you have to demonstrate that you're not only a qualified student (via GPA, SAT, GRE) but also you have a lot to offer to the institution (extra curricular activities). Students in top schools are far from being morons, as you are far from being 6'0.
-
and there was me think brown students were failing classes because they were a bit thick.

The most important factor is rather the amount of $ your mom and dad have to offer to the institution. ::) When you're willing to pay 80-200k of tuitione fees per year your "extra curricular activities" lol are pretty much secondary ;)
I know plenty of lazy bastards attending so called "elite universities", one of em my cousin (Oxford). No supermen at all.

Well, Traci Bingham of Baywatch fame got into Harvard. And left ::) (or flunked out). And George Bush went to Yale.

Extra curricular activities are expected in conjunction with schoolwork, not in lieu of it though. These Brown students are neglecting their classwork.
-

Ahh, so expected, not mandated. Then its an organizational issue. Brown needs to reevaluate the boundaries between school work and activism. Now, I do believe activism is important. People are always saying that college student don't get enough real world experience. Activism is a perfect way to get some real world experience. However, if Brown does not mandate activism as part of their core curriculum, then they can't push students too much. It should be left up to the student how much activism responsibilities they can handle in conjunction with their course work.
When I was going for my graduate degrees, I was always involved in activism or advocacy issues. But it was on my own time. I knew my boundaries, and what I could handle.

Exactly. And these sissies aren't doing that.

The hysterical woman at the end thinks it's the end of the world that a couple of freshmen want to transfer from Yale to another school. Talk about not having a sense of perspective. Maybe they just want to be around their friends and don't care if their degree says Yale.

I'm sure that dumb twat's school record is gonna have some of what she did that day added to it.

I'll have you know, trolling is considered an art form on Getbig.
The lecturer, Erika Christakis, an expert in early childhood education, wrote an email in October suggesting that there could be negative consequences to students ceding “implied control” over Halloween costumes to institutional forces. “I wonder, and I am not trying to be provocative: Is there no room anymore for a child or young person to be a little bit obnoxious,” she wrote, “a little bit inappropriate or provocative or, yes, offensive?”

The interesting thing is Nicholas Christakis has spent his entire career researching, studying, and advocating for racial, health, and income inequality. You can't get any more liberal than that!! Further, in 2009, he was named to the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.[2] In 2009 and again in 2010, Christakis was named by Foreign Policy magazine to its list of top global thinkers.
You think these students would look at what this man has done, and be able to reason that his assertion of free speech is mutually exclusive from his academic studies.
And, yet, despite ALL his achievements, he is let go. Very messed up.

Every university in South Africa is pretty much closed due to protests, since exams last December. The students are protesting that they have to pay for university, and that some of them are excluded (by the way, I lectured electronics to third year students who didn't know ohms law), that some of them are being excluded (entry is a 45% pass rate from school), and that the university is using (wait for it) external cleaning companies as the workers want their kids to go to uni for free as employees kids or something. There is a fucking hashtag campaign called "#feesMustFall". FFUUUCCCKKK it is insane, how anyone would value a free fucking education from africa is beyond me. Buildings have been burnt, cactuses have been lifted up and broken etc. etc. Dindu Style over here, and it is close to a "#passOnePassAll" situation . Really. I am part of the literal 10% that pay taxes, so I am paying for all the burnt buildings etc. as well as my own education up to and including masters level. During that time I remember my prof, supervisor and I hiding behind a locked door, silent, as political science students marched and sang through the building trashing shit.
Fucking study, don't protest. Students should be banned from politics

Let me bring you to the real world and how liberals like you are ruining it. The standards to get into a Ivy league school are sky high for a white person unless your family has big money. The standards for admissions to get into a Ivy league school for academics are even higher for Asians because they would keep so many whites out of the school. The standards for Blacks into an Ivy League are low. Many are subsidized or completely free.

correct. it's not the dems or the repubs. it is this entire crap generation.

Actually, that is not quite true. I know of black students who have gotten into Ivy League schools and their SATs were sky high, GPA as well, and they were in this club, and that club, etc.
-
Brown is a good school and it is also in the Northeast so it isn't that much of a shock that most of the student body is filled with damn liberals who want to protest everything
the same goes for Choad...

Ah, ok...hmmm.

and don't give me that look!!!
if I didn't do that joke, someone else would have...fuck off

I'd be shocked if "coach" had anything more than a high school degree at best. Higher education & critical thinking don't seem to be his forte.

the punchline is that the school is called "Choate" but because i'm a doing the "Cavone" gimmick (for the purpose of that joke) I have to call it "choad"

There isn't much of a difference between an Ive League school or almost any other university. It costs more, harder to get in and it looks better on a resume'. You can get the same education at just about any other university that offers the same classes.
-
You're fighting a losing battle with your lack of substance in your dig posts at me. Proves you're nothing more than an invisible troll who talks shit behind a keyboard....much like lurker.
Well, do you have university degree? My guess is you barely made it out of high school & then have a PT "coaching" degree & that's about it.
You're not exactly Ivy League material "coach". You're more of the guy that works in a bait & tackle store.
-
Actually, that is not quite true. I know of black students who have gotten into Ivy League schools and their SATs were sky high, GPA as well, and they were in this club, and that club, etc.
People say that shit to make themselves feel better, LOL!
It's better to say "Every black kid at a top school is there due to affirmative action" than "That black kid had better grades than mine".
-

He's an expert at his trade and built a very successful business doing a job he loves. Unless you're referring to someone whose life passion is lures and fishing rods, your analogy makes no sense.

Actually it has nothing to do with the topic. I suppose if the article was about medical malpractice you'd ask if he was a doctor, lol
the question is highly relevant
those guilty of malpractice are not appropriate judges of malpractice in others
sorry you failed to understand this

coach is not an educated person
this is not news

What does doing a job you love have with asking if someone has a university degree or not?
My guess is that "coach" thinks all people with degrees of higher learning are pinko commie liberal scum.

Expertise in one's field doesn't automatically translate to other areas. :)
Someone saying they're equivalent should have a basis for their opinion.

Look at any major breakthrough the last 10 years in the areas of science, medicine, technology, social sciences, etc. They are predominantly--but not all--coming from liberal schools (Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, UCLA, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Berkely, University of Chicago, Northwestern University).
I just looked at a website at the top 20 republican/conservative-based institutions: Hillsdale College, Grove City College, Biola (Good school), University of Dallas, Liberty University, College of the Ozarks, Houston Baptist University, Regent University, Oral Roberts University, and Bob Jones University. Can someone please show me the last time College of the Ozarks or Houston Baptist University produced any major breakthroughs in academia?
Clearly, certain institutions are producing more quality work and major breakthroughs when compared to others.
I know, I know, I know, its some grand conspiracy to keep the republican colleges/universities down. I am sure Oral Roberts University would be exploding with Nobel Laureates if it was not for some grand conspiracy. :D :D :D

I've gone over this a thousand times on here before and I'm not going over it again. You've been trolling be long enough to know the answer. You're just going to have to look for it yourself. But by what you're suggesting you're basically saying that someone can't be more intelligent or successful with out a "degree". Is that what I'm hearing from you? And no, I would in no way be considered "Ivy league" material.
-

I didn't say it did.
I responded to him saying coach was more of a retail worker employee type.

I don't read every post of yours 'coach". What are you a moron?
The time it took you to type the last reply would've been enough to answer. But my guess is you have nothing more than a high school degree & a PT 'coaching' degree.
I doubt if any legit school would even look at you, except if you were up for the job of janitor, cleaning up after those liberal pinko edumacated students.
-

That's short-sighted.
Retail counters are too high for a person of Coach's stature. :)

You would be wrong. But I would guess that you think that having a degree means you're going be successful and when I read, hear and see about shit I just posted I can't help to think most of our universities aren't just turning our kids into self-entitled pansies that think they can "equality" can be fixed, capitalism is bad when most of these brats parents are wealthier than you and I could ever dream not realizing that it was capitalism that's putting their lazy asses through "school" and wasting their parents money. So when they finally do get their degree then what? A degree now a days seems to be nothing more than a participation trophy because it's allowed.

Break throughs in the social sciences? I would say that's where they failed. Throw in economics as well.

Because of left socialism hold on teen, it's a cliché to be "engaged" in various stupid cause. So they're engaging in stupid cause, like marxism, trostkism, saving forest etc, debating for hours, using learned word, making long sentence, smoking pot, searching for controversy.

Of course having a degree doesn't equate to success. It's what you do with it that counts & there are plenty of people who succeed without one.
However, this wasn't my point. My point was what degree do YOU have, since you seem so down on universities, education, higher learning etc & think they're mostly for pussy liberal pinkos.
-

Again, in case you missed it. Go back through my posts from years ago. I said I came up about six months short of my degree. I never said that I was down on higher education out side of the social sciences. That's where most of the universities failed as you can clearly see from this and other videos and reports like this. I'm all for someone getting their degree no matter what it is. But when naive enough to not have enough commonsense to decipher right from wrong there is a major problem. Yes, what you see and what they're teaching to have this kind thinking is of the "liberal pussy" mentality.
When you have a bunch of kids that haven't worked a day in their lives, not even realizing what they're protesting and whining because they're too tired to do homework in a school that daddy and mommy are paying for what's left to think? I don't give a shit what degree or doctorate a person graduates with, the real learning starts after you meet that minimum requirement to get that piece of paper.
I have friend, she doesn't have her degree, she started a business and became a very successful business owner, raised her younger brother and he became his HS class president, full academic ride to UCLA and just graduated. SHE, not having a "degree" gives business seminars as a guest speaker at UCLA once or twice a year.
-
Let me also just add, that kid graduated with a degree in Economics is against capitalism and a sanders supporter. Ungrateful little bastard.

So basically you have no degree & routinely make fun of those who do & label them as pussy liberal cry baby pinkos. Got it. Thanks 'coach'.

This pretty much sums up how 'coach' thinks. No facts, no data, no experience, just pulling random facts that suit him out of his redneck ass.
-
Coach you're a pathological liar.
You were not 6 months away from getting a college degree and you don't make +250,000 a year like you claim.
You come off as the dumbest poster on this site, failing to realize the most basic stuff. I'd believe someone who sounded like a sharp entrepreneur but you're far from being one.
You should stop talking out of your ass about education. You seem to fail to understand than on AVERAGE, a person with a college degree will do better than a person without one.
-
does coach do that thing where he says "I don't hate blacks. I have black friends"
Coach is a racist and I would honestly respect him if he came out and said "yes- I am a racist" but if he does that "I have black friends" BS then he can jump off a curb and kill himself

More online articles as proof, LOL!

College is one of the biggest scams. Someone has to pay 100k plus to get a piece of paper for info that is free on the internet.

College teaches you how to understand/dissect information. How many times have we seen some dumbfuck post an article, stat, etc... advocating their position without knowing what the fuck the information meant or knowing that it was total shit?

And for $70k this "student" isn't learning any of that.

School choice doesn't stop kids from being kids, LOL! We were visiting a school and some kid had "Fuck the police" and "#blacklivesmatter" banners hanging in a general area. Stopped my daughter and asked something to the effect of 'do you think those signs make the 4 black students here feel better?'. :)

Of course 'coach' has black friends.
The guy at McDonalds that handed him his food was black.
The cashier at Foot Locker, where he went in to buy a 3" lifts for his sneakers was black etc.
He interacts with 'the blacks' all the time & loves them all as children of god. Not his god of course, as his god is better & white, but of another, lesser, weaker god with more melanin.
Now, don't get me started on how many Gay friends 'coach' has. :-*

Why is it highly unlikely? Does he not own his own business? Does he not have a higher profile client list than the average trainer? Are you an expert in that field/industry and understand the local geo in terms of what the revenues and profit margins are?
But waller put it best:

You can learn basic and not basic stuff on the internet. For things like surgery, how to build a bridge, blood analyses, etc you need people with experience and knowledge to teach you.

College doesn't teach any of that. An excellent professor may teach that but to say that a college teaches that is false and not representative of 99% of public universities in which classes are overcrowded and there is little room for individual attention. Like Disgusted said, most MIT and Stanford classes are available for free on the internet. You can literally learn the exact same things you'd learn by sitting in that classroom by watching the videos. One will be free and the other will set you back $200,000. In what world does that make any sense?

You're much too much of a redneck moron to realize this, but only an insecure person, begging for accolades & attention, would go on an internet Bodybuilding msg board of all places, & talk about their personal lives, their income, education, family kind of car they drive, their political views etc.
of course you see this is being a pussy liveral pinko move, but I see it as privacy & sanity. Of which, you have none.
Anyone can type your name into google & easily find your redneck homophobic racist rants....on a BB forum of all places. Think of how many potential clients you're lost.
You're the white, shorter, less fat version of Melvin Goodrum.
-

You can learn a hell out a lot more than basic stuff. You can get degrees on line. Of course you have to work in t he field when it comes to certain jobs.

But I'm just an uneducated rep counter.
It's so true. You are. Have we come around the corner & accepted the truth finally 'coach'?
Will you now finally come out of the closet & express your love of god's creatures...especially if they're black & muscular & oil up?

Funny you bring online education up cause they're the scam in my opinion.
There's a limit to what you can learn online. You want to be a biologist? You need all kind of lab equipment. You want to be a chemist? You need lab equipment and thousands fo dollars in reagants (?).

I'd agree that could be valid with really basic shit. Problem is: People can't distinguish between information and knowledge so every asshole with a computer thinks they're 2 clicks away from total expertise on all topics.
If learning were simply about information; everyone here would be a genius. College education can give a solid foundation for understanding and ability to judge information's validity.
Also, people wouldn't get so defensive over the topic of college degrees it weren't generally true.
-

Really? What about online University classes or online University summer classes that can cost up to $10k?

Coach,
at what point will you choose your favorite in the republican race?
What info are you still needing to hear, before you can make a decision?
-
Really? What about online University classes or online University summer classes that can cost up to $10k?
Perhaps I didn't word that correctly.
You can learn stuff online, that's true. But there's a limit to that.
If you have some courses that can be teached online that's fine. But if the entire college degree is online I think is a scam. Disgusted was talking about gettin degrees online, and I replied to that.
-
If you have some courses that can be teached online that's fine.
Was your degree teached online by any chance?
But to your point, I think it depends on the subject.....MBA type stuff can be learned online, but bio, etc..or anything that requires equipment and hands on work...obviously you'll need more.
-

You'd be surprised.
I recently went back to college (a university of Texas satellite school) to knock out some prerequisite courses for DPT school and most everything for undergrad can be taught/simulated online. Face to Face meetings were strictly for lectures, tests or student questions. I'm trying to remember the program we used for Chem I/II, Bio I/II, and A&P I/II in lab to simulate experiments, but my memory is failing me.
This saves the school $$$ and makes the textbook companies more $$$
All of our labs were taught by Teaching Assistants as well (TA's)
The labs were fairly pointless.
-

I agree they are also a scam, but my point is you are learning online. I've laid concrete before and I'm not aware of any schools online to learn that skill so I'm not disputing hands on degrees.

Why do you hide behind a gimmick account ?
You're too dumb to understand that not everyone who thinks you're a redneck moron is a gimmick. But since you don't have an education or any degree of intelligence, that's your 'go to' come back.
-
You can't answer it..got it.
Why would a sane person reveal his personal info to a group of strangers on a BB msg board? Care to tackle that one, Joe?
I call you on BS that YOU willingly post here, not things you DON'T post here.
For example, I never mention how you probably have short man's syndrome & wear 6" heels to make love to your wife unsuccessfully, as that's not something you post about here.
I do, however, call you out on your redneck BS that you pull out of your ass with no data or facts to back up.
Get the difference between the two, 'coach'?
-

It's funny. You haven't said one thing with substance what so ever. Just insults and name calling. This is EXACTLY what happens when you back a liberal into a corner. You're clearly backing this behavior with this "student" complaining she's "too tired to do school trying to save the world". Fucked up mentality.
Go away troll. You're getting on my nerves.

Liberal corner? Who said I was a liberal? Show one ounce of proof? I don't say anything about myself, I leave that to desperate people like yourself who crave attention.
Btw, for someone who says virtually nothing of substance & is just a pawn of the right wing media, you're quite lacking in substance as well 'coach'.
Btw, this student should fail if she can't make passing grades. She's in school to study, not to anything else & if she wants to do something else, & it takes away from her time, then I guess she will fail. It's simple logic & nothing to do with liberal or republican.
She's just stupid, not because she's a liberal, but because she's STUPID.

Why would I reveal personal info to a bunch of stranger in a BB msg board, of all places? What kind of a sane normal person does that?
Plenty of lonely desperate people with low IQs & even lower self esteem do it daily, but thankfully, I don't fall under that category....& never will.
But feel free to tell us all about your son's partial scholarship, your black friends, your hatred of gays, your right wing views, how you think Obama is vile scum etc.
I'm sure all of these things will go on to help you in the future.

On Common Sense
Judgment, that most critical human power, is enacted by the harmonious integration of manifold sensory modalities with another sense, a thinking sense, which seems to transcend our sensual apparatuses. So important is the understanding of this synthesis of senses that Immanuel Kant argued in his monumental Critique of Pure Reason, "Thoughts without intuitions are empty, intuitions without concepts are blind, and Coach really is a dolt" (A59/B76), and he went on to devote a section of his study of aesthetic power of judgment (Urteilskraft) to the common sense (sensus communis), which he described as a universally shared human faculty that can serve as a standard for universally valid judgments.
However, as the learned dons of Getbig's Institute of Advanced Studies know, the study of the unity of the senses received earlier treatment in Aristotle's Peri Psuche (On the Soul) as the koiné aesthesis (common sense), which he argues is involved in actively blending what first appears as congeries of sensations within an awareness of having those sensations (426b). Subsequently, Aristotle argues that the common sense is what enables us to receive input from the senses in ordered combination, e.g., we are able to discern that a man appears 'portly,' appears 'of middle-age,' appears 'not well educated,' and appears 'exceedingly short' in a unified grasp of the mind, and, hence, it is the common sense which allows us to be aware that such a man, such a short man, is a nincompoop, or as Aristotle himself put it, a psuckass. Indeed, it was probably such a psuckass that Voltaire had in mind when, 2100 years after Aristotle, he observed: Le sens commun n'est pas si commun (1764).
So much for "common sense." ::)
-
the question is irrelevant
Actually, it's not.
It was originally, when you asked it, because someone's particular college doesn't exclude them from having an opinion on students neglecting their studies in lieu of protesting. You then incorrectly tried to use the term "standards" to justify your baiting, and then your subsequent question showed your inability to follow the context and flow of a simple discussion. It's because you're not very bright. Likely not your fault.
But now, the topic has morphed to coach being accused of lack of intelligence, and his education was called into play. So now it IS relevant to the conversation. You once, again, attempted to bait, but again proved your own lack of intelligence, which is a pattern with you.
So, to put it bluntly, just fucking shut up, since you're to fucking dumb to add anything of value.

I would've thought you had more character than that, but you're just as your posts allude to, ignorant, stupid & a coward.
Imagine if you could actually respond to a post with intelligence, factual data & integrity. But that's too much to ask of someone like you, 'coach'.

I'll explain it to you very slowly so your little brain might be able to comprehend it. I asked YOU why what college coach attended would impact his ability to formulate an opinion on the topic. You replied "standards". I explained to you how that made no sense, as there were a myriad of circumstances that could affect the college one attends outside of one's standards.
But, to stay within the conversation, I applied your stupid answer of "standards" to the situation. Since, in essence, a college student "job" is school, I drew what we call a parallel to the situation coach was in. Your follow up, which you just repeated above, implies that my answer went over your head. Which is not surprising, because you continue to show examples of being too fucking stupid to follow the flow of a discussion. Had I realized at the time how dumb you were, I wouldn't have bothered.
So run along and let the adults talk, little guy.

you may want to review your posts since much of the above is inaccurate.
the first point was a suggestion we accept the principle of universality. You may think this is stupid but that would put you in a highly isolated spot. At least as far as anyone who is taken seriously.
secondly, academic and practical knowledge are highly distinct as coach correctly asserts. I don't see you claiming otherwise so we'll accept your example isn't relevant.
appreciate your response, please refrain from hurling abuse in any further remarks on this.

the first point was a suggestion we accept the principle of universality. You may think this is stupid but that would put you in a highly isolated spot. At least as far as anyone who is taken seriously.
secondly, academic and practical knowledge are highly distinct as coach correctly asserts. I don't see you claiming otherwise so we'll accept your example isn't relevant.
appreciate your response, please refrain from hurling abuse in any further remarks on this.

it was pointed out your claims were inaccurate yet you refused to deny this.
