I think Trump purposely botched the birth certificate issue in 2012 - so that it'd be a walking joke - so that obama would remain credible, Romney would lose, and hilary would step right in when 2016 rolled around. If Romney wins, Hilary has a much tougher battle in 2016, fighting a sitting president.

they don't matter much now, BUT they're accurate. If a person is losing most of the year in most of the polls - they lose the election. All stays equal, with Trump magically winning rassmussen while losing everywhere, then he will lose election.
