Hawaii: the birthplace of Obama, where there are zero Republicans in the State Senate and 5 Republicans out of 51 in the House. A Leftist bastion where we have the highest cost of living in the nation and rank number one as the highest homeless rate again proving that whenever and whereever Liberals are in charge things go to shit.
There were literal riots when Trump won last night. Now after the Trump tax bill, yesterday Bank of Hawaii, Hawaiian Bank and American savings all announced that they will raise their starting pay from $12/hr to $15/hr and giving all their employees (minus the top executives) numbering over two thousand employees each a $1,000 bonus with American savings giving $1,500. That's two million dollars.
Of course they say the banks were going to do this anyway. It had nothing to do with Trump's tax cut.
We just keep winning and the libs just keep melting. BTW, is ISIS still in Iraq? How come I never hear
about them sweeping across the country on their way to conquer the world. I remember how everybody slammed Trump when he was asked how he would handle ISIS and he just replied, "I going to bomb the shit out of them."

Other than simply bombing ISIS into nonexistence would come with environmental and other costs that would probably render that sort of strategy impossible...but I wasn't concerned about the flaws of executing such a strategy. It was just DEEPLY REFRESHING to finally hear a leader address ISIS with such discontent! Every other leader would walk on egg shells to not "offend" the USA's population of Muslims or White liberals. ::) As if wanting to destroy ISIS is the same as wanting to kill innocent Muslims. ::) The left definitely does some major conflation on the regular.
I am very curious to know how the Hawaiian banks look after enacting those pay raises. Not like I need to wait to know how that will turn out for them... :-X

During a debate on one of those talking heads shows, someone representing the left made a very telling admission regarding trying to balance military power and deterrence. He said that Trump's personality is in itself a deterrence.

Trump seems super human. The guy is 70 years old and never seems to sleep and has really established himself as such a force of nature.

bus stops. But if you out in Makaha or the North Shore (where I'm at) it's beautiful. Can't work the waves like I use to but still get that feeling of awe watching the surf at Pipe Line, Sunset and Waimea.

Having Trump as our President gives me pause to reconsider being an Atheist. President Trump is that good and that much of what Christians would call a blessing. Not since Reagan have I been this excited for America.
In truth, I think he will surpass Reagan in some ways and I have doubt that the Great One would approve.

In the USA, they probably have the same selection of magazines [if not more] priced at three for $5 USD. :) I bought a couple of Archie comics to read to my kids, and I threw in a tabloid that featured a Trump story.
The male employee ringing my items through made a comment about Trump - nothing insulting, but something to the effect "He sure does have a lot to say", or something like that. I responded by saying "Yes, he does. It's amazing to me that he is 70, and still going to one speaking engagement after another after another...I'm 35 [at the time - this was in the spring] and I don't have the energy to do what he does." im not saying being a minority, which I am as a white in Hawai‘i, makes it fine for people here to act poorly towards me, but being a private person who does not make a scene at bars and such has resulted in zero problems from anybody.
My brother in law who was stationed here got beat up twice in six months. But he also killed himself after he was caught in bed with a 15 year old girl so you can imagine how he acted in general.

When I was in Maui this was so obvious. You could feel that you were not really wanted there. They just wanted your money. It didn't really affect my vacation because I wasn't there to give two shits about locals. I was more or less focused on spending time with my family and seeing sights, because I probably wouldn't go back again. For the money you spend going to Hawaii you might as well go overseas or to Mexico or something. It's cool to see, but you don't really need to go back once you've seen it in my opinion.

This is true. Typically, the people who have problems are those who create or invite problems, regardless of ethnicity. People from the mainland who bring some of their mainland bad habits will probably encounter problems.
And there is no true ethnic majority in Hawaii. Most diverse state in the country.
But the one party rule sucks. I don’t think it will ever change. It’s generational. They occasionally get one right, like Tulsi Gabbard, but by and large there are some mediocre liberal ideologues in public office. For whatever worthless "reason", libtardians feel that the redistribution of money EARNED by hard working folks should be given to the sloths of society. Often these people that are residentially challenged demand equality with those the consider their betters but refuse to work for it. Instead they bitch, moan and whine about "fairness". They need to get a bath and a job.
Of course some of them are out of their mind junkies and should be place in institutions that can help them. Others are just out of their minds from being out of their mind. Same remedy. Then there are those that are lazy but able to work except for the ones that push a cart filled with aluminum cans. Next up are the people that work the intersections, claiming to be a Veteran or just down on their luck and all they needs is your kindness and "God Bless You". Then they get the $$ for their fix and disappear for the rest of the day. Put 'em away until they get that shit out of their system, give them a bath and tell them to get to work. Help them out by helping them up.
But no more subsidizing stupidity, laziness, wed or unwed "mothers" of multiple litters of offspring and their worthless sperm donors. Welfare was never meant to be a lifestyle. Or was it? If a large number of people are choosing welfare as a lifestyle then it stands to reason that it's a rational choice given the outcomes of the options available to them. The rational solution would be to alter the rules of the game so it's players select the working option.
Most people would agree with that but debate the means by which to implement it. I'd favor a diminishing handout, work and training programs for pay, and a legislated minimum wage that you could live on if you put 40 hrs/week in.
We have major problems when I'm the voice of reason.

But what does that have to do with the issue? Even if you are filthy, filthy rich why is it better
that the government takes your money than letting you keep it? Whose money is it anyway?
A person who earns their wealth always spends it better than the government who just takes
it. There is always an inherent waste in government spending. You're not that tight when you are
spending someone else's money. We do need government but their role should be limited to a
scanty minimum. That's the core of the divide. The role of the government. It's not always whether
something is good or bad but rather who should decide. If you and I are involved in a mutually
agreed transaction why should an uninvolved third party who bears none of the costs or consequences of that transaction have any say as to how much one should charge or how much one should pay. That
applies to everything, whether you are buying and selling cars, shoes or labor.

My neighbor worked 30 years at Jack in the Box. Started from the bottom and ended
up being a store manager making 38 grand a year and building up a decent retirement.
Sure not living large but considering she came from a family of drug addicts some of whom
live on the streets and some on welfare she pulled her own weight and supported herself
since she was 16 yo and raised her son by herself.
This is America. Work hard, don't get in trouble with the law and you'll do OK.

my super liberal friend/retired military at work..yes retired military and is super liberal is weird... kept argueing to me about the tax cuts.. i did the tax calculator online it saved me close to 3000 a year.. i showed him and said we will be both saving money... he says "but hes taking away the child day care tax credit!!"" i said i dont have kids, neither do you... so how does that affect me? almost priceless this guy digs his own grave... i told him if hes so unhappy he can give me that money.. he said he was gonna donate to the poor ::)...true story..they are that brainwashed...
