I don't know why guys would want to do this.
-
Lots of obsession with homosexuality around here.
-
I don't know why guys would want to do this.
Possible reasons:
1) Lack of better opportunities in life.
2) Prove manhood.
3) Like rolling with sweaty men.
4) Like hitting people.
-
It's the new boxing. Combat sports have always been popular.
-
I don't know why guys would want to do this.
5.) suppress homosexual desires
-
when someone brings this up they usually fall into one of two categories.
1. Hardcore boxing fan who is in denial about how even the best professional boxer is easily taken down and mauled by an average high school wrestler.
2. Gay or closeted man fantasizing without recognizing that the deviant behavior isn’t two men fighting — it’s two men having sex.

This.

Personally, I never was into fighting, whether it was boxing, wrestling or now-a-days, cage fighting, etc. I did watch boxing on TV with my step-dad when I was a kid and pro-wrestling with my son. Back in the day, pro-wrestling was fun and entertaining because of the antics of the wrestlers. -Never thought it was real.

And you can be sure that Prime will post on the thread.

Looks like Quentin Tarantino in the title role of the film, "Jackoff Brown" getting a reach-around from Abdul.

I don't know about that. The best MMA guys are strikers at the moment.

Anybody who thinks there is anything sexual about combat sports and grappling simply has not done it. It's a brutal physically demanding sport. Even when training with hot women it's hard to get turned on when they are trying to choke you out or break your arm.
-
I don't know why guys would want to do this.
Some just don't understand that for many it's in their nature to be physically aggressive and need an outlet like MMA, Boxing, Football, Rugby... Even traditional non-contact sports like soccer and basketball has gotten increasingly more physical and aggressive.
It served an evolutionary purpose for our survival. You need a certain mindset to hunt and kill an animal with spears, rocks and makeshift knives. You need a certain mindset to kill another man to protect what's yours.
Jean Paul Sartre once commented that he never felt more alive then when he was at war.
We now live in a very passive, cushy, pampered culture where traditional masculinity is discouraged. Boys today are more than ever raised by women both in school and at home.
The "pussification" of Western men is very real.

I mean the rolling around on the ground part.
In my teens and 20's I was also into boxing and martial arts, but now that I'm older I don't really see the point.

People who say that aren’t stage one of learning. So clueless they don’t realize their own cluelessness. It takes a few months of training to realize how little you know.
-

Not only is your post non-responsive it’s also inaccurate.
Heavyweight: NCAA Wrestling Runner-up and US Olympic wrestler
LH: See above (Cormier is still LH Champ) but Jon Jones was state champ high school wrestler and JUCO national champ as well
Middle: Robert Whitaker is well rounded MMA. Won AUS National Wrestling Tournament in 2015.
Welterweight: Tyron Woodley is 2 time NCAA All American (top 8 in USA) wrestler
Lightweight: Khabib is multiple-time World Sambo (Russian submission wrestling) champ
Featherweight: Max Holloway the only pure striker on the list of UFC champs
Bantamweight: TJ Dillashaw is a 3 time wrestling NCAA qualifier
Flyweight: Henry Cejudo is Wrestling Olympic Gold Medalist

Real men stand up and trade punches until one falls down.
-
I don't know about that. The best MMA guys are strikers at the moment.
Fact is, in a real-world exchange, if one can throw decent punches, in even a one-two combination, the odds favour him being triumphant in a very dramatic way. Doesn’t make much difference if the other has “ground game”.
Quick, aggressive and reasonably-accurate fists rule on the streets.
It’s simply the nature of how real altercations occur.

Real men hire thugs to beat up their opponents for them.

What social and economic background do most of these fighters come from?

The same as boxers, NFL and NBA players.

And what would that be?

And what would that be?
I think you know. Poor people have always used combat sports or any sports to get out of poverty. It's one of the failings of these neighborhoods encouraging youth to put all their focus on sports hoping they will make it to the pros in some sport. The vast majority fall short and end up with nothing and no skills, talent or schooling to fall back on.

Yes. They are mostly from poorer and less educated backgrounds and go into sport as a way to improve financially.

Are you say that all or most real athletes are from the same social and economic background?

Go to Genesis gym London, ask for Victor. Victor will tell you about the time a heavyweight wrestler was put in a coma by Lenny Mclean in a fight outside the Hippodrome nightclub.
Len also fucked up various blackbelts.
In a STREETFIGHT the best STREETFIGHTER wins, it aint no fucking judo mate on da concrete in east London.

Lenny won a lot of fights by striking first before his opponent was even aware there was a problem. 20 stone full of roids Lenny was deadly as a black snake on a cold night.

No doubt you are right. However, there are also gay folks who are into contact sports, particularly wrestling.

So what? That had nothing to do with the issue. For chrissakes, Prime, does everything have to get back to homosexuality?
And how do you know, and would you know, that there are more/particularly gays in wrestling?
We get that you're bi. No need to keep bringing it up
.
.
-
So what it is about being poor that makes a person good in sports?
As I stated before the total focus on that one skill at the expense of other activities and education. For a very small minority it works out if they have genetics and luck but for most the miss out on most career opportunities and end up staying poor and the cycle continues.
-
So what it is about being poor that makes a person good in sports?
I'm thinking both rich and poor play sports and some great ones come from both. Example Howie Long's sons. Wealthy family but the kids are also good NFL players.
The majority of the NFL is black because blacks often have excellent sprint speed and athletic ability.
Since most blacks are also poor it figures the NFL is filled with fast blacks from poor backgrounds.
Regarding combat sports like boxing and MMA it's a bit different. Why get your head beat in if your family is well-to-do? Lots of better opportunities like college.
Unless you really like fighting but most people would not do it when they can have an easier life.
-

Yes, Howie Long's sons had his genetics + the best coaching money can buy throughout their childhood. Being wealthy or upper middle class can allow a person's children the best coaching but they still need the genes for speed, size, quickness and the luck of not getting hurt in college.
-

So why do you think poor people focus on sports instead on other activities and education? What has lead you to that belief? As mention before most of Howie long's kids focus on sports. So has Johnny manziel.
-

Absolutely poor kids in the ghetto focus on sports more than anything else. You haven't witnessed this? It is almost all they focus on. Howie Long's kids and Johnny Manziel came from wealth and were set regardless if they succeeded or not in sports. For poor kids they don't have that safety net and is why they should focus on education and workable skills and not so much on a 1 in a 1,000 chance.

You are absolutely right prime. There are gay folks that are into wrestling. There are also gay folks that are into tennis, basketball, golf and football. Gays are everywhere.
What's even crazier is that the vast majority of gay men started off as straight men. So logic dictates that deep within many straight men lies a flaming homosexual that is just waiting to be exposed. Maybe wrestling is a gateway sport to full blown homosexualism.
Who knows. But you're right prime, there are a lot of gay folks into wrestling. I mean, do you remember Coco beware?

No way do 45% of NFL players come from middle class backgrounds. Boxing traditionally attracted the poorest of the poor in both the U.S. and Mexico, and all of South and central America.

So you're saying Johnny Manziel and Howie long's kids focused on sports because they were set up to succeed but you say other wealthy kids don't? Also poor kids focus on sports without a safety net? You seem to be contradicting yourself? Maybe you can explain your point another way?

Long's kids and Manziel were not middle class.

Long's kids and Manziel were not middle class.
Exactly my point. Can you explain that?
-
Exactly my point. Can you explain that?
Can you read? Poor kids put almost all of their focus on sports and neglect education. Very wealthy kids are set for life anyway so they can also focus on sports more plus they have the best coaching available. Middle class kids have to earn a living when they grow up and so they put focus on academics and not as much on athletics. I never met any kid at my school who had any chance of ever being a pro athlete but they realized this and focused more on school.
-

You're still not answering the question, and you fail to see how you're contradicting yourself.

You’re pointing out exceptions. The rule is that most to come from poorer backgrounds.

I don't remember KoKo B. Ware, but he looks pretty flamboyant in that photo and others I just viewed. Sometimes, I think it's just an act as in shtick or gimmick. Maybe these "straight" men stifled their same sex attractions for various reasons. Now that being gay is somewhat more acceptable, many people feel freer to express various aspects of their sexuality publicly. One thing you are absolutely right about is that gay folks are everywhere. They always were but now they don't feel the need to hid it in the closet.
Speaking of wrestling, East Coast Wrestling Club, wrestlemen.com, Metro Wrestling and Wrestling Without Borders are all gay friendly or gay oriented wrestling clubs and organizations. Wrestling is not just another contact sport because the contact gets really intimate at times.

Apparently, you forgot to read my post.
But I get it. Anything you can do to normalize and encourage homosexual behavior. You foresee a time of progressive victory when a father can look on at his son walking out the door on his first date and it wouldn't matter if he was hand and hand with a girl or hand and hand with a guy. In fact, it would just be a cherry on the top and pure gravy if at least one of the boys were dressed as a girl, or if a girl, dressed as a boy. As long as the behavior is not traditional and not normal as defined throughout all of human history then it should be encouraged and celebrated.

Summed up Nicely.

Hopefully, you mean you in the general sense. You (in the personal sense) don't know me well enough to speak on my behalf. What I hope for is a time when people learn to mind their own fucking business instead of meddling in and commenting on other folks' choices.

You're right. I did go off on a tangent and meant the rest in a general sense. It's just getting out of hand and I get worked up. People should mind their own business but when it's thrown in your face, when policies are bullied to change, when laws are passed..., then it becomes my business.
Same-sex marriage is a perfect example. Same-sex couples could get married and play house for decades, if not centuries. A friend of mine showed me his wedding invitation for Bob Paris' marriage in the 80s. They got married, played house, nobody cared. Hugh Hefner was for all practical purposes living his life like a Polygamous. Again nobody cared. But when you force society, by passing laws that demand that one accept and even celebrate the redefining of a traditional family institution, then you have problems. The Left always says that they want the government to stay out of their bedroom. But then they look to the government to coerce others to accept their alternative lifestyles.
Do what you want. Just keep your bedroom and bathroom doors closed.
-
"One thing you are absolutely right about is that gay folks are everywhere. They always were but now they don't feel the need to hid it in the closet."
It use to be just common practice and normal etiquette -- not even given a second thought -- that personal business was personal business. Whether it was financial, sexual, personal... The common phrase was that you "don't air your dirty laundry." It was just considered normal civilized behavior. No deep thinking or involved self-reflection needed. Just good manners and consideration.
I think it was better when people felt the need to "hid it" more.
-

We currently live in a time of emerging sexual freedoms. People discussing their 'private lives' is commonplace and not at all limited to homosexuals. You and I grew up in a time when people just didn't talk about their sex lives publicly, although many did so privately. Times change, whether you like it or not. You do not have to agree with these changes. But, constantly fighting them is going to be a losing battle for you.

That's the huge difference between you and me. I just don't passively accept things that I believe is wrong. Win or lose I fight for what I believe in. Remember I said that my father made me read, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and pay close attention to Atticus Finch. There's more to being strong than guns, fists or muscle. There's strength in character and standing up for what's right -- win or lose. It's easy when you know you will win. The true test is do you stand up and fight even though you may lose?
“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”
-- Atticus Finch to his young daughter, Scout.
-- Harper Lee, To Kill a Mocking Bird

Don't confuse idle, sometimes contentious and opposing discussions on Getbig with what goes on in the outside world. Standing up for your beliefs on Getbig is rather like acting the giant, chest beating ape. It all bluster and almost no substance.
Fictional character, Atticus Finch's dialog aside, when you think you are licked before you begin, you most certainly are.

No confusion. People state and defend their beliefs all the time here, including you. Now you're just talking just to talk. You have tons of free time and will comment on everything even if it has little to do with the subject at hand, especially if there is even a slightly tangential relationship to homosexuality. And, if not, you'll find one. I think that is one of the issues that people have, not with gays per se, but that some seem to define all of life through the prism of homosexuality.
I am hardly "licked". More people agree with my point of view than they do yours.

Are you sure?
Your are right, I wile or while (you choose) away a good deal of time on Getbig. But then, I am retired and have a lot of time to waste on frivolous endeavors. What I don't get is folks, including you, who seem to have all the time in the world for Getbig when one would think y'all would be employed or have responsibilities other than shoot'n the shit around here. Aren't you in your 50's. Shouldn't you be working? What's the deal?
One of the differences between you and I is that you take Getbig very seriously. I did too once upon a time. I got over it.

lol. Pay attention to the time I post. A little in the morning and then late in the day/early evening.
I'm almost 60. I retired from the DOD earlier this year. I work part time at a hardware store.
Get it?

No straight fella wants to know anything about gays or what they’re doing.
It’s beyond disgusting and society needs to push the knobslobbers back into the closet.

Yes exactly right
The mentally dysfunctional Queers just don’t understand that.
They should be back in the closet & be quiet.
