Facing a Republican Party unwilling to back another government shutdown or a national emergency declaration to build his border wall, President Donald Trump is in an unfamiliar position, according to multiple White House officials and lawmakers: prepared, potentially, to accept a compromise foisted on him by Congress.
Only a few days ago, Trump called a committee tasked with hammering out a border-security deal "a waste of time.”
But he seemed warm to the idea of a bipartisan deal on Thursday after he met with Senate Appropriations Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.). Shelby later briefed Senate Republicans on their meeting at a party lunch, which left them hopeful the president would be willing to support something that gives him more money for fencing — even if it isn't the $5.7 billion he’s been seeking, said one attendee.
“He’ll consider any kind of reasonable proposition … there’s a general openness," said Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, a vulnerable GOP senator who stuck by Trump amid the politically debilitating 35-day shutdown. “He’s obviously going to fulfill his campaign promise, and there’s got to be some earnest progress. It’s not like he’s going to acquiesce. But I do believe he’s showing good faith.”

Interesting. The Secure Fence Act was passed in 2006, followed by the building of 750 miles of border security fence. In addition, more check points, funding, barricades, etc. The chart you posted, shows a rapid decline in apprehensions after 2006.

Have a 1/500 scale wall built and show photos of it with small scale models of the cities affected to make it look real and have brown clay people in old school animation try to climb it and fail. He will win 2020 easily with that. He can say he struck some deals and obtained the money on his own. Pay some actors to talk about how great, beautiful, and patriotic it is. Problem solved.

I'd like to see the 10 years before 2000 as well. Seems to me that border apprehensions correlate to political and economic things happening in the U.S. Someone already pointed out the Secure Fences Act being responsible for a continuing drop until it started climbing again from '12-'14. I actually did not think of the fences act, but the housing/financial crisis being the correlating issue from '08-'12....combo of both maybe?
'15-'17 it becomes a hot topic, Trump wins, digs in hard that he's going to get it through '17. 2018 Dems start fighting back, and things spike up again. Seems like many are thinking "let's get in while we can. Dems are on our side" Keep in mind this chart is just "apprehensions". We don't know if what number of those were drug apprehensions, or just trying to get here to stay?
Also, 2001 (9/11) seemed to be another big deterrence to coming here until '04 when it spiked back up.

This way we can offer security, employment and discounted goods. And depending on the parking lot rules and the immigrants vehicle situation there is the opportunity for free housing.

I can only speak for myself, but I sure as hell didn't. I didn't even bother voting during the mid-term, as I knew the conservative would win. I was rather shocked how close it was.
I will admit, the Dems did a great job of getting people out during the midterms to vote for their candidates. I'll never take a midterm for granted again, and I'm sure I'm not the only Independent conservative or Republican that this applies to.

As for Trump not getting "his" wall, you might be right. If he gets re-elected he absolutely will get it though, because moderates and even some Dems don't agree with how crazy some of this "Democratic" socialism stuff is; and they will turn out come 2020. Like I said, midterms were likely something a lot of Independents that lean right like me took for granted. I think a lot of us bought into the "red wave". Whoops! :o I'm in a red state, so my stupidity in not voting luckily didn't matter here.

I just read the excerpt posted, not the whole article, and I admit it's upsetting how people with money can use the legal system to become wealthier just because the nation is trying to protect itself, while common folk get actual value or even less. That's not right. If the land being claimed as eminent domain has an increased value due to it being developed/for business purposes then fine...they should get more $. Otherwise, it should be a calculated figure that is fair and standardized for all that lose a part of their property.
Those battling on the grounds of "environmental or animal welfare" concerns need to STFU. Birds can fly over it, rivers can flow through (and monitored), and other wildlife will just have to adjust. I don't care if the majestic mexican-american antelope or whatever will no longer exist.

Its a wonderful place and still train at Romanos Gym(GREAT bodybuilders gym and $10 pharma Sostenon and Deca at Walmart). Ave Xochitl. But, I didn't just want to take the cheap price and use Mexico. As an immigrant, I wanted to contribute so I taught English classes at private schools. Pay was low but I was living on an investment dividend from US mostly that I worked 20 years for. Even did some conversation clubs for free.
About 2 years ago, there were cops waiting for me as I left a class. I was arrested and thrown in jail, my computer and all belongings stolen by cops. They charged me with teaching my English classes while I still had a tourist visa, and hadn't changed it to a work visa. They held me in jail until I signed a voluntary deportation, basically admitting I was an immigrant working illegally or they would have kept me In that horrible jail. The voluntary deportation gives two Mexican scumbag immigration agents free trips to la, because they had to fly back with me and they are then put up in an la hotel and given an LA vacation, all paid for by Mexican government to FIGHT IMMIGRANTS WORKING ILLEGALLY IN MEXICO.

That statement was a reach, and a big mistake on his part. However, I don't see many conservatives bitching about it....just those on the left trying to convince us we should be pissed.
Personally, I didn't believe Mexico would cut us a check. I thought there would be issues with that statement, and we would ultimately pay for it. And I'm fine with that. I voted for him because he seemed like he would be the first guy that would actually do it, whereas ALL of the rest HAVE TALKED ABOUT IT. I also voted for him, because I've said for many years that our country (at least as far as spending goes) needs to be run like a business that has limited access to funds, and has to be responsible with those funds or it would go out of business. Other reasons were trade, the economy, and our military that bathhouse barry intentionally weakened. And the final and BIGGEST reason was for the Clinton's to not end up in the White House again with the additional hope that it would end them as politicians completely as well.
So far, Trump has not let me down on any of these things....nor has Killary for that matter. In fact, he has exceeded my expectations a great deal. While many disagree, because of the language he uses....I'm incredibly happy with how serious he has taken the honor and duties of being the President when it comes to foreign relations, negotiations, and following through on campaign promises. There has never been a President in my lifetime that has done as much, and kept as many promises as he has in just a little over 2 years! NEVER!
The funny tweets and speeches that make left-tards cry in agony are just an added bonus which makes me insanely eager to vote for him again in 2020 almost regardless of what dirt they dig up on him and his business. My nephew works in border patrol. He's been at it for more than a decade. -Pretty sure he has lots to say about it. Should I decide to follow your advice, I go along with him. He's in the mounted patrol unit in Texas. It might be fun to get back up on a horse some fifty or more years later. Should be like riding a bicycle....once you learn, you never forget how to do it.

Tax Reform, protected America's steel industry, stopped the "war on coal", renegotiating international trade deals, growing manufacturing jobs at a rate much higher then the previous administration, pulled out of the climate paris accords, travel ban, pulled out of iran deal, pulled out of TPP, ISIS obliterated, rebuilding the military, withdrew from the UN global migration pact, signed the multiple acts to give veterans better healthcare. Those are just some of the promises kept. Let alone appointing two Supreme court justices and signing "the first step act" which was a huge accomplishment for criminal justice reform.

Steel and Coal have been in a downtrend for years. Trump never said he was going to save the entire coal industry. He said he was going to stop the war on coal, ie the new environmental regulations that were hurting the industry. He also has protected the steel industry. US steel reopened a facility they had shutdown in 2015 and added 800 jobs. You see all the short term thinking morons who are saying we cant close the border bc we need food from Mexico? Before NAFTA, we didn't need Mexico. We grew most of our food here. China has been dumping steel on our markets like Mexico has been dumping fruits and vegetables. Mexico ran our farmers out of business like China was doing to our domestic steel manufacturers. We need to protect our food and steel industries before they're all out of business and we have to rely on other countries for food and steel. That's a pretty shitty position to be in.

This has to be trolling. No one could be this ignorant. Trump has increased military spending. 33 billion in 2018 and 47 billion in 2019. He just proposed adding another 60 billion to that number for 2020. If he vastly increases the defense budget and then pulls 2.5 billion for a wall you realize he still has a huge net increase in defense spending right? You can grasp that concept right? If he kept the military budget roughly the same and was pulling money from it, you'd have an argument.
Are you one of these people who doesn't understand, the difference between your effective tax rate, the amount of federal taxes you pay and how that relates to your refund? The media loves people like you. If my refund was $1000 smaller but I had $3500 more in my check for the year you realize that means I paid less in taxes right? I owed money this year but my effective tax rate drop by 5 percentage points. That means I got to keep 5% more of my money. That's huge. Don't worry, you're not alone. Most people view how they did on their taxes by how big their refund is, which is idiotic.
