I'm up in the air on the question. Either way, the stats are skewed based on my experience. There's a few different versions that randomly go out and it has a 10 + year impact on a plethora of things, not just gov't. Having an accurate count of people regardless of race or citizenship is most important. Having worked for the the Dept. of Commerce, including the decennials, many people refuse to answer some or all of the questions. The 2020 is going to be a huge PITA. I'd be afraid (safety wise) to be a Census worker in any capacity this time around.
Technically, it does say "persons" in the constitution, but there is also no legal reason why they cannot ask that question as well.
Do you really believe "persons" was meant to include illegal aliens?I am going to say, No, because at that time it wasn't so much of a defined term so if they were around today I am sure they would make it more clear to only include citizens due to the representation aspect.
I am going to say, No, because at that time it wasn't so much of a defined term so if they were around today I am sure they would make it more clear to only include citizens due to the representation aspect.
Literally, I think it did mean that back then.
Does that make sense in how I am explaining that? So the ruling was bogus, imo.
I could be wrong as I haven't looked too hard into the term "persons" at that time.
Do you really believe "persons" was meant to include illegal aliens?
They just called them invaders back then...
Whenever I see people fighting to ensure illegal aliens can flood our borders and stay once they make it across the border, I think of one word: anti-american. Or is that two words?
Look at the response to Trump dropping the citizenship question from the census: "we won." Won what? Making it easier for illegal aliens to be counted in the census to try and effect how many representatives of Congress a state may get? Anti-American.
DOJ says citizenship question being dropped from 2020 Census: NY attorney general's office
By Gregg Re | Fox News
It's 'common sense' for the government to know whether or not residents are citizens, says Mercedes Schlapp, White House director of strategic communications.
The New York attorney general’s office said Tuesday the Justice Department has decided to print the 2020 Census without the citizenship question sought by the Trump administration, ending a contentious legal dispute over an issue that could soon affect the makeup of Congress and the Electoral College.
The Supreme Court ruled last week that the question couldn't be added for now, as civil rights groups argued that the Trump administration's reasons for including the question were merely pretextual efforts to discourage illegal immigrants from responding to the Census. Population counts from the Census are used to apportion House seats among the 50 states.
In a tweet on Monday, Daniel Jacobson, who worked in the White House Counsel’s Office under President Obama, said a trial attorney at the Justice Department told him that "the printer has been instructed to begin the printing process" without the citizenship question.
"We won," Jacobson wrote.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md., issued a less-than-celebratory statement calling for answers, even as he praised the decision to scrap the citizenship question.
"I am encouraged that Administration officials dropped President Trump’s unconstitutional plan to postpone the Census just because he lost the Supreme Court case," Cummings said. "The Trump Administration put our country through more than a year of wasted time and squandered resources—all in the service of an illegal attempt to add a discriminatory question based on a pretext. Now they need to direct all their attention to the nuts and bolts of putting on the Census next year. The Census Bureau has a responsibility under the Constitution to get an accurate count."
Cummings continued: "The Attorney General and the Secretary of Commerce must now turn over all of the documents our Committee has subpoenaed on a bipartisan basis."
The White House didn't immediately comment on the decision. Spokespeople for the U.S. Census Bureau have not responded to emails or phone calls seeking comment.
President Trump had tweeted that he had asked lawyers if the count can be delayed until the Supreme Court can reevaluate the matter, based on additional evidence supporting the administration's justifications for adding the citizenship question.
The Supreme Court, in its ruling last week, did not prohibit a citizenship question out of hand but dismissed the administration's provided rationale. The court suggested it would be open to different arguments from the White House.
However, experts responded that any delay could gum up the U.S. Census Bureau's finely calibrated timetable for the 10-year count. Monday was the deadline to start printing the 600 million documents that will be mailed to 130 million households for next April's census count.
For months, the Trump administration had argued that the courts needed to decide quickly whether the citizenship question could be added to the 2020 census because of the looming deadline.
"I think it's very important to find out if somebody is a citizen as opposed to an illegal," Trump told reporters Monday. "There's a big difference to me between being a citizen of the United States and being an illegal."
Former President Barack Obama's administration didn't ask the citizenship question in the 2010 census. The citizenship question was last asked on the census in 1950, but beginning in 1970, a citizenship question was asked in a long-form questionnaire sent to a relatively small number of households, alongside the main census. In 2010, there was no long-form questionnaire.
"There is no credible argument to be made that asking about citizenship subverts the Constitution and federal law," Chapman University law professor and constitutional law expert John Eastman told Fox News.
From a logistical standpoint, any delay "would be a nightmare," said John Thompson, who served as Census Bureau director during Obama's second term.
The bureau already has been in the process of signing almost 250 office leases across the U.S. and has hired 1,500 specialists partnering with community organizations to encourage people to participate in the census. More than 170,000 recruits already have filled out applications for the almost half-million positions being created for the count. The bureau has helped set up more than 1,500 committees nationwide working to get everyone to respond.
Furthermore, Congress would have to change the law for the count to be delayed because Title 13 of the U.S. Code mandates that it take place on April 1, 2020, Thompson said.
"I don't think there's any ambiguity, but I'm not a lawyer," Thompson said.
Both the census and the way individual congressional districts are crafted can change the balance of power on Capitol Hill; Shannon Bream, Fox News chief legal correspondent and anchor of 'Fox News @ Night,' reports.
Fewer people are expected to fill out the questionnaires using paper than in years past because the bureau for the first time is relying on most respondents to use the Internet to answer questions. Still, printed postcards and letters are to be sent out next March reminding residents it's time to answer the questionnaire, and those who don't respond digitally are expected to be mailed paper questionnaires.
As recently as last week, the Trump administration's solicitor general wrote in court papers that the Census Bureau needed to finalize the questions by June. Any changes to the paper questionnaire after June would impair the bureau's ability to conduct the count in a timely manner, wrote the solicitor general, Noel Francisco.
More than two dozen Democrats in the U.S. Senate last week sent a letter urging Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to drop any further pursuit of the citizenship question because it would delay the bureau's ability to conduct the count.
"The 2020 Census is less than half a year away, and any unnecessary delay in operations would impact the ability of the Census Bureau to count every person in our country," the letter read.
This past May, Montana Republican Sen. Steve Daines introduced legislation that would require the census to include a citizenship question.
"This is America," Daines told Fox News at the time. "We are a sovereign nation. It's absurd that we don't know how many citizens and non-citizens are living in this country. That's why I'm introducing this bill to require a citizenship question on the census - and ensure that states harboring millions of illegal immigrants are not rewarded with additional taxpayer dollars."

Believe it or not we can secure our borders without being hateful or racist.
That's the America I want. Who's with me?
What is really Anti_American is to weaponize the census for political gains (which is what correspondence between the people in the administration and key Republican operatives has revealed is the motive)
According to the latest research outlined by the Census Bureau earlier this month, the question would reduce response rates for non-citizens by 8 percentage points. (The research assumes that the question wouldn’t affect response rates in households of U.S. citizens.) That translates to an overall drop of 2.2 percentage points for all households. Such a decline is expected to drive up costs and require additional follow-up for people who don't respond.
So the Census Bureau themselves have revealed that this question would result in LESS PARTICIPATION and LESS ACCURATE RESULTS
Note to Trumptards - Non-Citizens does not only mean illegal residents (you know, like the ones that work at Trump golf courses and hotels)

It’s really just vote buying. Let illegals in, then give them bennies and a path to citizenship. Which party are they gonna support?Yes, that is the goal for the democrat leaders but your typical libtard on here isn't smart (or honest) enough to figure that out.
Good point and see no problem with a citizenship question on the census.
In fact, several can be LEGAL immigrants but not full citizens.
In my opinion everyone counted needs to be some form of legal resident.
Oddly enough, I agree with you regarding citizenship questions as part of the census. I'm going to go a step further and say everyone should be counted regardless of whether they are legal residents.
If the census is used to determine Congressional representation, why would we count people who are here illegally?
Straw man says that's bullshit!
Because they vote and get govt benefits in sanctuary cities.

I don't know. Why don't you ask Trump? Isn't he the person who wants the citizenship question added to the census? Seems like a good idea to me. I think folks who aren't American citizens should not have the privilege of voting on our issues or in our elections.
Having said this, unless proof of citizenship is required. How do you know whether the person's answer is true or not.
The administration argues that the citizenship data would help in enforcement of the Voting Rights Act, and that is manifestly true. By law, “majority minority” districts must be drawn so at least 50% of eligible voters—i.e., citizens over 18—are members of the minority in question. If too many minority residents are ineligible to vote, that defeats the purpose of avoiding the dilution of minority voting strength. Voting-rights litigation and compliance are hampered by the lack of citizenship data in the decennial census.

Democrats mull masking whistleblower, holding testimony at remote locale: report
BY JUSTINE COLEMAN - 10/07/19
House Democrats are looking to prevent the whistleblower from being identified by holding the person's testimony at a remote location and potentially changing their appearance and voice.
Democrats are going to great lengths to hide the whistleblower's identity out of fear the Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee could leak their identity, according to The Washington Post, which cited three people familiar with the discussions.
Democrats are considering holding testimony outside the Capitol as well as a staff-only session that would bar lawmakers from questioning the whistleblower, according to the Post.
Democrats are also weighing options to distort the whistleblower's appearance and voice, including through a video camera or audio-only testimony or by placing the person behind a screen, the Post reported.
These meetings could occur "within the next couple of weeks," though the date has not been decided, an official told the Post.
The whistleblower's allegations that President Trump sought to pressure Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden led Democrats to start an impeachment inquiry.
Trump has requested to know the identity of the whistleblower and has called the person "close to a spy."
The lawyer representing the whistleblower has expressed concern for his client's safety. A second whistleblower has hired the same legal team.

Shreveport Police and Firefighters have been ordered not do their jobs and assist with President Trump's visit to Bossier City this week.
First responders from Northwest Louisiana were planning to help prepare for Donald Trump's rally at the CenturyLink Center this week but the Mayor of Shreveport, Democrat Adrian Perkins, has ordered them not to get involved, according to multiple news outlets.
This order pertains to traffic control and the fire department bomb squad.
Wow! The Mayor of Shreveport wants people in Northwest Louisiana to be less safe? Sounds like another corrupt Democrat is running his mouth again.
Not surprisingly, local residents are pissed.

‘I Actually Have Some Civil Rights Here Too’: Defiant Devin Nunes Fires Back At Schiff Phone Record Subpoena

Republican California Rep. Devin Nunes fired back at Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff during Wednesday night’s edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” calling his phone record subpoena a violation of his “civil rights.”
Schiff, the House Intelligence Committee chairman, released his committee’s impeachment inquiry report Tuesday, which revealed the acquisition of several personal phone records of conversations involving Nunes, investigative reporter John Solomon, and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.
“He has subpoena power,” Nunes told Fox News host Tucker Carlson when asked how it happened. “So when the Democrats gained control, they have subpoena power. We knew he had issued – he notified us that he had subpoenaed some phone numbers. We didn’t know who those numbers were. And, of course, because it’s … classified, we can’t talk about it.”
“Could they do that for my phone records and your phone records?” Tucker asked.
“It appears like they could,” said Nunes. “If Adam Schiff now wants to go out and subpoena, they have now set a precedent where Adam Schiff can go and get any phone number he has, send it to AT&T and AT&T is going to comply.”
Nunes told Carlson that he was unaware of “any previous time” where the House Intelligence Committee had subpoenaed phone numbers. (RELATED: Devin Nunes Yields To Adam Schiff ‘For Story Time Hour’)
“And because I had talked to Rudy Giuliani and somehow that’s now a crime, and then I make it into his report,” said Nunes. “We spent the last three years, if any Republican ever talked to any Russian at any time, even if you are Russian-American, that was a no-no. Then we were criticized. We switched to Ukraine. If you talk to any Ukrainian that’s now a crime. Now I can’t even talk to Rudy Giuliani, who I have known for 10 years. That’s supposedly a crime. And I’m in his report for supposedly doing something wrong. So this is — this is wrong. And what is happening, whatever is happening in this town is wrong and look, I’m going to look at whatever legal remedies I have. Because I actually have some civil rights here too.”
“If they can do it to you, then what protection do we have?” asked Carlson.

Telephone calling records have been subject to search for a considerable time. I believe there is a legal basis in that there is no expectation of privacy of calling records,…because you are making it known to a third party, (the telephone company) by dialing the number of whom you are calling.
As I understand it…the legal precedent was set when calls were connected by human operators shoving plugs into jacks,… you had to tell the operator the number and thus you had no expectation of privacy…she would make a paper trail of the call.
When telephones got dials, local calls were routed by large arrays of mechanical switches…(the first computer logic was based on telephone switching offices). With the exception of long distance which were still handled by human operators (who timed calls with the same timers that pool rooms used to time pool table use) no routine record was kept of local telephone calls.
To obtain a record of who people called locally became something you had to seek out by installing a device called a “pen register” on the line in question. If you refer back to the earlier telephone era of human operators whom the callers had to tell the number that they were calling…only now you are dialing the number into the switching system…with no expectation of privacy.
Enter into the scene ESS…electronic switching systems…controlled by computers. Calls are always super clear, easy to understand, with lots of neat new things that the telephone can do.
Such as:And many more.
- You dial someone and if the line is busy…when the person you called hangs-up the system will call you back and connect you.
- You can see the number of who is calling you.
- If you are going to the gym you can have the system forward your calls to the gym’s front desk.
All this requires the system to remember the numbers of whom you are calling,…with no expectation of privacy.
Fast forward to the cell phone era:All with no expectation of privacy because originally you had to talk to human operators to route calls.
- Like wired telephones you have to tell the system (dial) the number you want to call.
- The system in order to route calls it has to know which tower you are closest to (your cell phone reports to the nearest tower every six seconds)…so the system knows where you are.
I'm no lawyer, but this doesn't pass the sniff test.
We have every expectation of privacy when talking on the phone - in general at least. If I'm blabbing away in public where anyone can sit there and listen, then maybe not. If I'm at home talking to my doctor or wife, then there's no question we have an expectation of privacy.
Not your conversation...Whom did you call? When? For how long? Where did you call from? Where was the person you called when you talked to him?...Those records.
Dangerous times.

5. We still have unemployment benefits. Literally millions have signed up this week. How much more free money do we need to give to non working people?
6. The unions have killed themselves with their ridiculous demands forcing companies to choose to hire a foreign workforce. On a philosophic or ideological note why should an employer be forced to deal with a union anyway? If I hire people for a job and they agree to the salary and benefits why should they be allowed to force me to pay them more? I would fire all of their asses and either hire a new workforce or shut the whole company down altogether before I would be held hostage by ungrateful employees. Let them invest their own money in building a profitable company.
7. Women get equal pay if they do the same jobs as men for the same amount of time. This myth of unequal pay was debunked a long time ago. If corporations could really pay 70% less for women why would they ever hire men?

"I am encouraged that Administration officials dropped President Trump’s unconstitutional plan to postpone the Census just because he lost the Supreme Court case," Cummings said.

Macy Gray on the American flag: 'I shouldn't have to salute it, I shouldn't have to honor it'

Macy Gray isn't backing down from her controversial stance that the American flag should be redesigned.
The 53-year-old Grammy-winning singer elicited mixed reactions over a Juneteenth op-ed she wrote for MarketWatch that quickly went viral. In the piece, Gray compared the U.S. flag to the Confederate flag, calling it "tattered, dated, divisive and incorrect." She doubled down on her assertion on Monday.
"Why do we have to celebrate a flag that now represents divisiveness and hate?" she declared.
Gray felt the need for change more than ever on Jan. 6, when she watched rioters storm the U.S. Capitol, many of whom carried American flags.
"The people there held it up as their symbol as 'this is what America represents,'" Gray continued. "'We're threatening to hang the vice president and our gang sign is the flag.'"
Gray said she "shouldn't have to salute" the current flag.
"I shouldn't have to honor it, I shouldn't have to pledge to it," she explained. "All I'm saying is let's redesign the flag for the rest of us who aren't a part of that tribe."
"The Smithsonian documents that the 'white' stripes represent purity and innocence. America is great. It is beautiful. Pure, it ain’t. It is broken and in pieces," she stated.
The latest change in the American flag was more than 60 years ago, when the new states Alaska and Hawaii were given stars.
"Sixty-two years later, in 2021, we have changed and it’s time for a reset, a transformation. One that represents all states and all of us," Gray concluded.

In my mind, this is not anti-American. It is in fact, very American to me. It's the freedom to voice your opinion.
That's what this is about, you don't have to do shit because it's a free country. You don't like it... leave. It's impossible to have a flag that represents everyone. Our flag represents our country.
She, like that 3rd place losing idiot in the hammer throw, keep choosing to ignore that we had a civil war over this. Nothing will ever satisfy these people. Just ignore them is my feeling lately.
I agree, best to ignore it. But sometimes, I am bewildered at what some people have the audacity to say.

House Democrats have introduced a bill that would strip Secret Service protection from convicted felons sentenced to prison, a move directly targeting former President Trump who is currently on criminal trial in New York City for alleged hush money payments made during the 2016 election campaign and faces several other cases which could land him behind bars.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the former chair of the now disbanded Jan. 6 congressional committee, introduced legislation that would automatically nix Secret Service protection for those who have been convicted of a federal or state felony that carries a minimum one-year prison term.
The proposed bill is provocatively called the "Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act.
Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentence of a protectee—even a former President," Thompson said in a statement.
"It is regrettable that it has come to this, but this previously unthought-of scenario could become our reality."
A so-called "fact sheet" accompanying Thompson’s statement notes that Trump is facing an "unprecedented 91 felony charges in federal and state courts" which have "created a new exigency that Congress must address to ensure Secret Service protection does not interfere with the criminal judicial process and the administration of justice."
The one-page document also states that the bill would apply to former President Trump should he be convicted of a felony, as well as to all Secret Service protectees convicted and sentenced under felony charges.
It notes that current law does not contemplate how Secret Service security would be administered to a protectee serving jail time and it therefore may pose logistical difficulties for both the Secret Service and prison authorities.
The proposed bill, Thompson says, would avoid such complications with incarcerating former President Trump should he be ordered to serve jail time.
"Therefore, it is necessary for us to be prepared and update the law so the American people can be assured that protective status does not translate into special treatment—and that those who are sentenced to prison will indeed serve the time required of them," Thompson said.
It would also address suggestions that any potential conviction of Trump would likely result in some form of home confinement rather than prison time, given his Secret Service protection.
This bill would remove the potential for conflicting lines of authority within prisons and allow judges to weigh the sentencing of individuals without having to factor in the logistical concerns of convicts with Secret Service protection," the document states.
Secret Service protection is afforded to current presidents and their family members as well as former presidents and other high level officials. Protection was expanded to major party presidential nominees following the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy in 1968, although his son has not been provided with Secret Service protection for his 2024 independent run.
As well as the hush money trial, Trump is charged in Georgia with trying to overturn the 2020 election in a racketeering case. He also has upcoming trials in Florida over his alleged hoarding of classified White House documents and in Washington D.C., where he is accused of conspiring to overturn the results of his election loss.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

As much as I dislike the clown "squad", she is holding up a sign expressing her opinion, and probably the opinion of many of her voters, and making a political point. Whether her loyalty lies with the US is highly questionable.
On the other hand you have several "American" politicians who are all too obsequious and suspiciously beholden to the "closest ally" that despite receiving hundreds of billions and unconditional support over decades has repeatedly spied on the US (and then rewarded those spies like Pollard for example). Whether their loyalty lies solely with the US is also highly questionable. Even Fetterman who dresses like a bum put on a suit for Netanyahu. The US should abstain from supporting and funding either side, except perhaps for humanitarian aid. How can those "American" congresscreatures give billions to a foreign nation when US citizens (and veterans) suffer and the debt is at an all time high? (rhetorical question)

Military refusing illegal orders is well drilled into them and has been around for a very long time. Still, except for very blatant and egregious cases, it is difficult for military members to adjudicate on the spot what amounts to an illegal order. It appears these Democrats just want military members to disobey the President simply because he is Trump, not the actual legality of any orders.

What on earth are you going on about? None of what you posted has anything to do with the subject at hand which is regarding Democratic lawmakers telling military personnel to refuse illegal orders and Trump responding that the Democrats’ video message to military is ‘seditious behavior’ punishable by death.
Fox legal analyst and National Review editor Andy McCarthy: “There is no insurrection or sedition without the use of force. Disobeying a lawful order is insubordination, not insurrection or sedition. Disobeying an unlawful order is required. That is all.”

Trump called for the execution by hanging of 2 Democratic senators and 4 representatives after they posted a video reminding members of the military and intelligence community that their oath is to the Constitution and the country, and it is their legal obligation to refuse to follow any unlawful orders they may receive. Each lawmaker in the video is either a military vet or former member of a US intelligence agency.
I am not going to change the subject by answering your irrelevant questions. You are who is ignoring the subject at hand, not I.
Once again, since your thick head seems unable to grasp what this conversation is about and so you go off on some idiot tangent.
In the military: Members of the US military have a legal and ethical duty to disobey any order that is illegal, which includes orders that violate the Constitution, US laws, or military regulations.
Oath to the Constitution: Service members swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution, not any individual or political authority.
Consequences of disobeying illegal orders: While disobeying an order can have consequences, there are exceptions, and there is no obligation to follow an unlawful command.
"Just following orders" is not a defense: The Nuremberg Trials established the principle that following orders is not a valid defense for war crimes, a principle that is also applied in US courts.
Your not going to answer them because you'd have to admit the leftists are Fucked up
In their thinking & behaviour & you quite happy about it.

Yeah, this type of shit needs to stop.
It will only get worse.
Right. Let's encourage everyone to ignore the law.
No, it is you who is dishonest. Changing the subject by asking questions which are totally irrelevant and off topic is incredibly dishonest and yet you have the bad habit of doing this repeatedly. It is either this or you simply cannot follow a conversation, get confused and ask stupid, irrelevant questions and then grouse when they are ignored.
Read the posts in this thread starting with the one from Dos Equis, and maybe, just maybe, you will see how you went off track asking me questions which came totally from out in left field.

Why is the christian looney US Ambassador to Israel meeting with convicted criminal Israeli spy Pollard?
American who spied for Israel says he met Ambassador Mike Huckabee to 'thank' him for his support
(https://ynet-pic1.yit.co.il/picserver6/crop_images/2025/11/20/rylDfO2lZe/rylDfO2lZe_0_0_850_479_0_large.jpg)
Convicted Israeli spy Jonathan J. Pollard downplayed the controversy around his private meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, telling NBC News the visit was “personal” and “wasn’t done surreptitiously.”
The “main point” of the meeting at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem in July, Pollard said, was to “thank” the ambassador for “his efforts on my behalf during my incarceration.”
Pollard, a former American intelligence analyst, spent 30 years in prison on espionage charges after being found to have passed critical security documents to Israeli intelligence in the 1980s. Israel made Pollard a citizen during his lengthy prison term, and he moved there in 2020, five years after his release on probation.
During Pollard’s detention, Huckabee was among several pro-Israeli politicians who advocated for his release, arguing that the sentence was too severe for someone who had been spying for an ally.

Oregon Gov. Threatens to Investigate, Prosecute Federal Agents Enforcing Immigration Laws

The actual quote: “We will investigate misconduct, and if a federal officer breaks Oregon law, they will be held accountable — just like anyone else.”
Silly breitbart clickbait title aside, the Governor’s statement seems like a reasonable and rather milquetoast one to me. Did you read the article, or have you devolved to Coach’s level of arguing-by-url-regurgitation?
Do you believe that federal law enforcement isn’t subject to state laws when operating in a given state?
I believe federal law enforcement officers enforcing federal law will never be successfully prosecuted by any state, so the Governor's statement is anti-American partisan gibberish designed to pander to leftists who support illegal immigration.

Seriously WTF is so very wrong with these Leftists
You may be right in that the states' prosecution may not be successful because ultimately the case will end up in federal court. However, this does not mean that governors enforcing their state laws is pandering to leftists as you suggest.
Honestly, would you say the same thing if the governors prosecuting federal law enforcement officers for breaking state laws were right-leaning republicans like Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX), Governor Bill Lee (R-TN), Governor Brad Little (R-ID), Governor Henry McMaster (R-SC), or Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) and the President and the administration were left-leaning democrats?
I am right. About the purported prosecutions and the governor's motivation.
Let me know when any of the governors you mentioned openly violate federal law and threaten to prosecute federal agents trying to enforce that federal law.
Where does your comment about the governors violating federal law come from? Are you saying governors who seek to prosecute federal agents for violating state laws are in turn violating federal laws? Is there a federal law against prosecuting someone for violating state laws? If so, I believe you are mistaken. A state can prosecute a federal agent for a state law violation if the agent was not acting within the scope of their official duties or if the action was not necessary to fulfilling their federal role.Reading comprehension 101

My comment comes from your question.Could you dumb it down more with some smaller words for him?
This is about the Oregon governor openly failing to enforce federal immigration law (Oregon is a "sanctuary state") and threatening to try and prosecute ICE agents for enforce federal immigration law. You can try and ask hypothetical questions about some unnamed state law allegedly being violated by ICE agents, but Oregon successfully prosecuting ICE agents for enforcing federal immigration law is never going to happen.

Not that the current administration 'gives a rat's ass' about following the U.S. Constitution, but:
Tenth Amendment Rights Reserved to the States and the People
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Further defined; As per the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the the federal government cannot "command" state and local officials to enforce federal law, including immigration law. In legal challenges to sanctuary policies, courts have consistently rejected efforts to force states to comply with federal immigration enforcement requests.

You do post some stupid things.
Yeah like your lot gave a rats arse & still don't.
Its not only Pedo Joe whose not fully Cognitive
Since I have no legal authority over others, what I do or do not give a rat's ass about is of little consequence beyond any personal consequences I might suffer for breaking the law if caught. I am not sure what you think is my 'lot' so I cannot address this remark of yours.
The U.S. federal government absolutely must follow the Constitution because it is the "supreme law of the land". Federal courts, including the Supreme Court, have the authority to review presidential actions and strike them down if they are found to be unconstitutional or exceed statutory authority.

Your response is a a bit of a cop-out—which is your usual modus operandi. Except it’s now laced with the sort of vitriolic language that is oh-so-popular today—terms like “anti-American” which intended to polarize the situation and shut down debate and nuanced discussion. And that is un-American.
While government agents enjoy immunity—and this is especially true of law enforcement agents—they are not exempt from complying with the law—State or Federal.
A State can file charges against Federal agents in State court, although such charges would likely be removed to Federal Court under 28 U.S.C. §1442(a)(1) and proceedings would continue, with the Court applying State substantive laws and Federal procedural laws.
It’s true that any such prosecution would face an incredibly high bar; see Oregon v. Landis for an egregious example. But that doesn’t mean that charges shouldn’t be filed when federal agents violate state law.
And that was the salient point, I think: government, at all levels, should be enforcing the laws, but its agents should not be exempt from obeying the laws in the conduct of their duties.

Dominican-Born Massachusetts Mayor Can Literally Barely Speak English

It makes perfect sense that the voters in Lawrence MA would elect a Dominican-born Mayor. Lawrence MA is a 'YUGE' city covering approximately 7 sq. miles. Over 80% of the population (approximately 89,000 folks) is Latino with a large Dominican community. In fact, Lawrence is a major center for Dominicans in the U.S. The primary language of Lawrence is Spanish, which is also the official language in the Dominican Republic. It is a good thing they didn't elect a German or Chinese speaking mayor because that would be problematical.
Where the guy was born is irrelevant. The issue is he cannot speak or understand English without an interpreter. Absolutely insane. So much for assimilation into American culture. ::) You would think that speaking and understanding english would be a requirement for service in any sort of public servant role.
Where the guy was born is irrelevant. The issue is he cannot speak or understand English without an interpreter. Absolutely insane.
And that's a damn shame. Ask google what the official language of the United States is.
There is no state law requiring English fluency to become Mayor of Lawrence, MA.
And that's a damn shame. Ask google what the official language of the United States is.;D that’s all his janitor brain has is google.
I suggest you do not move to Lawrence, MA unless you speak Spanish. It is clearly the dominate language there. Stay in Hawaii because English is the official language spoken in government functions.
Eighty-two percent of Lawrence, MA's population is Spanish speaking. Apparently, it is not insane to Lawrence's speaking folks who voted for Brian De Peña. In 2021 he got 53% of the vote. His opponent, Kendrys Vasquez was also born in the Dominican Republic. He got 46% of the vote. There were no other candidates.
Brian De Peña was re-elected Mayor last November. Brian's opponent was Juan "Manny" Gonzalez who was born in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico's native language is Spanish.
There is no state law requiring English fluency to become Mayor of Lawrence, MA.
Do you think the mayor of an American city should know how to speak and understand English?
Sure. But then I don't live in Lawrence, MA and therefore could not vote in their last two Mayoral elections, so what I think is irrelevant. It is what the folks of Lawrence think that counts. Apparently, his lack of fluency in English is not a problem for them.
As a resident of West Linn, in 2023 I voted for Rory Bialostosky, who is a longtime resident of West Linn. He was elected to the City Council in 2020 when he was 21 years old. He is fluent in English and also an intelligent fellow. His young age isn't a problem for me either.
https://www.lclark.edu/live/news/52503-west-linn-selects-recent-alum-as-youngest-ever
West Linn's population is around 28,000. The median age is 43. West Linn is somewhere between 80 - 83% white. Around 60% of the people over 25 years old have a bachelor's degree or higher. The median household income is $147,000. 78% of the housing is owner occupied. The poverty level is almost non-existent.
Glad we agree on the mayor of an American city needing to speak and understand English.
It may not matter to you what happens outside of your own city, but as an American I care about what happens in every American city.
Just curious, are you discounting the voters' right to choose their mayor in Lawrence, MA?
Did I say what happens in other cities does not matter to me? If so, that was not my intention. What matters to me, in this case, is the people's right to choose what happens in their city by exercising their right to vote for the mayoral candidate of their choice.
West Linn is a city, but it is also a suburb of Portland. So understandably, I care about who the people choose to be Portland's Mayor. Do I care about who is the Mayor of every U.S. city? Not in any significant way because to do this is unrealistic.

Just a Quick Reminder for you
😂🤣😂🤣😂 👍🏻
Your reminder is not necessary. I feel this almost everyday. Trump's behavior never fails to remind me.

Lawrence, MA is considered a sanctuary city. It has adopted policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement,
Interesting.

It is not surprising that Lawrence, MA is a sanctuary city, considering 82% of the population is Latino with the largest number of them being Dominicans. It would be interesting to see who is voting in that dump of a city.
It would be interesting to see who is voting in that dump of a city.
It's pretty dumpy.
I have a family member living there temporarily (apt is pretty sweet, location....well....)
But the main problem is that someone who does not learn English should not be able to be successful in the US, if you believe how immigration is supposed to work.
Folks should have to learn the language, assimilate, keep their core values, but adopt American ones. When those barriers to success are removed, the immigration can become a problem.
