Title: In honor of the Mr. Olympia....
Post by: SF1900 on September 12, 2019, 08:45:01 AM
I dedicated today's chest and trap work out to all the warriors who will engage in a bloody battle tomorrow.

Flat machine presses
Incline dumbbell presses
Flat flyes
Dips

Barbell shrugs

I used this flat machine press. Boy, what a pump. Better than any free weight movement.

I’m not a fan of machines, but any exercise that causes a good pump has its value in training. Flushing the area with blood has to help with the recovery process... or even kicking off the recovery process

I mix it up. I use machines and free weights. While I do enjoy using free weights, the pump I get from machines is unmatched--the pump that I get from that chest press machine is not the same as I get when I use free weights.

The only time I use free weights is for arms (bicep curls and dumbbell triceps extensions) everything else machines .

Great post. Huge difference in training for BB / aesthetics - and training for athletics. Don’t see too many QB’s or pitchers with 20 inch arms

I do like certain machines for sure, though more of a free weight person myself. 35 days now (but who's counting) with torn rotator, I've been using them (machines) more of course (have to).
I haven't been this sore in years using the machines, doing higher reps, etc. It is a good change-up. (Though I cant wait 'til this damn shoulder heals).

Been using the Hammer-Strength for chest this past month (incline, decline, flat press) and they feel good.
If I can get the gym to buy a Basile Supinator, then life as I know it will never be the same. When I showed the gym owner, he said "I have one" and pointed at the dumbbells. (Silly me).

When you are closer to a contest, say, 6 months or so out, do you switch mostly to machines?
