The test is complete nonsense. If you are metabolically healthy you have nothing to worry about. If you aren't metabolically healthy then you should cut out the man made foods and sort out your priorities so you aren't scared of a cough.

I don't know anyone personally that has it or has taken a test.

The tests are terribly inaccurate. We have to test people 3 times at my hospital before we are comfortable with the results. If your not showing any signs and symptoms then it’s fine. Just stay away from elderly people or people that might have heart or lung issues.

The good news today is that it appears people who get COVID-19 develop antibodies. This may protect them from getting it during future outbreaks. Neither age nor the degree of symptoms seems to make a difference. Everyone who contracts it, develops antibodies. This may lead to a vaccine to lessen the chance of becoming infected with the virus and maybe reduce the symptoms.
If I were in SF 1900's situation. I would get a third test even if I developed symptoms of the virus.

The CDC in Oregon just released a map showing the number of COVID-19 cases per zip code.
West Linn has one zip code 97068 there are 29,693 people in this area. There is no data available here because we've had fewer than 10 cases reported, meaning somewhere between 0-9 cases. Since I have not ventured out of West Linn and Oregon City which also has 0-9 reported cases. It looks like the folks here must be doing something right.
Most of the folks who have become sick and/or died from COVID-19 in Oregon lived in nursing homes and had compromising health conditions, including very advanced age. Woodburn, Gresham and Hillsboro have had the majority of the reported COVID-19 infected people per capita. These three areas/towns also have the highest Latino populations.
Not sure any of this means anything. I just thought it was interesting. Obviously, it is good to live in an area where there are the least, if any, cases.

Yup, my wife's recipe calls for carrots, onion and celery plus herbs and spices. When they became available, she'd get a rotisserie chicken from market and used packaged chicken broth. In earlier versions she cooked the chicken and made the broth from scratch which adds considerably to the time involved. Using rotisserie chicken adds something extra to the flavor, IMO.

The people I have been in contact with know who they are and are getting tested.
Other than those people, have not really been in contact with anyone, other than Rory.

Just read where home tests should be available soon. Your doctor must request it for you. Not sure I'd trust a home test considering the current ones the facilities are using are unreliable as is exampled by SF 1900's experience.

I had a discussion with my son-in-law about multiple results. With regards to COVID-19 he believes once you test positive, no matter how many times you tested negative or the test was inconclusive, you should assume you have the virus and act accordingly, i.e. put yourself in quarantine.

A friend of mine had Corona back in March but she survived, and a work colleague / acquaintance of mine had it a few weeks ago, and died at an age of 45.

Well then, there will be no nasal swab for me since I've had a deviated septum most of my life. Maybe they can do a throat swab. A blood test would be fine too since I have no fear of needles.
For some crazy reason, I don't think I will be needing the COVID-19 test. Call it intuition or credit my mysterious 3rd eye. 8) Wearing dark glasses now to further increase my melatonin. I'll be careful not to overdose, because it might make sleepy during the day and give me nightmares or extremely vivid dreams at night. Oh wait! I already have those. What's worse is that I can remember them clearly.

I get why you might think this. SF 1900 is a master of the absurd. You never know when to believe what he posts or not to. That is what is so much fun about his participation on Getbig. He and I have a tiny bit of communication history. Enough for me to know that it doesn't makes a hill of beans to him whether you believe he's been tested or not. For reasons better not discussed, I think he is being truthful right now. Post what you like, but I think there is a strong possibility you will end up with mud on your face if you continue down this road. On the other hand, I tend to be somewhat gullible.
As a footnote, I am envious of Rory...but I have no ill feelings.

I did the testing last Tuesday and it came back positive, but I obviously didn't catch the virus on that day. Thus, I am assuming I've had the virus for at least 7-10 days.
So, far, still 100% symptom free.

Your doctor, whoever administered the test and the lab are required to report the positive results to the Department of Health. Serious infectious viruses, such as hepatitis A, B and C must be reported to the local Public Health Division. Wouldn't you imagine the same is true for COVID-19?

They seem to be doing it here in aus effectively, but that's a lot easier when there are so many fewer symptomatic cases.

I was required as a precaution.
I never said I trusted that the results were 100% truthful and accurate. Only that my results came back positive and based on those results, I “have” COVID19. Of course, it could be totally inaccurate.

I was recently tested for Covid antibodies. It was positive. Back in February I came down with flu-like symptoms and felt pretty off for about a week. Megadosing on vitamin C and zinc I recovered and feel fine.
If you get Covid and you are not sick already with something like diabetes, cancer, etc, it's no big deal. I've had influenza that was much, much worse- throwing up daily, having a cough like a dagger, delirium, etc.
If you are afraid of getting Covid 19 you are just a big pussy.

This virus came through a lot earlier than we were initially led to believe. My symptoms were: 1) massive fatigue suddenly, 2) shortness of breath, 3) body aches and 3) a sharp cough. I also had an incredible appetite all of a sudden. Going as high as 4000 kcal a day! I couldn't believe it.
Anyways the bulk of symptoms passed in a week and I kept having relapses that lasted a day on and off for 3 more weeks.
This hits people uniquely - a friend was admitted to the hospital for 24 hours because his breathing got bad. He is a cyclist like me and his recovery was rapid. So I think if you are in good shape this is just an annoyance. If I had lung disease I think I'd be dead - just like the flu would kill you.

I wouldn't be sure without an antibody test. This virus manifests itself in many ways apparently. I never had loss of taste or smell for example.

Finally got a crown installed today. It is to protect a cracked tooth from cracking more. The tooth was prepared and the crown made before the Pandemic. Several weeks ago the temporary crown broke, but it wasn't considered an emergency. The dentist and her assistant were suited up like space aliens.

lol I'm still ok with sex and rock and roll. Used to party hard with booze as a youth and finally gave it up because i kept getting severe headaches. Not like a hangover - more like a migraine. Came on literally in about 5 min after my first glass of beer or wine. Lasted for hours. Since I stopped I feel so 1000% better.

I got it at the local hospital here in Greenville, SC. I was told about it from a friend who works there - and it's available to the general public. It was a finger prick test. Easy as can be. I was told it takes about 4+ weeks to develop the antibodies so you might have not had time yet.
This virus came through a lot earlier than we were initially led to believe. My symptoms were: 1) massive fatigue suddenly, 2) shortness of breath, 3) body aches and 3) a sharp cough. I also had an incredible appetite all of a sudden. Going as high as 4000 kcal a day! I couldn't believe it.
Anyways the bulk of symptoms passed in a week and I kept having relapses that lasted a day on and off for 3 more weeks.
This hits people uniquely - a friend was admitted to the hospital for 24 hours because his breathing got bad. He is a cyclist like me and his recovery was rapid. So I think if you are in good shape this is just an annoyance. If I had lung disease I think I'd be dead - just like the flu would kill you.

One of them in his 50's, he had a bad time with shortness of breath. He went to ICU.
The other one (in his 40's) lost his sense of taste and had flu like symptoms for 10 days or so. No shortness of breath but the test came back positive.

I somehow missed this post but it is a very important one. I was mistakenly under the impression that asymptomatic covid positive tests were a sign that a person is home free. My cousin passed away from a series of strokes and finally a massive heart attack the day after Easter. Turns out it was blood clots behind his demise. Post mortem we learned he did have covid-19. Lesson is that all positive tests should be taken seriously. He never knew he had it to begin with.

I believe they are mainly sticking to nasal swabs. No, you don't have a choice. Whichever test they are given that day, you have to take that one.

It's so weird. Seems like some people know a bunch of others that get the Rona. I barely know 2 (including SF) both were asymptomatic( technically you could say 4 people as my aunts BF has it and a coworkers son in law has in) All asymptomatic.

Here's my conclusion to your riddle. You probably live in an area of high incidence of COVID-19 and you know a lot of people who are or in this case were symptomatic.
So far, I don't know anyone in my circle of friends and family who have become ill from the virus outside Rob. SF tested positive but as far as I know hasn't had symptoms. I do know some people who are at a high risk of becoming seriously ill should they get COVID-19. They are being exceedingly careful and taking every possible precaution to avoid getting it.

Luckily, I am already feeling better. Did take a nap this afternoon, which perked me up.
There is absolutely nothing I can do about being old, so it's best not to worry about it. I'm gonna be 76 next month. When I was in my teens and twenties becoming this old never occurred to me. I couldn't even imagine it. My grandparents died before I was mature and they were all younger than I am now when they died. I literally didn't know anyone as old as me until I was middle aged. My parents died in their early 60's.

I was finally forced to wear a mask at some businesses and we are supposed to at the gym (but not doing that and nobody’s said anything). I work almost exclusively with seniors and don’t know a soul that’s been affected. Obviously it’s just luck or happenstance - just seems odd that I could be so fortunate.
