I have endoscopy appt tomorrow and they'll knock me out for it. Question is, I live literally 5 min driving distance from there and they say I shouldnt drive. Is it really that bad? So just get uber? I'm sure there'll be tons of gay jokes so flame on! :-*

Getting buttfucked at a road side rest doesn't count as a medical procedure.

Not driving is sometimes an insurance thing. Something along the lines of your car insurance is void if you drive within x hours of y procedure.

I’ve had colonoscopies and endoscopies and they always say don’t drive and I pretend someone is picking me up and I drive home. It’s no big deal at all. Very stupid thing.

Not sure they'll let you take Uber or a cab afterwards. They usually require you have a friend or family to drive you home. In fact, I doubt they'd do the procedure unless that person is with you at check in.

I had wisdom teeth removed years ago and they made me have a driver. The person I brought with me couldn't drive a stick shift and that was my car so after the procedure I left with the person but then drove home. I didn't remember the drive home and she said I was all paranoid and driving down back roads to avoid cops. Took twice as long to get home. ;D

A DUI is a DUI . Doesn’t matter who got you wasted

Depends on how they sedate you. Best to uber.

You can't fake a chaperone, they are very strict about this. When I've had any procedure requiring sedation, I had to have someone with me before let me sign in. If that person wants to leave and comeback when the procedure is done, they call them. I've also driven friends to and from their procedures. I've had many colonoscopies since my late 30's. The routine is always the same. Fortunately, my last colonoscopy was actually the very last one because they don't recommend them when you are older than 75.

Arrange a ride.
You can really get your provider/Doctor in trouble if you drive yourself.

Yep.
You could be driving those few miles home perfectly when someone rear-ends you. The cop would, as a matter of course, ask you where you were and where you were going.

This. In addition, my own experience is that I'm quite high from the anesthesia and probably not fit to drive.

And I would say I’m driving to the store and back, none their fucking business.

Walk home, you must be 1 fat fuck !.

Take the Uber. Shit, it’s five minutes away, why risk it?
Always listen to your doctor and lawyer, and never lie to them either.

Overeating on dates,figs & kefir :D

Amen, brother, I just don't think that driving after being sedated is worth the risk.

Well goody for you. If you tried that at the clinic my doctor works out of.....well, you wouldn't have to because they would not do the procedure until they knew for a fact you had a qualified ride. Maybe were you live doctors and medical facilities have a laissez-faire attitude about such things.
Sorry for you about the kidney stones....my wife had to have surgery to remove them twice and she passed them once time she claimed the pain was worse than childbirth.

Same with me. Each time i had sedation for a procedure they made my ride come inside the office to check in. They would not allow an Uber.
Oddly enough when i was in the hospital for an illness years ago they allowed me to wheel myself outside in a wheelchair and wait for my ride alone.
Weird.

I was put under for an endoscopy and couldn't keep myself awake afterwards. Had to take a cab back home and sleep for another two hours. No way I could have driven back without falling asleep at the wheel.

I went to a Gastro about a year ago to check out my digestive track they went down the throat. Determined I had barrets esophogus which I already knew in addition to a hiatial hernia and chrohns. The problem is I started throwing up with a tube in my throat and could not breath. I stopped breathing and went purple and the DR had to call 911. I was dead on the table they had to revive me. When I woke up I had half a dozen EMT around me and the dr was freaking out said he never had to call 911 before in 20 years of practice. Said they thought I was a goner. They then tried to say I had vomit in my lungs and needed to go to the hospital as would be infected said I was purple dead and was not ok I said nah I am fine. They made me sign a release waiver saying I could die after arguing for 20 minutes to be allowed to go home. I never went back for the colonoscopy they wanted to do next. I have not seen a Dr since those fuckers will try and kill you. I drove myself home 30 minutes after being dead.

Did you roll coal in your lifted pickup truck on your way out of the parking lot? That would have really sent the message that you aren't a man to be trifled with.

It's not like they're going to chain you to a chair in the waiting room if there isn't someone there to take you home. They just require you to say you have a driver to cover their ass. If he has just had a colonoscopy it is too late to cover his own.

Goodrum would sedate you before you got to the doctor's orifice.

At least the exam would be free. :-X

So I just went and got it done. I was knocked out in 4 seconds and when I woke up I was little dizzy but within 3-5 minutes i felt completely fine, felt like I just had a great nap. Took cab home then drove to pharmacy to pick up my meds I dont know what the big deal is. I could've drove myself home.

If you'd been sedated, they might not have allowed that.
