You drunken oaf, you attack someone when they passed away...what the fuck is wrong with you??
-
Lets learn a lesson or two from those whove passed on god bless all
-
Up the cardio, drop the gear and slim down boyos.
-
Damn. He was a well known guy in the industry. Looked like he had a second chance after suffering a heart attack last year.
Life is fragile.
-

With your mindset you are unlearnable and incapable of improving humanity!

Glad you’re finally natural John Byrd. I enjoy your ideology, Live a good life and leave in a piano crate.
Meadows lived a good life as well.
-
Widows his wife and leaves his kids without a father because he couldnt live without being big. Still had to keep training like a intense madman. And still kept up with the extreme BB lifestyle to a degree. Not saying that he was hitting hard cycles still after his heart attack...but it is clear from recent pics and training videos, that the man was still pushing his body too hard. It is a mental illness and addiction. The only guy who did the right thing was Tom Prince....after his kidneys failed. At least Prince quit the entire routine of madness. Still on dialysis....but still alive for his family. Meadows was a good guy. RIP.
-
How old was he? R.i.p. he was a good guy. Seemed like a very smart guy who didn't take things too far. Was it his heart? Sucks... :'(
-

RIP.
Another death by genetic abnormality.
A very likeable guy.

All those years of juicing caught up with him.
In the old days guys juiced once or twice a year. Even then they now have problems.
Now they stay on 24/7/365. It's a death wish.

Your sig is perfect embrace the glorious mess that you are
People want to look jacked like a superhero but dont want to toil like one. Dont get it twisted , i want my body to be a work machine , how i look is of little significance
-
How old was he? R.i.p. he was a good guy. Seemed like a very smart guy who didn't take things too far. Was it his heart? Sucks... :'(
He was 49. He passed away in his sleep from what i understand so it was prob a heart attack. He seemed to be fine on his last video but its why you have to live each day to the fullest
-
It’s sad and I feel sorry for his wife and especially his little kid
But the guy had serious Health issues for awhile and should have left the bbing lifestyle behind
-
I think jared leto is older but looks much younger likely live to 90's
Watching meadows vid he looks like every 50 year old out there except hes definitly sauced up
I know a man who passed at 62 worked full time ate meat never drank or smoked ... Except took up drinking at age 62 n had a blood clot n died , no steroids
So even 60 years is max for meat eaters
-
Just heard he passed away
It's them 'dangerous doctors' in action again.
-
posted some great vids during lockdown showing how to train with tension bands..
Seemed like a nice guy
Young family as well..
-
This isnt the thread...shut the fuck up DW
Didn’t you laugh at onlyme and Derek Anthony when they died?
-
RIP. He was a likeable guy, and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing.
That being said, the last few years, even before the heart attack, he didn't look healthy. Always in great condition bodybuilding wise, but always on the edge health wise. Like they say, the two don't always mix.
-
I subscribed to his channel. He had heart problems a year ago. I watched his physique and strength over the past year and he didn’t back off the gas. Condolences to his family.
-
RIP - seemed like a nice guy but addicted to the lifestyle way too long.
-
he was still doing roids even after his heart attacks
I can't feel sorry for that.
RIP
-
Didn't he have congestive heart failure last year?
Remember he had his doctor on his vids.
That's very serious and yet he kept on pushing it.
I'm sad he died.
He made his living off his youtube channel so in that way he was trapped and had to keep up his unhealthy lifestyle.
Larry Wheels has trapped himself the same way.
-
He had great YouTube content. In the top 3 that I would check out. Clean, common sense info. Sorry to hear he passed but I always viewed him in the same category as Palumbo. The greatest desire and intensity necessary to excel but held back by shit genetics.
-
I did enjoy his training vids, one of the only ones I’ve ever watched
-
Wow...
PIP
-
I think that Beefyheavyweight was very accurate with his assessment of this death.
-
He had some good videos. Seemed like a pretty decent guy. RIP
THis is sad indeed, I liked the guy and remember him bringing incredible conditioning to the stage.
RIP Mountain Dog.
-
It's them 'dangerous doctors' in action again.
It's time to circle the wagons I see. Half of the docs out there barely passed med school.
-
No way.. he looked like the picture of health from every video I saw.
Wasn't he focused on longevity and overall health practices?
RIP
Was a leader in longevity and biohacking research
-
Died of a pulmonary embolism
-
Very sad......RIP .

Larry Wheels has trapped himself the same way.
He had a really great career in the financial industry before bodybuilding. He was also a very successful and respected bodybuilding coach. He most definitely wasn't trapped.
One of the nice guys in the industry RIP, but x4 for what beefyheavyweight said.

Interesting take.
I always thought John has an odd, or maybe different is a better word, build but comparing his genetics to that of Dave P might be spot on.
-

I used to converse a lot through PM on Mayhem back in the day.....really good guy.
Then when I saw him in person backstage with Shelby Starnes.......I didn`t want to interrupt him.
I wish I had talked to him now.

Sad. My good buddy who was a bodybuilder passed away recently. Trained with him for years. Heart attack. Just had bloods done and a work up and passed with flying colors.
-
John was vaccinated, if Coach is correct and he died of a pulmonary embolism then his passing could have nothing to do with his bodybuilding. These vaccines are causing a lot of clotting issues and I have personally seen numerous deaths of healthy young men with no obvious medical history shortly after vaccination.
John recently (Aug 2) tweeted a comment condemning anti-vaxxers:

The problem is the people behind the anti-vax movement are doing their best to strip the science details out of the conversation, so we get “vaccinated people can get/transmit virus, therefore vaccine is useless.” They do their best to bury the nuance beneath screaming headlines.
Michael Mitchell former Mr Universe and actor in Braveheart also died just 3 days after his Pfizer booster shot.
We will see many more in the near future I fear.

He did have serious heart issues due to bbing and it’s lifestyle
If this is true then his poor health with the vaccine didn’t help
-
And God only knows how the vaccine would interact with the bodybuilding drugs in his body.

I’ve been reading that the numbers of deaths are as low as 4000 and as high as 45,000. I know that’s a big margin but who knows anymore? 🤷♂️

Wes Shelby Starnes was a big name in the Michigan bodybuilding scene (I think it was Starnes) how well did/do you know him?
We we`re either in Cleveland or Pittsburg............... ...can`t remember......getting old aint for sissies. ;D
Dave, I only knew Shelby from Mayhem.....never said much to him but I conversed with John for many years through PM`s about training, nutrition, and his intestinal issues where he had lost a large portion of his intestine due to Colitis if I`m not mistaken.......he never gave up though.
He was busy putting Pro-Tan on Starnes so I didn`t want to interrupt him..... then later that day after pre-judging I saw him at a mall but he was with his wife and kids.
He never saw me I`m sure of that cuz he was such a nice guy I know he would have called me over to shoot the shit with him.
-

Around the 23 min mark he discusses his akinetic apex and thrombus (LVT). He also had a low enough ejection fraction to qualify him for a implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD) which I don't think he got.
Not sure what happened but without an ICD he was at higher risk of sudden death from an arrhythmia. I think he was taking anticoagulation and cholesterol meds.
RIP 🙏🏻

Didn’t you laugh at onlyme and Derek Anthony when they died?
I never laughed at Onlyme and i had my obvious reasons with Derek...i mean he theatened to murder Ron Harris a week before he died and told Special Ed that he was going to molest his son
-
If he died of a pulmonary embolism (blood clot), there is a very good chance it was caused by the vaccine. Turning your body into a clot factory when you already have heart issues is a recipe for disaster.
Just one more reason never to touch steroids or these vaccines.
Anyway, rest in peace, Mountain Dog. You were a class act among bodybuilders and a good man.
-
Interesting take.
I always thought John has an odd, or maybe different is a better word, build but comparing his genetics to that of Dave P might be spot on.
Nobody else but John (and Dave) could have developed the body they had with their genetic limitations like they did. If Flex, Melvin, Cedric, and other slack asses worked out half as hard and dedicated as John and Dave did, they would have won the Mr O at least once. Instead they relied on drugs. Make no mistake I am sure that John and Dave did a shit load of drugs too but they just simply willed themselves in and out of the gym to exceed what their bodies were capable of.
-

You actually believed anything Derek said? ::)
-
RIP nice guy, but looked like he subscribed to the don Youngblood school of ageing, after 40 TRT should be really be anyone maximum dose and thats along with a blood letting program. But he lived his life on his terms i guess as we all inevitably do. Still too young, hope his family can adapt and overcome his loss in time.

Do insurance companies offer decent life insurance plans to professional bodybuilding athletes; knowing that these guys are on drugs nearly year round?
-
lol no, red meat is actually good for you
Not quite correct. I think more accurate is that red meat, in smaller amounts, may not necessarily be bad for you, (and could in come cases be beneficial).
However, for a person with heart issues, among any other conditions, they would be far far better off on a plant based diet. This is really beyond doubt now by established science.

It is already sad john had a family but I would not be out on a football field if I had recently had a heart attack still though men his age have heart attacks and die who have never lifted weights in their lives we can't just assume it is from bodybuilding

No, but we can surmise that it was from years of takin' dem dare stayroids. I really have no idea who he was but I am certain his family will miss him.

Didn't Serge Nubret make it to age 71 or so? He was known for eating 6-9 lbs of meat (especially horse) in his prime.
Leroy Colbert made it to 82. If you've seen his videos, I'm sure you heard of his tales of eating 2 lbs of steak from a Romanian restaurant in his youth.

I don't think any of those guys you mentioned failed to win the O because they didn't train hard. It's about nailing that condition. We've seen what Flex could do when he nailed his condition. I would have given him the Sandow in 93. But the judges wanted ro-beast. So Yates got another Sandow.
That's the knock on Cedric McMillan. Ripped to the bone, he can hardly be stopped. But, he doesn't consistently come in shredded. Dennis James and Chad Nicholls claimed that they finally got Mahmoud "Big Ramy" Ellsbiay that Sandow by starving him into shape; whereas his old "Camel Crew" just wanted him big and full.

Too young pip...

no chance most won't support TRT therapy
-
Bill Phillips imo
-
Seemed like a decent man, well liked by everyone. Except, now that I think of it, PJ Braun (who did write condolences, so maybe they buried it).
Most sad for the kid or was it kids. And the wife.

One of the few really good guys in this cult. Huge loss both to his family, friends, and fans. This is a real shocker.

Nice guy, but with all his health issues this isn't much of a surprise.
PIP

was quite a thinker

I was very well aware that he had heart issues. It just came as a surprise or rather a shocker. My father was 83 years old and in poor health. We (family) knew the end was near, but when it actually happened it sticks you in the gut. Do you know what I mean?

Yes, lost my Dad last year at 82.

Seemed to have the best videos and least attitude of any fitness related youtube creators. Learned a lot from his videos tbh. 49 is too young for anyone. PIP

Yes, I can relate. Both parents went through hospice care on their way out. You know it's coming but still can't believe it once it happens.

Actually it was on Fox and other media outlets. John was a world renowed physique coach
-
So two of supposedly the most health conscious bodybuilding coach’s, Meadows and Matt Porter both pass away a short time after having serious heart problems? Both had families and kids and still couldn’t give up the lifestyle. And now it’s the families that are left to deal with this without them
-
Sad. My good buddy who was a bodybuilder passed away recently. Trained with him for years. Heart attack. Just had bloods done and a work up and passed with flying colors.
blood work is pretty fucking useless, go get your heart mapped

Widows his wife and leaves his kids without a father because he couldnt live without being big. Still had to keep training like a intense madman. And still kept up with the extreme BB lifestyle to a degree. This. Nearly everyone spoke highly of him and that says a great deal. May he rest in peace. Still, it is difficult to believe that someone with a family and so much to live for (others depending on him) would continue this folly.
I believe Seth Feroce gave up hard core BB for this very reason. It is one thing to live fast when you are single without attachments, but when you have a family it's time to set aside the selfish undertakings and put your family first.
-
Really sad news. He sounded like a great man.
-
RIP John, I can't imagine he's got little kids that won't have a Dad anymore, what a shame.
Reminds me of when Charles Poliquin died as well. Seems like there common theme that the bodybuilding lifestyle might not be the best for your heart.
-
John was a great guy. Even if you looked like you had never picked up a weight in your life he would spend 20 minutes talking to you about diet and training and he would this all night if the interest was there. He was also a hard-working business and family man. My heart goes out to his wife and kids. He will be genuinely missed by hundreds of thousands. Not many of us will be able to say that when we depart this life.
-

So he wasn't such a great person after all then. He was a drug addict. Like most bodybuilders. None of them goes off.
-
Any physical activity done to an extreme too often can cause early death. I have a number of cycling friends who always rode to the limit- constantly pushing it, even on 'chill" training rides. The number of guys 50+ who are experiencing atrial fibrillation (afib) is astounding.
These are super lean guys, don't do drugs, smoke, or drink excessively. They just beat up their hearts way too much. Two have had massive heart attacks in the past year.
Moderation, moderation, moderation...
-

Then explain Lee Haney's 8 Sandows. The Awesome One has been married for over 30 years with two kids, both of whom either graduated or currently attend college.
Brandon Curry (2019 Mr. Olympia) has a wife and kids. Is he selfish?
-
So he wasn't such a great person after all then. He was a drug addict. Like most bodybuilders. None of them goes off.
However he was prescribed testosterone by doctors who were aware of his situation. Unless he was adding stuff by himself then he was trying to make smart choices. Being hypogonadal might not be smart either, in his situation, not sure. I'm sure there are different opinions depending on the doc.
-
Just heard that Jon meadows passed away last nite in his sleep. Very sad. He was 49
-
RIP
Like most others here I enjoyed John's videos and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy and good family man
49 is way too young and I feel really sorry for his kids and wife. There is certainly something to be said for living your life the way you want and enjoying it while you're here. Everyone is free to live their life as they choose (which everyone here does).
RIP

RIP John "Mountain Dog" Meadows
Condolences to Mary (his wife) and his kids
“Dear Friends & Family, I am posting this on behalf of Mary. This morning John passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in their home. As you can imagine, this is a complete shock to her and the boys. She will update as soon as she can. Please know she is very thankful for all the prayers and support she knows her and the boys will receive from you all. -Brooke Nappo”

Horseshit. “very good chance” is the anecdotal bullshit button that people deep throat regularly

Then explain Lee Haney's 8 Sandows. The Awesome One has been married for over 30 years with two kids, both of whom either graduated or currently attend college.
Brandon Curry (2019 Mr. Olympia) has a wife and kids. Is he selfish?
Yes, but Lee Haney retired on top and was in his 30’s I believe
Curry, like you said won the O, and is/was going strong
Meadows knew he didn’t have the genetics and I assume he was already “retired” but still living the lifestyle to a degree
-
Didn’t you laugh at onlyme and Derek Anthony when they died?
Not sure about DA but Vince took the high road when onlyme passed.
-
Any physical activity done to an extreme too often can cause early death.
Yep, the older you get the less extreme you should train. Over 35 is time to reevaluate training priorities.
-
Sad to see mountain dog passing before age 50. :'(
Even sadder leaving behind his 2 kids with no dad ..... And to think he got a warning last year in May .....
I bet his doctor told him to find another hobby with the blood clotting issue he had going ... but he wanted to stick to bodybuilding life style "thick and vascular" beyond reason ...
I have a friend (47) had a heart attack earlier this year , same reason as Meadow ...he tells everyone " it runs in the family" since he doesn't drink or smoke ....
these type of sudden death aren't a wakeup call in this "community " by any means .
And To say Meadows looked healthy"?
I mean, I'm sad he has passed; he was a great humble well educated guy but he wasn't and didn't look healthy .
RIP mountain dog

He looked like The Ultimate Warrior a few days before his death. From his face and skin texture he didn't looked healthy.
What sadness and delusion for his family.

Horseshit. “very good chance” is the anecdotal bullshit button that people deep throat regularly
There's nothing anecdotal about the vaccines causing blood clots. It's well documented at this point, and the mechanism by which the spike proteins cause blood to clot is well established.
John Meadows died from a blood clot shortly after taking an experimental drug known to cause blood clots. It's not a stretch to suggest these things are related.
There are probably many more to come.
-
-
No surprise, he never looked healthy. Could have just cruised on mild doses but no ...

what's your explanation without evidence for the blood clot that caused his heart attack last year?

He kept juicing after numerous warnings/health scares. Sad for his family though.

No disrespect but his body looked starved of oxygen like many others that have gone same way Leffler, Youngblood, Hopstaken, that red purple look is not normal and certainly not healthy once your in your 40s. Shame he couldn't have slowed down and survived on TRT and blood letting or some type of management program, guy had a lot of knowledge to share.

How do you know he didn't slow down the drugs? Do you know for a fact he went against doctors advice and was blasting major drugs and that his body was starved of oxygen as a consequence? How could he train at all if he was in such a bad way?

John was a good guy though. Very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge for free. Never heard one bad thing about him.

It's the nature of social media to post cruel shit , to get a reaction .
It seems pointless ,BUT, the "cruelty" IS the point. Ignore it.
I'd like to see these trolling clowns, have to see to his wife and kids now .
Down deep these same folks would feel shame if they saw his wife and kids crying.
John the " Mountain dog" will be missed by the bodybuilding world.
But the real loss will be felt from close friends like you, his family , wife and kids.
His loved ones will miss John , "the friend, brother, husband and father".

Oh such bullshit. When my parents died there wasn't a line of weeping people coming to visit- just close family friends. It didn't register a blip outside that.
I never knew the guy, can empathize with his family for sure, but I won't lose a second of sleep over it.
Virtue signaling is a thing, I know. Just not mine.

I barely knew John Meadows and didn't cry when I learned of his passing.
His death won't personally impact by life , but, I show respect for the loved ones loss.
Basic human decency has nothing to do with " virtue signaling".
It's just simple basic respect for another human being .

There seems to be a disconnect between a guy like Meadows and reality.
Even his wife was "shocked" by his death. It never dawned on her that her husband was operating on the redline?
Like a guy with all his medical problems who continued to push his body would ever suddenly die?
Because you look good on the outside (but your insides are completely f*cked) therefore normal rules of health do not apply to you.
A race car driver who could never crash and burn? Delusion at its finest.

He looked much older than 49. His body was giving all the warning signs. It makes sense to scale back the "hardcore" when you are over 40 years old.

No family member is going to come out and say "well he's dead, we knew after his hearth attack he was on borrowed time".
People are soft, they never believe bad things like this will happen.
They were probably religious and thought baby jesus was going to save him.
John had serious medical issues, that are well documented.
The BBing community as a whole down plays them because nobody wants to tell the truth.
This lifestyle is VERY bad for your health. All of it, the drugs, eating, dieting, extreme workouts, etc.
The race car driver is a good analogy. Like Dale Earnhardt, people were so shocked when he died.
Why? Deaths from high speed racing events are common. He was also known to loosen his racing harness because it was uncomfortable.
People die all the time.
Nobody knows what John was taking up until his death, but knowing the BBing industry and the mindset it takes to make a lifestyle out of it; i'm thinking he didn't back off enough and thought he was superman.

Meadows was a great guy, talked to him multiple times, he really cared about people and was sincere. That being said I rarely come here, but I always thought he was pretty sharp, but if its true and he took the vaccine, well he was dumber than I ever thought.
Hope this helps

Hahahaha yes I am a retard for sure. Meadows had these pre-existing conditions and took some thing that has know blood clotting side effects for a common cold, at worse a flu. keep trusting the gubment and take the jabarooni. Bad analogy. People were shocked by Earnhardt's death because it looked like a minor crash.
How many times have we seen on ESPN (or local sports news) a racecar hit the wall, get his by 5 other cars, flip in the air, EXPLODE......all for them extinguish the flame and pull the driver out only to find he just has a broken arm?
Nobody thought that crash would have killed "The Intimidator".
Anyone who had Meadows' aforementioned health issues could have easily died at 49 or 50. Heck, some might not have even made it that far.
-

There is no such thing as a minor crash.
Just depends on how and where you are hit.

The only pro who directly blamed steroids for his own health crisis was Matarazzo. He blamed steroids without hesitation. Matarazzo warned people, like Meadows... and apparently Matarazzo’s warning fell on def ears.
The Warning:
“I'd have to say that everything that led to my heart problem began the minute I started getting serious about competitive bodybuilding. I have so many memories of being alone in a hotel room the week, five days or two days before a contest, and doing unspeakable things to my body — steroids, growth hormones, diuretics — anything and everything that we as bodybuilders do to achieve a certain look. It has affected my whole life, so to all those guys who are on an eternal quest to get bigger and bigger and who are so vain about their never-say-die attitude, I say, "Change your attitude." Worry about keeping that body of yours as healthy as possible, because it's going to have to last you not just through your next contest or to the end of your bodybuilding contract, but for a long time. And a long time for a human being is nothing. It goes by real quick, even quicker when your health is gone and you have nothing to stand on.” - Mike Matarazzo

It's a hobby among rednecks and hillbillies.

The other one I can think of also was Mike Morris. Not sure if Tom prince came around later on admitting steroids was the main factor later on, but I do recall him saying Advil when he first got kidney issues

No doubt John has pushed the envelope before, but I think our resident medical experts are forgetting that both of his parents had heart issues - and quite young, in their 30s. So John, juicing in his late 40s... Could have been worse, but I'm sure this will shake him a bit.
John's dad died of a heart attack in his 30's
John's mother had a heart attack in her 30"s and survived
John made it into his late 40's before having a heart attack and survived
John quit a very well paying job because he was making even more online
John is happily married and has a family
Your posting in your mom's basement eating a bowl of captain crunch and jerking off to free porn because you haven't been laid in over 3 years
John is winning
At first , He was afraid of dying and leaving his kid with no dad. Now he feels fine and he’s Totally certain Steroids had nothing to do and will resume exactly everything he was doing before heart attack. His own words.
:-\
-
⬆️ That post from Hipolito says it all
-
Where did john say steroids didn't do this ???
If he didn't step on the gas so hard he'd have probably lasted 15-20 years longer without any heart problems.
I don't think anyone can say any longer that it's not an addiction.
-
I've been in car racing my entire life.
There is no such thing as a minor crash.
Just depends on how and where you are hit.
Dale was just a normal man, he was not special.
Life is fragile, little things can make a difference in your health.
Like taking the shoulder straps off your harness.
NASCAR is a more controlled event. Look at racing across the entire world, people die all the time in a controlled environment.
It's a dangerous sport.
I'm not talking for a racer perspective. That's why I used the ESPN example thing. When the cars get hit 5 times, flips, and explodes, we expect the driver to be toast. Yet, as stated earlier, the guy ends up with a broken arm or something like that.

Welcome to Getbig.
You can leave at anytime.
Take your creepy schmoe vids of unknown BBer's with you.
Your vids have more "crotch" angled shots than anything i've seen in my life.
It's not like you are contributing anything other than self promotion on here.
Really I filmed over 200 of the videos of John Meadows if you dont like it don't watch I give unknows a name so people like yourself men and woman can actually get their name out therre.

Another video I filmed for John and was an honor to work with him and Evan centopani 2 of the best personalities in the entire industry

John said he never knew his father and this mother was a really bad drug addict and alcoholic (his words)
The guy lived his life the way he wanted and that's what everyone here does as well
-
Jeff Cavaliere raised a big amount for meadows. Fair play as he gave a lot of info out for free over the years.
-
A gofundme account? Really? Let me put on my surprise face. ::)
He was very well off from what I heard, why needed for GoFundMe?

I know, right? ::)

Every single bber has a pre existing condition, it’s NEVER steroids, NEVER
In order to become a competitive bber it’s required that you have a pre existing condition before you precede
I bet all the idiots are blaming the vaccine for his death, it’s not all the shit he took, and prior heart attack and serious health issues a year ago…
Yet, every steroid-using bodybuilder ain't croaking before he hits 50. Dexter Jackson competed in his last Olympia at 51. Vince Taylor competed in his 50s. Kevin Levrone made a failed comeback in his 50s.
Shouldn't all of them be in the ground, now?
Too many people associate success on stage with volume of anabolic consumption.
The narrative seems to be that, because Meadows didn't do that well (relatively speaking) as a competitive bodybuilder, he's taking more stuff merely to cling to his dream or something to that effect.
-
I know, right? ::)
Gofckyourself then

History repeating itself then.

not really

Maybe it was Aaron Singerman’s idea

Look Herman Cain
You are not following me here
Has nothing to do with dexter, Kevin, etc yet you picked the cream of the crop, anomalies in bbing
I was simply saying when health problems arise, they never blame it on steroids, NEVER
The potential side effects and health problems from steroids is very real
Genetics is everything, the guys you mentioned are also the elite in genes…..

This fundraising effort has crossed the line into the sleeze/sucker zone. When I first looked at the site the goal was $150k and they had raised almost 140k. Now the goal has been raised to $200k… so apparently it is a moving target that has nothing to do with paying a particular bill(s). It is just a cash grab. Shameless.
Anyone care to bet they will raise the target again?

Noticed that, first time I looked goal was 125k so they met ‘target’ at least twice at 125 and 150

Would be interesting to know what his all time winnings were from contests. Somehow I think it was less than this memorial fund.
Btw, Rudy Giuliani should be so lucky with his fundraising efforts. ;D

I'd pay the $199 for Rudy to dress in drag and rant about his views for not being paid by Donuhld.

The man was universally loved and respected by all in the BB community. The gofundme proves that. I wouldn't begrudge the family, and here I am thinking about those 2 boys, taking whatever people are willing to give and using it to give the boys are comfortable life. I bet you nobody donating is complaining that the goal is being moved. The family obviously did not know how much the BB world valued him.
He was a good man and will be missed. May he rest in peace.
Also lets not forget that he survived a heart attack but then died shortly after taking the covid vaccine from a bloodclot which is one of the most commonly reported side effect of the vaccine. This seems to have been buried amongst all the "he wouldn't downsize BS".

LOL classic BayGBM response ;D

Some of the tributes have really been telling of how he personally went out of his way to help many people in businesses etc with no no pay, nothing at all in return. Seemed like a great guy

You seem to have some knowledge of his vaccination status. Can you tell us what vaccine he received and when he got it?
-
Jeff Cavaliere of Athlean-X created that gofundme page and has donated $10000 towards it.
Feel bad for John's wife and kids, I think he was the sole breadwinner for his family.
Hope they receive all that money and put it to good use.

It's kind of disappointing to see people hear shitting on Meadows

I agree with Straw Man. Blaming this death on the vaccine is too dismissive of his destructive bodybuilding addiction. Especially considering that he had a heart attack already, and the large time frame in which Meadows had abused his own body with chemicals. For all we know, he was possibly on steroids for a large percentage of the past quarter century.

and blaming it on bodybuilding is just as stupid
If you have intimate knowledge of his medical history (not just some shit you read on the internet) then share it here or maybe just have a bit of respect for a nice guy who died too soon

I just know that he had a heart attack and possibly continued using steroids after the heart attack. Seems extremely risky.

I have no personal knowledge of his medical issues/history, what he did or didn't do or what his doctors told him to do.
I have no idea what cause the DVT which killed him
Do you?

Rusty Hanshaw donated 1000 wonder if it’s the same money that was donated to him.

How is helping his family a “cash grab”? No one is forcing people to donate. The government isn’t taxing people. The generosity being shown here is a testament to what a good guy John was.

I don’t know precisely what happened, but I am allowed to question & speculate. I’m sure that when Atwood, Matarazzo, and Nasser died, Meadows himself had some speculations and opinions.

Are anabolic known to cause blood clots?
From what I've read it's a somewhat rare side effect of glucocorticoids
I suppose when anyone dies at relatively young age people will speculate
I just think it kind of sucks that people here are jumping to all kinds of assumptions and impugning the guys character when he can't defend himself
This is a sad situation for his family and his close friends

Maybe. Maybe not. I, too, hope the boys are provided for. My critique has more to do with the pattern one often sees in gofundme drives: the moving target. If the target is $100k and it is exceeded by any amount that is laudable, and I probably would not comment on that. But raising the target every time you get close to meeting it smacks of chicanery. Most GFM drives are trying to raise money to meet a specified need… to pay a specific bill(s). If the target keeps moving then the message is ‘we want to milk all the suckers we can for as long as we can.’ An open ended fundraising effort that is not tied to any specific expense is, on some level, illegitimate.
I do not know anything about this family, but I do know something of human behavior. When money falls into your lap that you did not earn you spend it one way… when you earn the money, you spend it very differently. I hope the funds are placed in trust for the kids and is off limits until they are, say, over 25 or out of college.
An aside: a very good friend of mine had a sister who won a $20+ million dollar lottery. Shortly after winning the money she died. She had four kids: two were total losers; the other two were only slightly better. When she died she left the slightly better kids about $75k each. She left the losers about $50k each. She left the bulk of the money to her brother (who had his own money btw). In no time at all the kids burned through the money and came knocking on the Uncle’s door asking for cash. “We want our mother’s money!” Eventually, they accused him of stealing “their” money. He reminded them that their mom gave them the money she wanted them to have, and he kindly reminded them that they have no claim on the money left to him by his sister. As a gesture, he told them that if they wanted to go to school or buy a house he would pay for that. None of them were interested in either of those things. They wanted the cash—so they could burn through it again. He said no. They sued him twice to get the money and lost both times.

who cares
It's just a target
chicanery?
come on man
that word implies trickery or deceit
So far almost 4800 people donated in a matter of only a few days

Also it appears to have been set up by Jeff Cavaliere so he's the one probably running it

Either way you put it abusing the shit out of anabolics isn’t healthy, you are either lucky or not, like some people smoking a pack a day, drinking from day to night, some people will live to 90, and some will die before 50.

What's (mildly) interesting, is in >90% of the IG tribute posts, he's stood there next to them with a beet face. Yes, a lot are taken in the gym, but still... :-\

Anyone think it's possibly due to Covid? He was traveling to shows, training in gyms, around tons of competitors/fans. He obviously had preexisting conditions and technically he's clinically obese being like 5'5 220 pounds. It's definitely a likely possibility.

McCarver’s autopsy info was horrible. I can’t imagine that Luke Sandoe’s autopsy was any better.

The shocking part was that people were shocked.
There were warning signs all over the place before he died. Random nose bleeds, collapsing on stage, barely able and to breath and talk at the same time. His history of coaches were also guys who were not known for their conservative approach.

He mentioned in a recent video that he has some kinda test due at some point later this month, so we should know more.
I hope he isn't just burying his head in the sand over all this. Nice guy, but strong candidate to just drop dead in the middle of a workout.
-
And with meadows he was a ticking time bomb, heart attack last year, blood clots, yeah, we didn’t see this coming…
I don’t know much about Meadows, but apparently he had some sort of intestinal health scare in the early 2000’s. I would not be surprised if steroids played a role in that ailment.
Remember how Flex Wheeler and Michael Francois developed colitis after they became pro bodybuilders?
I know several people that developed colitis AFTER they started using steroids.

I really doubt that people donating care or even pay attention to the "goal" . If it was kept at $100,000 they would still donate. You really think they would say, "Oh, the goal has already been met. No use donating." Someone that they truly loved is gone and they want in some way to express their appreciation to the type of man he was.

How do you know he didn't slow down the drugs? Do you know for a fact he went against doctors advice and was blasting major drugs and that his body was starved of oxygen as a consequence? How could he train at all if he was in such a bad way?
Because he's dead, What the guy did last twelve months doesn't matter, he would have sealed his fate well before that point, . Your body forgives less and less as you age, doing high dosages in your late 30s and 40s cuts lifespan. Respect to the guy as he lived life on his terms. The actual comment was meant as no disrespect to him or the others mentioned, that would be hypocritical I too once pushed that envelope all be it at a younger age 20s and accept that i too have created some issues for myself to manage health wise as I age.
-
He was Irish and that was his skintone dumbass
Okay camera man, have a look at the photos posted in the thread pf John on stage, does that look like your average Connor McGregor or leprechaun. No disrespect was meant to him. You think with that look his BP was 120 /80. The guys passing is a tragedy but also a reminder to many of us to try and manage ourselves and bodies as we age or something similar could happen to us. Pushing the envelope is a young mans game.

I agree with all you said here. My only issue was with the assumption he was going against doctor's orders and common sense, taking big risks with drugs. I think he said he was off GH for a couple of years and only on a true TRT regimen. Maybe he should have stopped weight lifting alltogether and gone hypogonadal, who knows, but my guess is that he was just basically unlucky, meaning the blood clot maybe didn't have to do with poor choices on his part. If that is what it was.
Regarding how he looked, I don't know if you can say he for sure had high BP all the time just because he looked kind of rough or that his blood was like sludge. He supposedly kept tabs on those things.
There was some speculation by some that the initial heart issues were perhaps related to recent heavy Nolvadex use. It's suspected to sometimes cause blood clots. Sometimes the ancillaries, ironically taken to reduce steroid side effects, are more dangerous than the actual roids.

My doctor will never give me any anti oestrogen as part of my TRT, its to hard on HDL, believes including it in ongoing therapy just hardens the arteries prematurely due to its effect on HDL, he also venesections me every three months and im on 100mg every 7-10 days, 20 or more years ago i was like many taking a hell of a lot more and not being monitored at all. My HDL or good cholesterol is extremity sensitive to dosage, no doubt i did some damage, i stopped once i made the decision to not to pursue bodybuilding competitively furrter, did ten years clean with low test issues from no doubt exogenous use the previous decade, and the last ten cycling TRT on and off.
Heavy use at a later age to me is madness, but bodybuilding can be a form of addiction for many, i always try to encourage people to stay balanced in your approach as where you dont it can effect lifespan negatively in some cases.

Sound advice right there. I liked John, but in one of his videos, he said TRT for him was 500mg. Insanity. Anything 200mg or more is too much. I had an SHBG of 70 and 160mg was more than enough free test (30ng/dl before injection day), and I eventually lowered the dose and started donating blood because of hematocrit.

Sheesh - and of course, that level would not be prescribed by his Doctor, so he's self 'medicating' at this point
I don't suppose he mentioned what with..? Is it usually cypionate? I'll confess to not knowing much about HRT, but as I get older I'm getting more and more intredasted for some reason ;) ;D

If he had that strong of a family history he might have accelerated his disease process with the drugs but they might not have actually 'caused' the issue. It's all speculation.

Aromasin is a lot better on ldl than arimidex, many can be on trt and depending on genetics not convert much to estrogen, some not so fortunate.

You sure he said 500mg after his heart attack? I'm almost positive he didn't say that? I want to say it was 100mg, maybe 200mg for a while but he didn't say 500mg anywhere from what I saw. You could tell his heart issues had him rattled, I mean part of his heart was dead and not moving.

Nolvadex isn't an aromatase inhibitor, it's actually an estrogen so it doesn't affect cholesterol the same as an AI. But it does possibly have that blood clot side.
From what I gather estrogen is actually protective of the CV system and more and more HRT docs don't touch it, let it go as high as it does naturally. Estrogen is good.
Speaking of high dosages when you get older, I have a good friend who is 57 years old and his baseline self-administred HRT (lol) is 1,000mg. Then he adds stuff cyclically. Say 600mg of Deca or a gram of EQ, or a couple of Anadrols or all of these at the same time. He just told me he got off Anadrol - had been on for over a year. His hematocrit did run high but otherwise his blood work has been ok. But this isn't safe of course.

I didn’t say it was after his heart attack. I probably saw the video 2 years ago. Heart attack or not, 500mg TRT when you’re in your late 40’s isn’t wise. He wasn’t maintaining 20 inch arms at nearly 50 on 100-200 mg a week. That’s for sure.

The ECG result, Should have retired at that point and got the defibrillator pace maker put in, Real shame nice guy who shared this type of information that others can learn from has sadly passed away.

Don’t know what he was doing in terms of trt doses but one obvious thing that sticks out was his weight. It didn’t look like he downsized much. At 5’6 and 215 or so pounds he was in the obese category. That’s a risk factor for blood clots. Dropping down to a much healthier weight should have been a no brainer. Maybe he was struggling with bigorexia.

It would seem to me that keeping your testosterone levels, as well as all hormone levels, within the normal reference range would be healthier than having them outside the normal reference range whether it's too high or too low. Testosterone is not inherently bad for you or conducive to heart problems. It's a natural hormone that your body needs to function optimally.
I would guess that John's natural testosterone levels would be quite below the normal, healthy, reference range and continuing TRT would be a good idea.

Seems that way with all hormones. Want normal range. High T3 and low T3 can also cause heart issues.

So can everyone else. Every breathe you take.

That's what I'm saying but these fellas here say he should have gone hypogonadal. It's not an obvious correct course of action in my mind. Low testosterone is bad for the cardiovascular system.

john did not look good in his videos he was always red, and looked tired, he just couldnt accept the fact that he couldnt be a big muscle man anymore, he should have went off gear and slimmed down to a healthy 170

I doubt he could go off TRT since he probably couldn't produce natural test anymore.
He should have went to normal dosage and dropped weight.
Who would watch his youtube channel though if he did that?

great point iron, thats how fucked up this industry is, say he did do that and dropped to like 170 ripped he could do a whole video series on it,. but this is a bizarre industry people want to see the freak show, and since his channel was his main income he would have lost money either way, he didnt make shit competing. this will happen to alot of body builders on youtube, larry wheels is a prime example, he will either wind up crippled or die from a stroke or heart attack eventually.

Tbh, no body really cared how he looked, it was his knowledge on training and dieting that people were looking at. His channel was very knowledgeable and he was very detailed. No one was watching him lift heavy poundages, he could have slimmed down and he still wouldn’t have lost followers, he’s already established
Whether I agree with Charles glass or not, people aren’t watching his videos on his physique either, it’s his training, and his detailed explanation on various exercises, form and his unconventional style
Guys like Ronnie, Larry wheels, O hearn, were different, people watched their videos for the lifts, no one cared for Ronnie talking, doubt he knows anything about dieting or training unless it was told by him from chad or Brian Dobson

Agreed. No one is going to watch expert body building advice from a 170# has been. It’s just not gonna happen to any significant degree. It’s video: rightly or wrongly people want to SEE and what they want to see is someone bigger, more vascular, and more shredded than they themselves are. John was not organically a big man. Without the supplements he would have been tiny. Tiny = change the channel and watch someone else. He knew that. Unfortunately he was mentally invested in being big and simply could not give it up no matter the cost. :'(

Not true. John already built up a huge following, he was informative, and knowledgeable. Nobody was watching for his lifts
People watch Charles Glass all the time, he looks barely 150 pounds
If you built up a following, and have great knowledge, and content, you’ll go real far
Ronnie, Levrone, Larry, O Hearn, that’s a different story, people only watch them mainly for their lifts
Thought you guys were smarter than that

were you a personal friend of his (I wasn't)
I'm just wondering how you know that his YT channel was his "main income"
The guy had a website which had a subscription section and he appears to have been "coaching" a lot of people too. He also owned a supplement company.
Every time I think about this guy I just feel so bad for his kids. My father died a few years ago when I was over 50 and it was tough. I can't imagine how hard it must be to be a young kid and lose a parent
-
TRT didn't kill him, and most likely wouldn't have done anything to accelerate his cardiac issues, what he did prior would have. He could have even taken TRT after getting the device put in. as something i have contemplated myself what i meant was he should have accepted the cardiac advice and had the device put in, no retired bodybuilder wants a device inserted in their pec, it means the ride that is over is really over as it will effect your training etc, my TRT is run with my cardiologist on board, he thought it was a good idea as my natural levels were compromised by age and exogenous use a long time ago. But when or if he taps me on the shoulder one day and says i think you should underwrite the cardiac risk with a device, im saying yes not getting a second opinion. I just hope I get the opportunity to choose, many people dont.

Well said.
If my friend who passed recently told me his cardiologist recommended a device and he opted against it, I’d have punched some sense into him. Electrical issues with the heart can happen at anytime and cardiac arrest can be sudden death.
My buddy dropped from 3 clogged arteries and we were waiting on his bloods just a week before he passed. No sign of issues.

He may be natty, but he is a freak of nature, walking around like an anatomy chart year around, and he has small joints which accentuates his modest size, he probably have 17 inch arms which seem to ready to burst open his skin, his back has more detail than gray's...
I don't think off the sauce Meadows would have a similar physique at same bodyweight.

I think anyone who watches it will agree that John lived up to his own standards

Tru dat.
Word on the street is he's kicked COVID's ass like Chuck Norris, and is now angling for Co-Lead in the Rocks next big movie: "Pink Rock". It's a tender exploration of a hugely over-muscular modern man who is unafraid to (secretly) pin himself with PEDs multiple times per week while openly wearing manscara - and a touch of rouge - while baby-sitting homeless children who are being bullied about their gender-fluidity by the local heteronormative Russian Mafia..."
Apparently Big Mike O'Hearn was thinking about auditioning, but in the end he just didn't have the balls...

I agree with you. Arthur Jones articles and old vids are still popular. And if he were alive today and had a Youtube channel it would be widely popular.
Not exactly a muscle man.

BTW - what caused his blood clots last year before the vaccine was even available

The Covid vaccine. Try to keep up.

Sorry, I forgot just how fucking stupid you are
which vaccine did he get ?
there are three approved in the US (and only one has a history of blood clots in which I believe are less than 50 incidents out of 8 million + doses)

Is Meadows still dead?

Why has no one asked if he was saved yet?

It was just assumed that he was.

I don't know but one guru said John had a "social media management" crew. He was making enough money to hire people. Probably his schedule was also too hectic to manage it all.

But yet he needed a gofundme page set up

try again you ignorant kunt:

A study by Oxford University (https://osf.io/a9jdq/) found the number of people who receive blood clots after getting vaccinated with a coronavirus vaccine are about the same for those who get Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as they are for the AstraZeneca vaccine that was produced with the university's help.

I read somewhere that a guy who didn't know John set it up and then involved others who knew John. Then asked his wife for permission.
John was likely a multimillionaire so I don't know why his family needed a gofundme. Though as a sign of appreciation it makes sense.

It’s ridiculous. He’s already well off, of course his wife is going to take the money

BFD - that is one study, funded by Oxford who coincidentally helped developed the AstroAstraZeneca which has been show ...in rare cases.. to cause blood clots. Also for some reason that study didn't include the J&J vaccine which has also been show in rare cases to cause blood clots
Pfizer has disputed these results
BTW - that same study included this statement
A study by the University of Oxford found the risk of rare but sometimes-deadly blood clotting is roughly eight to 10 times greater in Covid-19 sufferers than among people who have received any of the first three Western-developed vaccines widely available.
Now, back to your claim that Meadows got the vaccine
Same question - which one did he get and how to you explain his blood clots last year prior to any vaccine being released
Since we know that COVID causes blood clots at a much greater rate than any of the vaccines I wonder if it's possible that Meadows had Covid last year (perhaps asymptomatic) and the blood clots last year were a result of being infected with Covid. Given that he was so open on Youtube I think he probably would have mentioned it if he had Covid so probably not likely.
BTW - PURE SPECULATION on my part.
-

According to Google his net worth was over 3 million.

Middle class by getbig standards.

He had a good career even before his channel, clearly didn’t need to compete to make money, boggles the mind that a gofundme was set up, even if it’s true, a stranger set up the account, the wife could have declined and gave back the money
I don’t doubt the guy was a multimillionaire
