I agree with Straw Man. Blaming this death on the vaccine is too dismissive of his destructive bodybuilding addiction. Especially considering that he had a heart attack already, and the large time frame in which Meadows had abused his own body with chemicals. For all we know, he was possibly on steroids for a large percentage of the past quarter century.

and blaming it on bodybuilding is just as stupid

If you have intimate knowledge of his medical history (not just some shit you read on the internet) then share it here or maybe just have a bit of respect for a nice guy who died too soon

https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/dvt/data.html#:~:text=The%20precise%20number%20of%20people,(also%20called%20venous%20thromboembolism).

I just know that he had a heart attack and possibly continued using steroids after the heart attack. Seems extremely risky.

I have no personal knowledge of his medical issues/history,  what he did or didn't do or what his doctors told him to do.

I have no idea what cause the DVT which killed him

Do you?

How is helping his family a “cash grab”? No one is forcing people to donate. The government isn’t taxing people. The generosity being shown here is a testament to what a good guy John was.

I don’t know precisely what happened, but I am allowed to question & speculate. I’m sure that when Atwood, Matarazzo, and Nasser died, Meadows himself had some speculations and opinions.

Are anabolic known to cause blood clots?
From what I've read it's a somewhat rare side effect of glucocorticoids

I suppose when anyone dies at relatively young age people will speculate

I just think it kind of sucks that people here are jumping to all kinds of assumptions and impugning the guys character when he can't defend himself

This is a sad situation for his family and his close friends

The man was universally loved and respected by all in the BB community. The gofundme proves that. I wouldn't begrudge the family, and here I am thinking about those 2 boys, taking whatever people are willing to give and using it to give the boys are comfortable life. I bet you nobody donating is complaining that the goal is being moved. The family obviously did not know how much the BB world valued him.

He was a good man and will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Maybe. Maybe not. I, too, hope the boys are provided for.  My critique has more to do with the pattern one often sees in gofundme drives: the moving target.  If the target is $100k and it is exceeded by any amount that is laudable, and I probably would not comment on that.  But raising the target every time you get close to meeting it smacks of chicanery.  Most GFM drives are trying to raise money to meet a specified need… to pay a specific bill(s).  If the target keeps moving then the message is ‘we want to milk all the suckers we can for as long as we can.’  An open ended fundraising effort that is not tied to any specific expense is, on some level, illegitimate.

I do not know anything about this family, but I do know something of human behavior.  When money falls into your lap that you did not earn you spend it one way… when you earn the money, you spend it very differently.  I hope the funds are placed in trust for the kids and is off limits until they are, say, over 25 or out of college.

An aside: a very good friend of mine had a sister who won a $20+ million dollar lottery.  Shortly after winning the money she died.  She had four kids: two were total losers; the other two were only slightly better.  When she died she left the slightly better kids about $75k each.  She left the losers about $50k each.  She left the bulk of the money to her brother (who had his own money btw).  In no time at all the kids burned through the money and came knocking on the Uncle’s door asking for cash. “We want our mother’s money!”  Eventually, they accused him of stealing “their” money.  He reminded them that their mom gave them the money she wanted them to have, and he kindly reminded them that they have no claim on the money left to him by his sister.  As a gesture, he told them that if they wanted to go to school or buy a house he would pay for that.  None of them were interested in either of those things.  They wanted the cash—so they could burn through it again.  He said no.  They sued him twice to get the money and lost both times.

Either way you put it abusing the shit out of anabolics isn’t healthy, you are either lucky or not, like some people smoking a pack a day, drinking from day to night, some people will live to 90,  and some will die before 50.

Anyone think it's possibly due to Covid? He was traveling to shows, training in gyms, around tons of competitors/fans. He obviously had preexisting conditions and technically he's clinically obese being like 5'5 220 pounds. It's definitely a likely possibility.

Like Dallas McCarver, the autopsy for Meadows will probably reveal a lot of unknown health problems.

McCarver’s autopsy info was horrible. I can’t imagine that Luke Sandoe’s autopsy was any better.

The shocking part was that people were shocked.

There were warning signs all over the place before he died. Random nose bleeds, collapsing on stage, barely able and to breath and talk at the same time. His history of coaches were also guys who were not known for their conservative approach.

And with meadows he was a ticking time bomb, heart attack last year, blood clots, yeah, we didn’t see this coming…
