Each person can only pick one.
Mine: Fight Club
It ain't that good, people.
-
Pulp fiction
-
Star Wars. Never cared for it, certainly wouldn't wait in line for it.
-
Pulp fiction
Agreed. Never understood all of the hype.
-
2001 a space odyssey

Natural Born Killers ::)

Star Wars. Never cared for it, certainly wouldn't wait in line for it.
Not a fan boy by any means, but you could see a precedent being set. Same thing with Star Trek.....It hit at the right time.
But those other movies are one offs, that I can't see how they garnered such a following. Just like Kill Bill, they are Redbox quality. Weirdo movies, that got an artificial push to influence the ants.
-
Not sure about most overrated I’m of all time but thought reservoir dogs was utter shit.
-
Ludicrous replies.
Titanic.
End of thread.
-
"Dune".....what a piece of unwatchable crap IMO.
Gotta` agree,I always hated "Star Wars" too................never watched it to it`s completion.
-
But what do I know? My favorite "actor" is Jean Claude Van Damme. He's what got me into weightlifting, MMA, and martial arts.
Van Damme had a huge influence with MMA going mainstream in the U.S.
Bloodsport.....Kumite... . those were the inspirations of the first UFC's. No weight classes, no holds barred. Awesome.

Your taste in music totally sucks too.....Mr. Boloton.....Van Damme missed out on several Oscars. LOL 'D

I disagree, old man. My taste in music varies over all genres and all generation's.
From The Temptations to Marilyn Manson, and everything in between.

I didn’t get the hype for Heat. Boring and Pacinos character was ridiculous and totally unbelievable

I thought Heat was a good movie. Not great, but good.

I liked it but all Pacino did was yell all through the entire flick like a total idiot.....he was a great actor when young and hungry, but not anymore.
-
Any Star Wars movie
-

He also got me hooked on Belgium waffles.

Dune was visually spectacular, otherwise it was a mess.
Black Panther gets my vote though. The movie was just hot garbage and it stood out even more as it was at a time when Marvel were could do no wrong.

Guys, we are talking about your most overrated of all time. Black Panther was certainly overhyped, but it wasn't a bad movie.
Fight Club, has become a millennial favorite. Way overrated. People act like it's one of the greatest movies of a generation. No.

You might of well just said the Bible.
It's like Twilight for old people.

I don't think you understand the meaning of overrated.
A movie can be okay or even pretty good, but still get more praise than it deserves. That's what makes it overrated.
-
“Hunger Games”

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Are you special?

“Hunger Games”
Bhank special edition DVD set.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Are you special?
LMAO just because someone doesn't share your views on a movie doesn't mean you have a hissy fit.
Black Panther was garbage.
Fight club was a good movie for it's time, but I get why a sissy boy like you wouldn't like it though.
-
You might of well just said the Bible.
It's like Twilight for old people.
I was 9 years old.Saw it at a drive in movie. It started out ok there were these monkeys jumping around then all a sudden they were flying around in space for about 3 hours.First time I ever cussed in front of my parents. I yelled “you’ve got to be shitting me!!”My dad knocked the Hell out of me.It’s the reason I never watched Star Wars

Don't talk about Fight Club.

I agree I couldn`t finish even half of "Black Panther" either, and the other movie that dude starred in I believe it was called "Seven Bridges" or something....a total waste of time....never finished it or even came close to.

Dude, you kept bread on Michael Boltons table singlehandedly.....he sux bigtime. LOL ;D

ROCKY

Very disappointed in getbiggers saying Black Panther meaning that they voluntarily tried to watch the movie

Top Gun
Anyone who was man enough to serve in the military can see how pathetic this movie was.

Yup it sucked...........mostly guys that grew up in the eighties love it since it brings back childhood memories but it blows dead dogs IMO.

I have to agree here. The movie bored the hell out of me.
All the other flicks mentioned here I thought were pretty good for the most part, pukp fiction, heat, black panther, fight club all worthwhile for various reasons.
Another overrated shitshow was Avatar. Dont know or care what the movie was about. I saw it in the theater and stopped giving a fuck after 30 mins...
This may be sacrilege but Scarface. Meh. It was ok. It's benefited greatly from from trashy hip-hop "culture" it was ok.
-
Children of men.
Most underrated: Vanilla Sky
-
Vanilla Sky = DAMN GOOD FLICK.
-
Of all time? Citizen Kane. So boring it warps spacetime. I watched it for 7 hours and still didn't catch the end.
-
My pick for most overrated? Citizen Kane. Not a terrible movie, but it is consistently rated top ten of all time. Not even close.
-
But what do I know? My favorite "actor" is Jean Claude Van Damme. He's what got me into weightlifting, MMA, and martial arts.

LOL. So you got “into” those things??? By “ into” you mean you fantasized about having the self-discipline to actually DO them? Because you didn’t become morbidly obese by doing any of those things. 🤣🤣😂🤣🤣 MMA, bodybuilding!!!🤣🤣🤣

You might of well just said the Bible.

Might “OF”?? Wtf does that even mean? Fckn fat retard

I can't think of a movie to add to this thread right now, but...
Shizzo likes Michael...Bolton?
I admit it, I'm a Michael Bolton fan!
I celebrate the guy's entire catalogue! For my money it doesn't get any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman"!
-
Every Marvel Movie under Disney!

This may be sacrilege but Scarface. Meh. It was ok. It's benefited greatly from from trashy hip-hop "culture" it was ok.
Never seen the connection, never heard one person make the connection. Scarface came out during the British Music Invasion. Maybe you are talking about Boys in the Hood, Menace to Society, etc.
-
"The Outsiders"
Just recently watched it again, thought most of the acting was terrible. I can't believe some people think it's one of Coppola's best films
-
Vanilla Sky = DAMN GOOD FLICK.
You’re not kidding. Puts me in a very weird mental state.
Phantom thread does something similar.
-
Underrated movies.
Looper (Bruce Willis) and Escape Plan (Sly & Arnie)
-
Forrest Gump
-
Pulp Fiction.
-
Predator, so shitty. Kidding, any Tarantino movie is overrated and over the top bullshit, but people praise as "cult" and magical.
-
pulp fiction and forrest gump are two of the best movies ever
what more do you want out of movies if those two don't cut it for you?

Underrated movies.
Looper (Bruce Willis) and Escape Plan (Sly & Arnie)
Ah! Good one, Flexacon. I can add to the underrated list:
Manhunter, which was the prequel to The Silence of the Lambs, and stars William Petersen and Dennis Farino, was excellent, IMO. It was remade as Red Dragon with Edward Norton, but honestly, I prefer Manhunter. The music, the mood - great stuff. And I'm a fan of Red Dragon too, but I think Manhunter is better.
There is also a little known Oliver Stone movie called Talk Radio with Eric Bogosian, that I thought was really good. It's about a Jewish radio host that got killed by a White Nationalist type. Usually I HATE Jewish victimization movies, but this one was pretty balanced, and touched on some topics [Jewish media influence] that would likely never be mentioned today.
-
Forrest Gump
I liked it when it came out but can't stand it today. Everybody thought it was so sweet how Forrest took care of the whore after she friendzoned him for 40 years. Total Simp.
-
Never seen the connection, never heard one person make the connection. Scarface came out during the British Music Invasion. Maybe you are talking about Boys in the Hood, Menace to Society, etc.
No. I know what fucking film im talking about. I know when it came out. Im talking about its continued success. It continues to enjoy a large following due to pop culture references. In 90's and early 00's was referenced on quite a few records along with other trashy merchandising.
Anyway its nothing special despite its cult following.
-

Saddam Hussein was a big fan!

I've never seen it but I assume 50 shades of gray would be unwatchable.

Oh yeah. I watched it with a female friend. We stopped watching if maybe 40 minutes in. It was boring AF, IMO.

300 was awesome. Over the top but good.
-
„300“ - could never get pass 5 minutes
I did the same thing, but I was expecting it to be another Gladiator
Watched it again 10 years later expecting it to be OTT like shizzo said, kinda more like a superhero movie and ended up really enjoying it.

Never seen the connection, never heard one person make the connection. Scarface came out during the British Music Invasion. Maybe you are talking about Boys in the Hood, Menace to Society, etc.
Scarface got a big push from hip hop afterward. They love the pulled yourself up by your bootstraps arc, plus the flashiness of it. I like it too, it's got quotes for days, and is a fun movie, but would be in the 7/10 range without the hype. Carlito's Way is a much better film.
--------------------
Also Talk Radio mentioned earlier is a fine film, and the real story that delves into "The Order", and the survivalist / WP stuff that was going on at that time is really interesting. Salvador and Talk Radio are both good Oliver Stone films you don't hear much about now.

My underrated movie: Dodgeball.
"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!"

The Joker, jk, it was a great film

Moonlight
The Shape of Water

I won't go near that bullshit. Noah's Ark, is the most fantastical story in the Bible.
Completely nullifies everything else. Only the zealots, the dumb, and those with something to hide, actually believe that shit.
Ancient Aliens has better points.
-
It's also why I have never watched "Passion Of The Christ" from, Mel Gibson.
Mel, is my dude when it comes to war movies and period pieces. Braveheart, The Patriot, We Were Soldiers, Apocalypto.....
I'm sure it's a well done movie. I won't go near it.
Organized religion, is the biggest sham in history.
We may have Tesla's, but the the masses are still just as dumb.

TBH anything during Kevin Costners run...starting with Dances With Wolves... then Bodyguard. Both Critically acclaimed and commercially successful. They were ok and nothing more.

Wooden Spoon Award for worst casting ever. Ray Liotta drips psycho energy every second he's on screen. Delivered his lines as if he just decided to chop everyone into little pieces.
"Because you're not invited."
You'd be like "It's fine. Everything is fine, Ray. No problem at all. There's no problem here."
Guy was terrifying. Dismembered prostitutes in the freezer scary. No wonder Kevin had daddy issues.

Never heard of Moonlight or The Shape Of Water.
There is one thought that I have: If a studio names something "The Shape Of Water", they have transgender balls.
Water, is any shape you want it to be.

That's true. They say the human body is 60 percent water, so I guess in your case, it's shaped like a fat cunt. Also, please learn to use a fucking comma correctly.

Ancient Aliens has better points.
The tale of a cataclysmic flood appears in many of the world's unrelated religions and civilizations
It seems very likely such an event did occur in the earth's past.
Theories as to what caused it include an asteroid impact, a shift in the earth's magnetic poles, etc.
There is a theory that the earth's magnetic poles shift periodically which results in cataclysmic destruction of the then existing human civilizations.
The movie "2012" was based on these theories.

Cataclysmic floods I agree with. It goes with the natural cycle of things. We have ice ages, we have droughts, and we also have smart people.

"The Outsiders"
Just recently watched it again, thought most of the acting was terrible. I can't believe some people think it's one of Coppola's best films
Oh that's disappointing - I was literally talking about this to my best bud the other day - we watched it in this kind of private school viewing, so it went down well to a room full of English toff kids being bullied to fuck by the Masters
Not sure whether to go through with the re-watch now - maybe better to leave those memories be..?
Moonlight
The Shape of Water
Birdman
Joker
Blair Witch Project
Damnit! That was my pick - I was hoping to get to the end of the thread and say "remember this POS?"
It was absolute garbage - not a single moment of even slight tension. Relied totally on someone being a city person who is scared by rain and twigs...
-
So what's the deal with the new Top Gun movie?
Is it any good? I had no problem with the original.
In fact, it has one of the best examples of a proper movie soundtrack song. I think of Top Gun every time this song gets played.
-
Waterworld was an underrated overrated movie. Wasn't as bad as it was made out to be.
-
Waterworld was an underrated overrated movie. Wasn't as bad as it was made out to be.
It wasn't good, compared to other Kevin Costner movies. The Postman was shit too.
I liken it to Mel Gibson. I could give two shits about the Lethal Weapon movies. However, the man is a genius, when left to his own volition.
Kind of like me.
-
Star Wars. "Use the force" climax was a 2600 year old lazy writer's Deus ex machina plot device. Dandy robots, annoying muppets, unrelatable waif Mark Hamill, and neurotic, depressive Carrie Fisher, nepotistically robbing more deserving girls of acting roles. They all get medals at the end, it's like sitting though the "Oscars".
-
Same thing with Bruce Willis. The original Die Hard was a classic. Each successive sequal was more cringeworthy.
Watch Tears Of The Sun. It's a great movie.
I don't say great often.
-
Definitely agree about 2001. Just watched it and it is not good.
Here's my unpopular choice: Shawshank Redemption

Sometimes it depends when you watch the movie.
If you watched season 1 Prison break which was an excellent prison drama, some of Oz and then later watched Shawshank Redemption, you might be underwhelmed.
But if Shawshank Redemption was the first Prison drama you watched then you'd be more inclined to find it compelling.
I watched Shawshank first and thought it was great, but I know I wouldn't enjoy it as much now. Prison Break S1 has ruined Shawshank for me by being fucking amazing.

I agree, a lot of movies that you thought were great just don`t hold up well over time, but in the case of Shawshank if I hadn`t seen it in a long time I can still enjoy it.
-
Speaking of cringey movies that don’t stand the test of time, I was watching the first 30 minutes of Back to the Future 2 the other day. The futuristic scenes in that movie are extremely lame and were way off plus they had to replace Marty’s girlfriend and went with an uglier downgrade. The movie gets better as it goes, but the first quarter of it was pretty bad. The first one is still great although a couple of Getbiggers who shall remain nameless recently ruined the entire Johnny B. Goode scene for me (due to pissy pants Chuck Berry’s fart videos)
This part ruled because it reminds me of someone….

What about that new Elvis movie?
Not old enough to appreciate his talent.
I'm in the Michael Jackson era.
Never got the Johnny Cash thing either.

This is the worst acting job I’ve ever seen for an otherwise great fighting movie. Was he supposed to be retarded? Why is he wearing a NY Giants jersey and a SF Giants hat? Once again, was he retarded?
YOU ARE NOT A TANAKA!!!!!!

"The Room" is the most underrated movie of all time. More quotable lines than Pumping Iron.

It will have it's time again, as you said it's a classic.
Like Escape from Alcatraz is over 40 years old now and has aged horribly, but it's got to the stage where that's part of the charm now. Shawshank will get there too.

Great movie but like you, I`ve seen it way too many times....I`ll have to wait quite a while before I watch it again.

Dude. This is one of my all time favorite movies.
OK USA!
Your’s, mine and Trump’s, my friend.
but 20 minutes after popping it into the VCR he got bored and switched to an old favorite, a Jean-Claude Van Damme slugfest called Bloodsport, which he pronounced ‘an incredible, fantastic movie.’ By assigning to his son [Eric] the task of fast-forwarding through all the plot exposition — Trump’s goal being ‘to get this two-hour movie down to 45 minutes’ — he eliminated any lulls between the nose hammering, kidney tenderizing and shin whacking. When a beefy bad guy who was about to squish a normal-sized good guy received a crippling blow to the scrotum, I laughed. ‘Admit it, you’re laughing!’ Trump shouted. ‘You want to write that Donald Trump was loving this ridiculous Jean-Claude Van Damme movie, but are you willing to put in there that you were loving it, too?’”

Speaking of films that don't hold up well, I recently watched for the third or so time over the years, I thought I was going to really enjoy seeing again, but it actually turned out pretty cringey (dialogue, accents, acting etc.). I was surprised how much less I liked it than I thought I was going to...
Tombstone
:o
You asshole. Tombstone is great. I like the Kurt Russel version better. Especially because Val Kilmer played Doc Holiday as well.
You fuckers must be trolling.

Shawshank
Without a doubt
How anyone can take the end seriously after working out he couldnt have secured the poster after going out head first is beyond me
-
Game Of Thrones, Breaking Bad, or The Sopranos?
I've never watched any of these shows, but I hear that they are too good to miss. Which of the three do yo think I should start with?

Hmmmmmn...............I never thought of that.

This is the worst acting job I’ve ever seen for an otherwise great fighting movie. Was he supposed to be retarded? Why is he wearing a NY Giants jersey and a SF Giants hat? Once again, was he retarded?
YOU ARE NOT A TANAKA!!!!!!
I think the young actor was probably told to "act like a young JCVD".
If you look at it that way, and that is correct rendition of events, he did a good job. ;D

This part ruled because it reminds me of someone….
i think the opposite, love the futuristic scenes and think once he goes back to 1955 to get the almanac the movie gets slow and boring, and arguably too dark for the overall tone the series had

I think maybe I just don't like that Tim Robbins guy, and I've seen enough of Morgan Freeman too.

Watch it again. It's stupid.

Each person can only pick one.
Mine: Fight Club
It ain't that good, people.
Fight club is a philosophical movie. It's about materialism. In a philosophical sense it's a great movie about current times and attitudes.

It's dumb. It's Sixth Sense, before Sixth Sense. In the end, you find out that he is a nut job with multiple personalities.

The Dark Knight series and especially Heath Ledger's performance. It was good but people love to wayyyy overhype both.
-
Definitely agree about 2001. Just watched it and it is not good.
Here's my unpopular choice: Shawshank Redemption
2001 has to be taken into context of when it was made. Today, yes it is a shit movie but at the time it was groundbreaking. A lot of classic movies are like this. Like Citizen Kane. Some say one of the best movies ever made but it has to be in context to when it was made in the 1930s.

Bullshit. Heath Ledger's Joker made that Batman movie the best since the original.

Batman and Robin with Chris O’Donnel, Arnold the Cuck, and Uma Thurman stunk like you after a walk up a flight of stairs.

Ledger died before its release that's probably why they went on about his performance so much.

I agree with this, insofar as it did not have any real kind of audience until the LSD crowd discovered it (true story).

Cancer tier movie.
Batman forever was very good though and gets a bad shake.

That's true. But other old movies like Wizard of Oz are more watchable than Citizen Kane. I tried to watch Citizen Kane once because all the critics had such great things to say about it and couldn't make it the whole way through.

Yes, movies like Island of Lost Souls (1932), All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) and Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) still hold up as excellent films and are even older.

The Godfather
-
The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's ok but definitely not worth a cult following making it an occasion for 50 years.
