I'm 36 and I'm starting to freak out about my age. I've never cared about doing young people things like partying looking good and all that. Most of my hobbies are old man hobbies.
But I'm starting to realize your body just starts dying, and it freaks me out. I always imagined aging as a very gradual thing, where it's mostly just slowing down until you hit 70 when everything falls apart.
It's becoming obvious that aging isn't like that at all. It's not a gradual slope, it's a series of events where body parts just stop working/dying etc randomly. When your young body parts get injured and sometimes it never fully heals but most of the time it does. When you get past 40 body parts don't rebound they're just gone for good, and you never know what's next, everything is fair game.
If you've been raised online the part that screws you up most is that your social interactions online don't age. When you post online your age is irrelevant. You talk to 25 year olds the same way you talk to 55 year olds. It's becoming super easy to forget your age. I always thought this was an amazing part of the internet age.
I'm starting to realize we as a society have a timebomb. Millenials are not gonna take turning 50 well. We live like we're freshman and unless you have kids there's nothing that is gonna help you transition. There's not gonna be much aging gracefully, in the past you have peers who are of the same age and that helps you transition, but we don't have that nowadays.
We already see it with Wine Aunts, but I think it's gonna hit very very hard. In the past people had religion and family to help transition into getting old. Millenials are just so spoiled they aren't built for adversity, especially one where there's no way out.

I've had an "age crisis" since about your age lol, 46 now. Thinking about age, seeing the age related decline, thinking you are now an "old man all of a sudden." It's been and is hard to accept. I ask friends if aging freaks them out but they seem much better at accepting it lol.
Regarding longevity and testosterone I read this piece the other day. You are not supposed to have high test when older and it ages you even faster. You're NOT supposed to have a sex drive like an 18 year old. If anything you should supplement with estrogen!
https://novoslabs.com/testosterone-replacement-therapy-and-anti-aging/
Guys, if you have the patience to read that I'd like your opinion.
I already know I'm unlikely to let go of the "high" testosterone, in my head it's like the life force itself!

Probably an biologial reason for why test decreases after mid 30's. Has to be a protective mechanism...

Im 57 and just getting going! ;)
Seriously though, you'll hit a spot where you've lived quite a while (you start to care less), then when very old, you look FWD to checking out.
Especially in insane times like we're in, w/ no going back... I know a couple guys in their 80's who look FWD to the long rest...

Oh I get getting old is never easy. I grew up with my grandmother, I've seen it all. My mom's mom took aging very well(born 1928) my dad's mom took it horribly(born 1943). I talk to boomers and they are even worst etc.
Like just look at hair dye. An entire generation of women in their 50s no longer go gray. It fucks you up, because it makes you feel like no one is aging.
I think it's worth mentioning, genx in my opinion is objectively cooler than millenials, in the sense they've done cool shit, had interesting sex lives, and can talk in interesting ways. So unlike in the past the generation gap makes you think people 20 years your senior still think and act like young people.
My parents and my inlaws were born in 61, 62, 63 and 64. None of them have white hair, and they were pretty healthy until basically covid started and then they hit a brick wall. Everyone of them could easily still pass for 50. My father and mother in law even works out/runs twice a day. My parents just built a cottage with almost no outside help. But it's like they're about to jump from age 40 to age 70 in 5-10 years.

Oh i get the testostorone bit, but that's sort of the point hormones dropping seems only natural. Like I'm prepared for that, I have old man hobbies, I have no desire to be out fucking models, partying etc.
It's the other shit that gets to me, knees, ankles, hibs, etc just crapping out and never rehabbing. bladder control issue, not being able to eat certain foods, not being able to sleep right, losing hearing, losing IQ points etc.
Like I'm overweight and 5 years ago I could carry being overweight just fine. I mean I knew I looked like shit, but I could move get around and get faster and stronger with exercise. Now it just seems like I just can snap back into shape.

Yes I imagine they will lose their minds as they lose their minds over everything.
Best not to worry about things you cannot control. Completely pointless.
-
As far as "high testosterone" goes, sides can come when too high (like any drug or compound).
Just keep it in "sort of" high normal (700-ish) and I think most will be fine.
Too many clowns pounding a gram or more for "TRT" and its laughable...

The other day I was playing baseball in Boston and this dude got up to the plate who looked like he stepped into a portal in the 1920s and just appeared on our field. RF moved in because he was shorter, and the pulled the ball over the RF head. As he was going into second for a double, he fell on the turf, rolled, and his helmet fell off and went into CF. I ran in and gave it back to him.
Anyway, found out the next day the guy was EIGHTY TWO. Forget the hit, run, etc....broseph fell hard and got right up no problem. And he hit it off our regular staring pitcher.
So I do believe it's gradual if you keep moving and never stop putting in work.

Just turned 68 last month, and I feel like a kid.
Stop worrying and get to living !

For sure, like I said I want to be an old man the coolest member of my family was always my grandfather. He's the only guy who had the balls to make cock and ball jokes at our Christmas dinner.
You've just met my grandfather.
But I just watch liberals my age get infuriated by the idea that gender is a thing. I see guys watching porn with 18 year old porn stars, and I can't imagine them every wanting to fuck a 45 year old millenial.
My gut is telling me it'll be covid all over again, where the whole world has to get turned sideways because a millennial hits 50.
-
Everyone gets old dude that`s what makes me laugh when people like Hanky makes fun of some of our ages......it`s as if he himself is beyond ageing.
-
You're not supposed to be worried, you're supposed to be living.
If you're like me you'll cruise right through your 50's no problems at all.
But once you hit 60, yeah shit starts catching up with you. The weeds you were running through are now grabbing around your ankles lol. Life becomes more about pain management.
I sometimes wish I was doing TRT but I'd have to hide it from my wife, she won't have it.

As usual, you are correct brother!
“Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?"

Especially when hankenstein is physically like an old man already, falling apart at the seams.

No shit and he calls a lot of us old.
I benched 300 weighing 150 pounds in the late 1980`s (double bodyweight) and when in good shape I typically do DB Rows pyramiding up to a 100 pounder for sets of 10 with a dead hang to stretch out the lat in the bottom position, but I`m old and weak and never ever even weighed 200 pounds. :D

You only have a short time left and have no one to pass the wealth on to, so just enjoy life to the max.
Worst thing is many of these types are really stingy with money, like diluting their orange juice with water to save money. Logically you'd spend it all but it's not about logic, it's a personality type but I still get irritated. :D

I'm a happy dinosaur in these weird fucked up times - I want no part of this PC / Libturd
Stupidity & say it as it is, if & when asked about anything - I'm as entitled to my view & right
to be accepted & understood as anyone else.
The acceptance & understanding thing works both ways. ;D

35 is about where I began to notice a fall-off in athletic performance.

I have an old neighbour who's all alone, no relatives no nothing. Lives a pretty shitty life.
I always wondered but felt too rude to ask, why doesn't he sell up the house for 300k and then rent a room in a nice nursing home + spend part of the year banging/getting banged by ladybois in thailand or a similar place.
You only have a short time left and have no one to pass the wealth on to, so just enjoy life to the max.
A nursing home will kill you quick.
Best thing he can do is stay in his own home. Hire out maintenance if necessary.

But fuck it. "Modern day" work can easily be seen as a subtle incarnation of disguised slavery. It parallels the labor endured by slaves toiling in fields, with certain notable distinctions. Instead of receiving direct sustenance, we are compensated with money. Our dwelling, while detached from the master's house, is often located a few miles (kilometers for my blokes) away for convenience. Additionally, we are granted two days off each week, creating an illusion of freedom that can captivate our hearts and minds. Gone are the days of physical chains that once bound us to a specific place and to one another. Instead, we now find ourselves in a world where advanced mechanisms of employee surveillance ensure our adherence and punctuality within the confines of the workplace.
We're fucking robots.

That's the spirit not thinking life is over once you reach 40.

I think there's a difference between renting an apartment/house in a retirement complex compared to a proper nursing/retirement home.
It's tough to be a home owner when you can't do the maintenance anymore but you don't have enough cash flow to pay people to come in. You also have to reapply every year for your driving license here once you reach a certain age, so your independence really drops.
If I was in that guy's shoes, I'd take my equity out of the house and just enjoy life. Holidays/"holidays" etc. Just have a small apartment to lay my head in when I'm back in the country.
You said nursing home.
Do you know what a nursing home is?
A nursing home is not a 55 and over community like The Villages.

Thanks....overall I feel great......a few problems but after many years of training,I think that`s to be expected.

Kill yourself.
Fuckwad.
-
There’s a scene in Madmen where the doctor tells him that the age can feel like it hits you all at once.
I think there is some truth to that.
I’m 42 and feel excellent now, but in my mid thirties I had some injuries all around the same time.
When we are kids it’s like we drive sports cars for bodies, but as we age we drive Buicks which need to be treated differently.

Don't start freaking out until you're in your late 40's. If you're in good shape physically- as a getbigger I'd assume you are at least 220 lbs of muscle with abs- then it's mostly in your head. 50 is a mindfuck though. It's harder to roll with shit after you've been living in it for half a century.
-
OP is 36...things don't start really hurting on the body until 42. ;D
-
We're fucking robots.
Funny you should mention this.
The word literally means "servitude" in Czech.
In Russian, "rabota" ( работа ) means "work" , "labor."
Czech writer Karel Čapek coined that term in 1920 for his play "Rossum's Universal Robots."
Interestingly, Čapek's robots were artificial human-like beings made of flesh and blood who could think for themselves, like the replicants in Blade Runner.
-
LOL she's probably afraid I'll turn into a monster. And our doctor says no, but she says no to most things.
One of my pet peeves is women making choices for their men, not "accepting" this or that. Some men are so controlled even their woman is disgusted. Not saying this is you but there are a lot of these men. In this case with HRT, I've seen women on HRT forums researching their husbands HRT drugs. Nothing wrong with wanting to know but if they want to make decisions for their men... no.

Strangely enough, people dont like being reminded they are all capable of mass murder given the right circumstances.
I also dont subscribe to the woke ideology which is rife in the company I work.
Apparently I have to sit down with someone from the Diversity and Inclusion team
That wont go well because I will just tie them in knots with science reason and logic.
They will then just report back that Im a racist bigot (thats the defualt when they have no argument)

Utter leftist propaganda.
Go look at Vince McMahon at age 57-65 and tell me he would've been better off supplementing with estrogen for Christ's sake. Hell, at 52, Vince probably had the absolute best times of his life.
-
The real life crisis is imagine how utterly lost you will feel when by 45 you aren’t married, no house and no kids.
I know single people at 45+ unmarried, no property, no kids who seriously think in the next few years they are going to settle down and start a family. They’re also the most unstable people and highest substance abuse by a mile.
I have had young blokes ask me how I got to where I am and I say getting married in my 20s and a kid at 30 is how I got here. Without that change of maturity and responsibility early on, your purpose is basically indulging just yourself.
You can buy a motorbike at 40. You can take a trip to an Italy at 50. You can’t use a Time Machine to go back and be a young family. This will fuck you up mentally more than physical changes.

Based on personal experience, I disagree with that TRT advice. I have been on a modest dosage of testosterone cypionate for more than a decade due to having hypogonadism. According to my lab results and my primary care physician, I am exceptionally healthy. Like with anything if you overdo TRT with ridiculously high dosages, you will likely do more harm than good.
One statement in the article I agree with is that "human longevity is about extending health-span and lifespan, not about being 18 again," specially the part I underlined.
The author claims people with Klinefelter’s syndrome have low rates of ischaemic heart disease, allowing that they have higher incidence of diabetes. What is not mentioned is that people with Klinefelter syndrome can experience breast growth, breast cancer, osteoporosis, infertility, and learning difficulties.

Look, I said I'm choosing testosterone regardless of longevity. At 46 sex drive for example is crazier than at 15 (tren: nectar of the gods or the devil?) Question is is that ideal? Say how is that going to work with a postmenopausal wife, if you're married? It's interesting that most religions also try to make you suppress your sex drive. You could debate this forever. But I'm choosing the high androgens.

You might continue with HRT even if you knew it might cost you a few months or even years. More quality, less quantity. Some people though are obsessing about dying and will do anything to live longer.

Some were critical about his approach. He is suppressing his test and gh via calorie restriction (to live longer) etc but then he adds synthetic hormones to compensate. In their mind he is canceling out the longevity effects of the calorie restriction since lower IGF and test is part of why calorie restriction "works."

You might continue with HRT even if you knew it might cost you a few months or even years. More quality, less quantity. Some people though are obsessing about dying and will do anything to live longer.
I don't know if this fella has been discussed here before. He is doing everything he thinks will extend his life. Here is his supplement schedule:

Obsessing is stressful. Stress is a killer. How ironic would it be to die sooner from the stress of obsessing over how to live longer?

that supplement list...... wonder if he understands that the body has to process and filter all that shit... no thanks... as for aging... stress and diet... they'll take you out.... my grandma lived to 103... losing husband and sons... amazed me she didn't fall apart... she told me to always keep busy, do interesting things and don't be angry so much.. I work really hard to stay in shape in my mid 60's. I'm under no illusion I can do what I use to do or look like I use to look. So many younger guys think aging won't affect them. Like they can beat it with will.
When I was younger I remember running with some guy that could barely break 6 minute miles. I remember being amazed how slow he was and I wasn't even a distance runner but a sprinter. Now I could never string together sub 6 minute miles. For around two decades from around age 30 to 50 I always did my last set of power clean and jerks with 225lbs as part of my bodybuilding type training. I can't do one rep with that now. Maybe if I specialize in it but I will never be able to do that again putting it in a typical bodybuilding split. Anyone that says they can do in their 60's what they could do in their 20's never pushed them self in their 20's so they have no clue.
What happens to me is my mind is willing but the body isn't. Such things as barbell benching is gone. I benched for over 40 years and now with a torn labrum in one shoulder and a partially torn rotator cuff in the other the movement just hurts too much. At least dumbbells don't.
I'm still fighting the good fight. I trained chest and bicep today ending with a 3.4 mile run in the 85 degree heat. Tomorrow is legs. I will vainly say I get compliments on my fitness all the time.
I'm no one to give advice but here goes. If it hurts don't do it. Damaging your joints or tendons isn't the route to take as you age. If squats hurt your knees, back or hip try machine squats. If that doesn't work keep searching for a suitable substitute. That applies to all exercises. As you age VO2 max can really decline fast. Keep up your cardio. Keep a power component to your training. Being strong is meaningless if you can't sprint and jump. Stuff like Power cleans, jumps, sprints, hops and stuff like hitting a heavy bag will take care of explosive power that really suffers as you age. Ever watch an over 55 soft ball game? It's pathetic how slow they run to first base. This is something I neglect but I'm working on it. Never neglect a little stretching and that also applies to shoulders/pec region. I choose to not use TRT. Numerous reasons why. I found most guys into bodybuilding are mega dosing test calling it TRT. If you are 65 and have more testosterone in your system than when you were 19 you are using rationalization to lie to yourself as you juice. Also don't be afraid of high reps. You can use less weight if you use higher reps and shorter rests between sets. On top of it you might be surprised that you get better results with moderate weights.

The worse thing about getting old is that your world gets smaller as time goes by. You get to a certain age and life starts to take things (family, friends, places) away.

Not just that, but supplements are totally unregulated so there’s no telling what he’s actually taking. Even if they meet label claims, they could be full of heavy metals and other undesirable stuff.

Obsessing is stressful. Stress is a killer. How ironic would it be to die sooner from the stress of obsessing over how to live longer?
I didn't read much on his site but I'm sure he has a routine for reducing sress haha.
Andrew Huberman has a routine he always says is the most important thing he recommends. In goes something like, in the morning, 15 minutes or journaling/meditating then 15 minutes out in the sun/daylight. To get sunlight through your eyes, important for everything. I'm sure it's good, I know it works for a bunch of things, but who has the time for this?
There's this popular longevity scientist called David Sinclair. His supplement stack is way shorter but he thinks these may slow down aging. Apparently doesn't endorse any brands:
Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN): 1g per day, in the morning
Resveratrol: 1g per day, in the morning
Metformin: 800 mg, in the evening
Vitamin D3: ideally 4,000 to 5,000 IU per day
Vitamin K2: ideally 180 to 360 micrograms per day
Statin
Low-dose aspirin: 83 mg per day
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA): recent status unknown
Coenzyme Q10 (coQ10): recent status unknown
Spermidine: 1 mg per day, in the morning
Quercetin and fisetin: 500 mg each, once per day, in the morning
TMG (trimethylglycine or betaine): 500 mg to 1,000 mg per day
I'm on the Metformin, mostly for better insulin sensitivity (eaten a lot of sugar). Non prescription alternative: berberine.

Some good advice for guys getting older.Myself included I am 64 and just do what I can do.Lift 4 days a week but do cardio almost every day. I do a couple of hard rides a week on my airdyne but I go for several 45 minute walks a week.Diet has actually gotten a bit easier for me as I just don’t get as hungry as I used to get.Hang in there guys

This is a very good post, especially the bolded.
However, I do believe with proper mobility work you can still do those exercises that "hurt", and I'm starting to believe you can hold tremendous strength into your sixties. I will also admit I get by without doing much mobility work, but I REALLY need to make it routine - I have to adopt that Krankenstein mentality and get it done.

The Airdyne is still king of winter cardio for me. I have an old gold one from the 80s that I've flipped the odometer over several times.

I don't know how old you are but joints wear out with most people. Exercises that hurt aren't always the result of a lack of mobility work. Guys that have been to war with weights from their teens to their sixties have damage in general. Ruined shoulders, knees, elbows and hips are common. I know there are exceptions like the big fat 65 year old guy that does three lifts and still puts up good power lifting numbers.
Strength is important but it's pursuit often leads to damage to your body. That damage can include joint, tendons, torn muscles and ligaments. Many guys in their 60 have said a variation of, if I known I would still be training hard at this age I wouldn't have.... fill in the blank in my younger years. Take just shoulders as an example. Arnold, Corney, Ferrigno, Stallone, Zane and laundry list of top names have had shoulder surgery. Hip surgery a few names come to mind like Ferrigno, Bass and Grimek. I could go on.
As you age good health and fitness is becomes increasingly important. That's why I mentioned the various components in my prior post of strength, explosive power, endurance, VO2, mobility and balance.

54.
I do get the joint pain part totally, and I have a slap labrum tear in my right shouler.
What I have found is I can still lift what I consider heavy for my age/weight, but it just takes longer to recover - like I can make strength gains with 8 days between major lifts.
I just think it would be even better with a mobility focus.
Yesterday's workout:
15 min warm up - airdyne, sleds, plyo, bands, warmup sets on squat/bench
30 min e2mom: Squat x 5 / DB bench x 5
10 min: Airdyne - cycle 50 sec / sprint 10
5 min: hold bottom of squat and stretch.
I think that combo covers a lot of what you're saying, but maybe I'm wrong.

One of my pet peeves is women making choices for their men, not "accepting" this or that. Some men are so controlled even their woman is disgusted. Not saying this is you but there are a lot of these men. In this case with HRT, I've seen women on HRT forums researching their husbands HRT drugs. Nothing wrong with wanting to know but if they want to make decisions for their men... no.
I hear ya brother.
Don't worry about me. ;)

Have seen some of his stuff.
I thought it was interesting when his test crashed that he decided to use replacement. He didn’t go into it but I would Wager given how long he had done this for his ‘man servant’ May have not Worked which is not part of his plan.
If anyone knew Animal Where this guy is was pretty much where Animal was 20yrs ago. One meal, load up anti inflammatory lies, reduce free radicals, cardio vital and low weights. Animal didn’t like carbs though but I think ultimately it was too challenging to leave carbs out.

I can imagine they might perceive you as quite the downer around the water cooler.

This^ Slaves in the American South also got several months off per year during the winter months. People in the Middle Ages worked less than we do today.

Cool story bro...

I haven’t found it harder to maintain low body fat levels as I’ve gotten older.
It’s seems the reason for the “Middle Age Spread” is more a matter of becoming sedentary and having social activities revolve around eating, as opposed to metabolism slowing down.
As far as lifting, I think it’s better to shelve the balls to the wall attitude, and leave a few reps on the table. Get the quality contractions in the middle of the set.

I have to disagree with you. In just one day I used up 600 calories between my lifting session and cardio. That's a huge deficit to the daily caloric count. Don't eat the two oreos. I count every calorie daily. If I give myself 2000 calories a day and that's practically nothing it makes a big difference that 600 calories from working out. I can either eat more because of the deficit or use it for maximum results. That NY times article that says exercise is a waste or losing weight citing a garbage study is trash reporting. Anyone that doesn't do any exercise will see a weight loss if they start an exercise program. It's math. A pound of fat is roughly 3500 calories and a pound of muscle is 600 calories. Create say a 500 calorie deficit from working out and combine that with a 500 calorie deficit from diet will show results that will amount to roughly an 8 pound loss in a month. Granted I'm talking about someone that doesn't exercise and that starts a cardio/lifting life style. Use the free Lose it App on your phone. Easy to use. It's an orange scale if you look for it among the apps. It counts calories from food and from working out. It will even give you the date to the day you will achieve the goal you gave the app if you don't cheat.

science says yes reality tends to say no
There are lots of variables when dieting, insulin sensitivity for one.
If you ate a 70% 20% 10% diet your body would look different than if you ate a 10% carb diet the rest protein and fat even if the overall calls were the same

This.
Cardio is for fitness and mobility, not weight control.
When road cycling I struggled to keep weight off. 1,200+ calorie training sessions leave you wanting to eat constantly. So many road cyclists are fit as hell but fatties.
TDF riders talk about struggling to get enough calories in. The reason they can’t get the calories in is because the teams stuff them with pasta so they can’t eat much in order to control their weight. The bulk calories are dished out during the stage with loads of sugars. Post race, hit them with pasta to keep the hunger monster at bay.

The point he made is that it’s a lot easier to eat excess calories than it is to burn them off. Simple math can prove him correct.

It’s mostly true but cardio definitely accelerates the effects of a diet. In my experience, to a greater degree than expected by the calories burned during the cardio

Getting super lean, I looked 10 years older, becoming a fat ass, 5 years younger :D
-
Cardio to be effective for fat burning has to be done week in, Month in, year in...
In other words a regular thing in your life, not just ´cause you want to suddenly get cut.
I bike ride not miles & miles but i do a 1 hour cycle most days & vary my Tempo.
keeps me in shape & keeps my belly flat.
along with some weight training it´s all i need.
no need to over think it.. :D

Seems like the sweet spot is being able to pinch about a 1/2 inch around the lower abs. Your face will have the defined jawlines without the gaunt look.

Yeah, if you’re doing a lot of cardio and then tighten up the diet, the fat definitely comes off faster, but you still don’t want to depend on cardio. What if you’re injured and can’t run or bike? You
can always diet.

The worse thing about getting old is that your world gets smaller as time goes by. You get to a certain age and life starts to take things (family, friends, places) away.
With my 80th birthday being slightly more than a year from now, I can attest to what you wrote. Not only do the people you care about move or pass away, making new friends becomes more difficult, I have found. Also, work is a big part of folk’s social interactions. Although I enjoy retirement, finding ways to interact with other folk can be a challenge.
My hearing started failing several years back. Not being able to hear well is incredibly isolated. I find that I seldom instigate conversations for fear I'll end up either asking the other person to repeat themselves or pretending/faking that I heard what they said and hoping that I didn't give an affirmative response when it was an inappropriate one. Noisy environments, like restaurants, exacerbate my inability to understand what someone sitting across the table from me is saying. One of my best friends had throat cancer awhile back. The cancer is in remission, but it left her with weak vocal cords. She talks so softly that I only understand about 20% of what she says.

Any bodyfat level below 10% does that.

Do you wear hearing aids and still have this issue?

You appear to be of the phaggot variety.

I was going to say something similar.
What's a "Wine Aunt"?

Listen, if you’re breathing, you can jam metal and please Odin with a warrior mindset.
Fortress lifts very ponderous weights and backs down burgers like a Viking.
There’s zero reason to concern oneself with not breathing, because at that point, you are not breathing.
Young, old. What’s the difference.
Metal, iron, beef, nude broads … Hoist the shit up.
I am going to be 55 in January. I can sit on my ankles with 500 across my back and grin defiance and domination.
Shit hurts sometimes, sure. That’s good stuff. Gotta sport some drugstore goggles to read the fine print in the CD booklet to find out where it was recorded. Sexy sophistication in Fortressland.
Swing the hammer as hard as possible and then take whatever time it takes to reload the barrels.
Either kill me or get the frick outta my way.

If your bloods show your testosterone as under 300ng/dl then why would she have a problem with it? If you were diabetic would she have a problem using insulin ? If you your TSH was sky high and T4 low would she have a problem with you using T4?
Sounds like your wife wants you in a place she can control you, give her a good judo chop and tell her you are getting bloods done this week!
-
I have an old neighbour who's all alone, no relatives no nothing.
Why don’t you invite them round for a coffee once a week? Explain the benefits of life optimisation, tell them about TRT/HRT , it may be the reason they need to get out of bed in the morning.

As you age you have prioritize training your heart muscle. Bodybuilders don't care about it because they can't show it off on stage in a thong. As V02 drops it increases your heart attack risk. Check your V02. Time a run for a mile and a half. Then google a V02 chart.
Like I said before if you burn 500 a day through cardio, 250 through lifting then in addition lower your calories 500 a day the fat will melt off. Using a calorie counter like the free phone app Lose it is a great help. Tells you point blank when you had enough food for the day. Look for the orange scale because there are other apps with the same name. It's simple to use. You might need a food scale for some stuff. They have just about every food in it.
Cardio doesn't have to be complicated. Starting your day with an hour of treadmill walking will make a huge difference in fat levels in a month if you're not doing cardio now. Running is even better.
Sad part about aging is how guys in their 60's can't sprint, keep up with a chubby middle age soccer mom jogging or do a vigorous sport because they are out of shape. Lifting is great but it's only one part of the equation with exercise.
One sure thing is everyone will age. Everyone will have have age related health problems. Just hopefully we can put the odds in our favor by doing things that statistically helps. If you are in your mid 60's seeing people your age is a shock if you are in shape. Listen you can live to be 100 if you have the right genes without training but nobody wants to live that long if it means for the last 40 years you looked like hell and got tired walking.

How much time do you spend doing the cardio to lose weight as that is the question, not developing aerobic capacity which another goal entirely.
If your goal is aerobic capacity then yes, do cardio like running, biking, etc.
Does it make sense to spend hours every week doing cardio to burn calories or is it more efficient to just skip eating the Oreos?
Now, the Oreo is just a tongue in cheek example as an Oreo only has 53 calories. It could be an alcoholic drink or a beer. Say you have 2-3 beers or drinks a day is another example that you now have to spend time burning off.
You often post about running around in the heat feeling like crap. Now if you like running, and you do, that is fine but isn't it more efficient to just skip the "Oreos"?
According to this website you have to run 37 minutes at moderate pace to burn approx. 500 calories if you weigh 170.
So, how many hours a week are you spending doing that?

there's some arguments to be made for that excessive cardio damages your heart more than it does good

all species have an average number of heart beats which dictates life expectancy , the faster the heartbeat the shorter the lifespan.
Cardio increases heart rate, the offset is once you are fit you have a lower resting heart rate.
Swings and roundabouts...

Swings and roundabouts...
that is pretty much exactly the take I have.
A number of contractions before the heart's muscle cells and connective tissues starts detoriorating from not regenerating fast enough and accumulates damage/dead cells and scarr tissue
ofcourse diet and lifestyle, stress, hormones and whatnot elongates or shortens this number of heartbeats.
also when the pulse gets high and your heart contracts harder and faster to supply blood, there will also be a higher demand on the heart and possible damage if you do it too often before you let it recover. It is after all a muscle. A different kind of muscle than skeletal muscle but even so it needs more "rest" to recover aswell. So personally I don't think you should raise your heart rate to the max with like HIT training 2 days in a row, you need to let it rest and recover.

Nope, but you certainly are.

Why do you talk like you are retarded?
Do you mean "speak" or actually "write" in this case?
Nothing worse than a grammarnazi that can't do better.

There is always Plan B as well. "B" as in biopreservation.
Think of it as a bio-engineering challenge and your body is the experiment.
