Why?

LOL she's probably afraid I'll turn into a monster. And our doctor says no, but she says no to most things.

I’m mid-thirties and don’t really feel any different from my twenties.  Stay up on your stretching & flexibility, keep the weights moderate, eat healthy, etc

this, don t give a fuck about anything anymore

If anyone asks me anything I now tell them exactly what I think, I dont sugar coat anything.

Not going great at work at the moment with this approach though

I can imagine they might perceive you as quite the downer around the water cooler.

But fuck it. "Modern day" work can easily be seen as a subtle incarnation of disguised slavery. It parallels the labor endured by slaves toiling in fields, with certain notable distinctions. Instead of receiving direct sustenance, we are compensated with money. Our dwelling, while detached from the master's house, is often located a few miles (kilometers for my blokes) away for convenience. Additionally, we are granted two days off each week, creating an illusion of freedom that can captivate our hearts and minds. Gone are the days of physical chains that once bound us to a specific place and to one another. Instead, we now find ourselves in a world where advanced mechanisms of employee surveillance ensure our adherence and punctuality within the confines of the workplace.

We're fucking robots.

I think there's a difference between renting an apartment/house in a retirement complex compared to a proper nursing/retirement home.

It's tough to be a home owner when you can't do the maintenance anymore but you don't have enough cash flow to pay people to come in. You also have to reapply every year for your driving license here once you reach a certain age, so your independence really drops.

If I was in that guy's shoes, I'd take my equity out of the house and just enjoy life. Holidays/"holidays" etc. Just have a small apartment to lay my head in when I'm back in the country.

You said nursing home.

Do you know what a nursing home is?

A nursing home is not a 55 and over community like The Villages.

I'm 36 and I'm starting to freak out about my age. I've never cared about doing young people things like partying looking good and all that. Most of my hobbies are old man hobbies.

But I'm starting to realize your body just starts dying, and it freaks me out. I always imagined aging as a very gradual thing, where it's mostly just slowing down until you hit 70 when everything falls apart.

It's becoming obvious that aging isn't like that at all. It's not a gradual slope, it's a series of events where body parts just stop working/dying etc randomly. When your young body parts get injured and sometimes it never fully heals but most of the time it does. When you get past 40 body parts don't rebound they're just gone for good, and you never know what's next, everything is fair game.

If you've been raised online the part that screws you up most is that your social interactions online don't age. When you post online your age is irrelevant. You talk to 25 year olds the same way you talk to 55 year olds. It's becoming super easy to forget your age. I always thought this was an amazing part of the internet age.

I'm starting to realize we as a society have a timebomb. Millenials are not gonna take turning 50 well. We live like we're freshman and unless you have kids there's nothing that is gonna help you transition. There's not gonna be much aging gracefully, in the past you have peers who are of the same age and that helps you transition, but we don't have that nowadays.

We already see it with Wine Aunts, but I think it's gonna hit very very hard. In the past people had religion and family to help transition into getting old. Millenials are just so spoiled they aren't built for adversity, especially one where there's no way out.

Kill yourself.

Fuckwad.

There’s a scene in Madmen where the doctor tells him that the age can feel like it hits you all at once.

I think there is some truth to that.

I’m 42 and feel excellent now, but in my mid thirties I had some injuries all around the same time.

When we are kids it’s like we drive sports cars for bodies, but as we age we drive Buicks which need to be treated differently.

Don't start freaking out until you're in your late 40's. If you're in good shape physically- as a getbigger I'd assume you are at least 220 lbs of muscle with abs- then it's mostly in your head. 50 is a mindfuck though. It's harder to roll with shit after you've been living in it for half a century.

We're fucking robots.

Funny you should mention this.

The word literally means "servitude" in Czech.
In Russian, "rabota" ( работа ) means "work" , "labor."

Czech writer Karel Čapek coined that term in 1920 for his play "Rossum's Universal Robots."

Interestingly, Čapek's robots were artificial human-like beings made of flesh and blood who could think for themselves, like the replicants in Blade Runner.

One of my pet peeves is women making choices for their men, not "accepting" this or that. Some men are so controlled even their woman is disgusted. Not saying this is you but there are a lot of these men. In this case with HRT, I've seen women on HRT forums researching their husbands HRT drugs. Nothing wrong with wanting to know but if they want to make decisions for their men... no.

Strangely enough, people dont like being reminded they are all capable of mass murder given the right circumstances.

I also dont subscribe to the woke ideology which is rife in the company I work.
Apparently I have to sit down with someone from the Diversity and Inclusion team

That wont go well because I will just tie them in knots with science reason and logic.
They will then just report back that Im a racist bigot (thats the defualt when they have no argument)

I've had an "age crisis" since about your age lol, 46 now. Thinking about age, seeing the age related decline, thinking you are now an "old man all of a sudden." It's been and is hard to accept. I ask friends if aging freaks them out but they seem much better at accepting it lol.

Regarding longevity and testosterone I read this piece the other day. You are not supposed to have high test when older and it ages you even faster. You're NOT supposed to have a sex drive like an 18 year old. If anything you should supplement with estrogen!

https://novoslabs.com/testosterone-replacement-therapy-and-anti-aging/

Guys, if you have the patience to read that I'd like your opinion.

I already know I'm unlikely to let go of the "high" testosterone, in my head it's like the life force itself!

Utter leftist propaganda.

Go look at Vince McMahon at age 57-65 and tell me he would've been better off supplementing with estrogen for Christ's sake.  Hell, at 52, Vince probably had the absolute best times of his life.

Mayday

The real life crisis is imagine how utterly lost you will feel when by 45 you aren’t married, no house and no kids.

I know single people at 45+ unmarried, no property, no kids who seriously think in the next few years they are going to settle down and start a family. They’re also the most unstable people and highest substance abuse by a mile.

I have had young blokes ask me how I got to where I am and I say getting married in my 20s and a kid at 30 is how I got here. Without that change of maturity and responsibility early on, your purpose is basically indulging just yourself.

You can buy a motorbike at 40. You can take a trip to an Italy at 50. You can’t use a Time Machine to go back and be a young family. This will fuck you up mentally more than physical changes.
