Trump Issues Defiant Response to Second Assassination Attempt: 'I Will NEVER Surrender'
Former President Donald Trump has released an official statement following the second failed attempt to assassinate him, declaring his love for his supporters and reassuring them he will “never surrender.”
Secret Service agents thwarted the assassination attempt against the 45th president on Sunday after shots were fired at his Trump International Golf Course near West Palm Beach, Florida.
The former president was playing golf when an armed suspect was spotted approaching his position.
The shooter opened fire first.
The Secret Service returned fire.
The same day, Trump released an official statement on the shooting.
“There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” Trump wrote.
“Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!
“I will always love you for supporting me.”
The suspect shooter, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, was apprehended after fleeing the scene, local ABC affiliate WPLG reported.
Local authorities pulled the suspect over after receiving witness descriptions.
“There was a lone driver in the vehicle. That driver is now in custody,” Snyder said.
The would-be assassin appeared to have exploited a vulnerable part of the property’s perimeter to gain access.
Wesley Routh ran out of the bushes before escaping in a black vehicle.
He was later arrested in Martin County.
Trump later took to social media, thanking those concerned and law enforcement, adding, “It was certainly an interesting day!”
“I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes — It was certainly an interesting day!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE,” Trump continued.
“THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!” Trump concluded in his post.
As The Daily Fetched reported, Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt while delivering his remarks during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
Last month, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) accused the FBI and Secret Service of “slow walking” the investigation, saying, “We’re not getting squat from my standpoint from the Secret Service or FBI.”
The FBI’s decision to cremate would-be Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks’ body before an autopsy could be carried out was described as”jaw-dropping” by many critics.

Phone data indicated suspect had been by golf course for hours before rifle was spotted
Marlene Lenthang
A criminal complaint against Routh reveals more details about yesterday's apparent assassination attempt.
In addition to a witness account, Routh was confirmed to be the suspect using phone records that located him in “the vicinity of the area along the tree line” of the Trump International Golf Club from 1:59 a.m. until 1:31 p.m. on Sunday, the complaint said.
At 1:31 p.m., a Secret Service agent assigned to Trump’s security detail was walking the perimeter of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach when the agent saw what appeared to be a rifle poking out of a tree line.
The agent fired their service weapon in the direction of the rifle and a witness saw a man, later identified as Routh, fleeing the area of the tree line, entering a Nissan sport utility vehicle and leaving at a high rate of speed.
In the area of the tree line where Routh fled, agents found a digital camera, two bags, a loaded SKS-style 7.62x39 caliber rifle with a scope, and a black plastic bag containing food. The serial number on the rifle “was obliterated and unreadable to the naked eye,” the complaint said.
The agent who wrote the complaint said that such rifles are not manufactured in Florida, and it’s likely the rifle had “traveled in interstate or foreign commerce.”
At 2:14 p.m. the Martin County Sheriff’s Office initiated a motor vehicle stop and Routh was detained. Officers said the license plate of the Nissan he was in was registered to a 2012 white Ford truck that has been reported stolen.
The witness who reported seeing Routh fleeing the area of Trump International was taken to the scene and identified Routh as the man seen earlier.
A review of law enforcement records found that on Dec. 20, 2002, Routh was convicted in Greensboro, North Carolina, of possession of a weapon of mass death and destruction, a class F felony. Records also showed that on March 3, 2010, Routh was convicted of multiple counts of possession of stolen goods.

I don't recall two assassination attempts on a presidential candidate. Then again, no candidate has been vilified by a political party and its mainstream media arm like Trump.

Thomas Matthew Crook was registered as a Republican and once voted Republican. Ryan Routh made a social media post backing Trump's reelection in 2020. Recently his posts have expressed support for Biden and Harris. He registered 'unaffiliated' in 2012. Seems like Routh is confused.

Dershowitz to Newsmax: Hitler-Trump Comparisons Encourage Violence
By Solange Reyner | Monday, 16 September 2024
Comments made by Rachel Vindman downplaying the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Sunday are disturbing, but "the more dangerous thing is when you get disturbed people who think they'll be honored and appreciated if they kill Trump," Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax.
Vindman, the wife of Democrat congressional candidate Yevgeny "Eugene" Vindman, on Sunday posted on her X account: "No ears were harmed. Carry on with your Sunday afternoon," referencing the assassination attempt on Trump in July 2024, where a bullet grazed his ear during a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
She has since removed the tweet.
Dershowitz said people like the alleged gunman caught Sunday in Florida think that "there would be some who would honor them.
"Maybe not publicly, but among their friends and otherwise why would this potential assassin have brought a video camera," Dershowitz said on "Newsline"
"He thought he'd be a hero if he were able to successfully prevent Trump from becoming president. And so, you know, I think this attempt to make comparisons between horrible people of the past, like Hitler and Donald Trump, really encourage this kind of violence.
"Jokes are one thing. They just show terrible bad taste. But when you use violent rhetoric, it can really encourage people to engage in violent actions."

You are correct. Cook donated $15 to a left-leaning campaign group in early 2021. Routh also donated to Ukraine, supported Tulsi Gabbard, and since 2019 he donated $140 to a political action committee that supports Democratic candidates. Like I said he is all over the place politically.
Oh no, I have donated monthly to Act Blue for many years. Also, the organization whose board I chair contributes tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic and Republican Oregon legislators and legislative candidates during election cycles.
On the other hand, I pride myself on being non-violent and don't own any type of gun and never have. No worries about me attempting to assassinate anyone.

Remember that clown Bennie Thompson who wanted to remove Secret Service protection from Trump? Interestingly enough he voted in favor of this act.
Congress passes bill to boost presidential candidate security after apparent attempt on Trump's life
The Senate unanimously passed legislation Tuesday to boost Secret Service protection for presidential candidates, sending the bill to the White House for President Joe Biden's signature.
The strong show of bipartisan support came days after the House passed the measure, known as the Enhanced Presidential Security Act, without any opposition in a 405-0 vote.
The bill would give former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris the same level of protection provided to Biden.

There are an increasing number of people who strongly believed everything Trump promised them, who voted for him in 2024. Some of these people are among those who have been recently abruptly, and perhaps unjustly fired. They are understandably angry at him. Plus, some folks see it as a personal betrayal. It would not surprise me to read about additional attempts to assassinate him.

The story you are responding to is from November 2024, two months before Trump took office. No one had been fired.
It does not surprise me that he faces repeated attempts on his life and repeated calls for his murder by leftists, because leftists are disproportionately violent when it comes to politics.

My response was about the increased possibility of this happening due to current events, (firings for example). The date of that story lacks relevance.
Looking back, over the past year’s two assignation attempts against Trump:
At the time of the shooting, Ryan Wesley Routh was not a registered voter because he was a convicted felon. He claims to have supported Trump and later was a Trump critic. Previously, he registered as a Democrat and later was unaffiliated. He also lived in Hawaii, where party affiliation is not required for voter registration. Historically, he supported both Democrats and Republicans. Clearly this man's political leanings are all-over-the-place... and from what I have read he seems to be a wacko.
Twenty-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks was registered as a Republican. As best as I know, to date, no identified motive for the attempted assassination has been revealed. His profile suggests he had some mental issues according to folks who knew him.
Crazy people may lean left or right politically or not have any clear political ideology whatsoever.
There are multiple possibilities for extreme hostility towards a person or persons besides political affiliations. Presently some of the folks losing their civil service jobs supported Trump. These firings are non-discriminatory and include Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and unaffiliated, etc.

The two men who tried to murder Trump were obvious leftists. Just like the man who tried to murder Steve Scalise. And the man who tried to murder Brett Kavanaugh. And the plethora of people who have called or wished for Trump's death, having nothing to do with losing their jobs, all of whom are leftists.
Nobody tried to murder Biden, despite the fact he was the worst president in American history. Conservatives were not all over social media calling or wishing for Biden's murder (like leftists have done with Trump). That "both sides do it" mantra does not work here.

Obvious to you maybe. Not to me. I repeat, Thomas Matthew Crooks was registered as a Republican.
You don't know the reason(s) folks are currently threatening Trump, nor do I. What I said was that folks who lose their jobs are often angry and frustrated about it. Being fired can negatively impact one’s mental health. People are more apt to be and act irrationally when they are mentally and emotionally distraught. It is a fact that both Democrats and Republicans have been terminated or if you prefer folks who lean left and folks who lean right.

You repeat that Crooks was allegedly a registered Republican, but don't repeat that he donated to Democrats.
Use your common sense. This was political violence. It's obvious that Crooks tried to murder Trump due to his politics. And it makes no sense that a Republican or conservative would try and murder the Republican nominee for president.
You are missing the point about the timing and frequency of leftist violence and violent rhetoric. You are trying to tie both to Trump's recent attempts to reduce the size of government. In reality, these murder attempts and calls for murder happened before he even took office, so your contention that this violence is related to people losing their jobs does not make sense.

That Crooks also donated to Democrats does not make him a left-wing nutcase. Most people who plot to kill someone are hugely irrational.
I never attempted to tie these disparate and out-of-sync events together. It is you who is doing this. Government employees had not yet been unjustly fired en masse when those assassination attempts happened.
Simply put, presently, there are thousands of folks who have good reason to be angry at Trump and Musk. Seething anger can trigger people to do crazy things. Being fired can be metaphorically compared to getting divorced.

Why don't you give it a shot Primecunt, would love to see that.

Give what a shot? I abhor violence.

We started this exchange with you responding to a story from November with this comment:
There are an increasing number of people who strongly believed everything Trump promised them, who voted for him in 2024. Some of these people are among those who have been recently abruptly, and perhaps unjustly fired. They are understandably angry at him. Plus, some folks see it as a personal betrayal. It would not surprise me to read about additional attempts to assassinate him.
You claiming people are angry with Trump and may want to assassinate him because they have been unjustly fired fails to account for the fact that two his two assassination attempts and seemingly countless number of people calling or hoping for his murder predate these "unjust" firings. In other words, these "unjust" firings don't have anything to do with people trying to murder him or hoping that someone else murders him.

Once again, you convoluted what I posted. Well, knock yourself out. I don't give a rip because as is often the case conversing with you is a waste of my time. IMO, you are without a doubt the most eristical person I have ever encountered.

So I had to Google "eristical." Never heard that word in my life. You could have just said "argumentative" instead of sending me off to the dictionary. How rude.
One of your problems is you don't even understand some of what you say. One of your other problems is you forget what you have said . . . often in the same thread. But no worries. I am here to help. :)

I am surprised you did not already know the definition of eristical, because it fits you like a glove. ;D

Attorney General James Uthmeier
@AGJamesUthmeier
Today, my office is officially charging Ryan Routh for attempting to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald J. Trump.
Thanks to the leadership of @AGPamBondi and @FBIDirectorKash, we now have a federal government willing to work with the states to pursue justice.
