His President probably is.  Having affairs seem to be ok with him.

What has that got to do with looking silly because some want a member of Congress to resign over an affair but yet, not the President?

The POTUS can't even hold to his own standard when it comes to immigrants and anchor babies.

Then the answer is yes. At the same time, I would expect anyone, including the President, to react and respond to certain antagonists.

Pretty much.  He was married, was dumb enough to send her text messages about much he wanted to hit it, and she later set herself on fire.  Gruesome.  He really needs to resign.

Why did she set herself on fire ?  Because of an affair?
Can't blame him for her own actions.

Is he suspected to be involved or are you just saying morally he should resign?

Yeah, wasn't he banging a staff member's wife?
Based off memory it was his best friends wife.

It was suicide so no I don't think he killed her.  Did his affair contribute to her state of mind?  I say yes.  He's a public figure.  I don't think we need any kind of purity test for people, but there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed, like banging your young married staff member while you are married with six kids, and the staff member then lights herself on fire.  No way should this guy be a U.S. Congressman.

Regarding Newsom, it was his campaign manager's wife.  That's not just best friend, but like a brother.

I have to disagree- Adults have affairs & its for them & their wives to resolve what happens.
As for his political career voters will have their say.

Very sad that she chose to kill herself - wonder if her husband attitude towards her after the affair
May of affected her.

I typically don't care what someone does in their personal life.  One of the exceptions for me involves people who are in positions of public trust.  I'm paying this guy's salary.  I don't want someone like him making decisions that affect my life if he is that reckless in his personal life.  Incredibly poor judgment.

OK- I see your point of view  - only you know as well as I do this isn't a one off occurance
& there's very many in positions of public trust doing exactly the same.
Hell, look what Bill Clinton was up to in the oval office !!

I see it both ways. For the most part, I don't care what these guys do in their personal lives. We all have to set our own standards for what we expect from these politicians.

I draw a distinction between what they do before becoming a public servant versus what they do while in office.  And it depends on what is going on at home.  If a guy is trying to use his family as props and portray a big happy family, but is actually doing hard drugs and taking it up the tailpipe, I don't want him anywhere near public office.  (Andrew Gillum).  But if a guy is married to someone like Katie Porter then I would totally understand.  lol

Bill was and always will be a piece of shit.  The democrats should have tossed him in 98. Because it would have been the right thing to do.  Additonally, Gore probably would have cruised to a victory in 2000 and the Bush global nightmare would never have happened.

Yes - Correct only he wasn't removed from office - so it didn't achieve
much if anything. Just a waste of Time.
