None of us doubt his work ethic.

Hopefully he was doing plenty of quad sweep exercises though and not presses and squats

1-leg ext....4 sets of 20

2-leg press, feet close and low, 4 sets of 30 reps

3-front squats, feet close and very deep, 4 sets of 20....by this point i was not feeling well, but i hung in -

4-single leg, leg press by the company "KING FITNESS" supersets with walking lunges, i thought, this is nothing because we are not using any weights with the lunges...i was dead wrong.
We did 40 reps with single leg press, right into the lunges....I'm in fucking pain as i type this.

5-10 min on the stairmill....then into stretching and flexing the quads...that i have never done before after a leg session.

All in all...KING was all business, and has the look of redemption ...for 9 weeks out, he is lean and tight, and was full of energy....

sounds pretty brutal, King is a hard trainer he just doesn't have very good genetics, why did you guys do so many reps?

This is it, no more heavy training for me. Check the ego at the door folks. I see guys with top physiques using moderate weights, with fast pace/pumping movements...way to build a nice bodybuildng physique. Ive been training like this for a while and I have to admit im seeing great results...Form, feeling each rep, full rang eof motion, etc..

He is doing more reps for the detail and just changing his routine around so that they respond, he stopped his heavy leg training and is training smarter....trying to bring the waist line down.

When I say he is all business...I mean that, and yes we had 5 of us doing legs but there was no BSing and we moved very fast.

The actual weight is not the concern for him, but the point of the training is to shock the legs...I'm still in shock right now....LOL
Just so i make some of you happy....he did 315 on the front squat for 30 reps....LOL

damn that's pretty good weight for that rep range, was it barbell front squats or Smith machine?

I don't really see the point of front squats on smith. Free weight it forces you to stay upright but on a smith staying upright is not really an issue. But whatever...

Well, for me at least, I have no choice but to use the Smith. I currently train alone. Without a spotter, and once you get up to high reps, it makes sense to use the Smith. Back when I used to have a partner at my old hardcore gym, we did free form baby!

Yes yes, I'm not arguing against using the smith, only that front squats don't seem to have a purpose like they do on free bar squats. You can stay perfectly upright with the bar on your back - not uncomfortable as hell like when the bar is resting on your windpipe!
But okay, maybe it "feels" a bit different. Whatever works.

Actually, even on the Smith, the bar rests on my windpipe. That's just the way I do it. No sissy pad or anything.

Smiths are great for when your alone but also because it's easy to push too/past failure and get the most out of every set.

yeah, the biomechanics of both the leg presses and front smith squats are really weird.....maybe he feels that with the smith machine theres less abdominal expansion as compared to a barbell squat?

I disagree, I don't think he can right the wrongs in his genetic structure in only a few short months.

The underlying concept behind most of the criticism of his physique is his structure which he will not be able to overcome.
Title: Re: Just trained LEGS with KING
Post by: jwb on June 21, 2006, 12:38:04 AM
King would benefit from making leg extensions and hacks his main thigh movements.

His main weaknesses are the vastus lateralis and the vastus medius muscles of the quad. He has plenty of upper and inner thigh developemt in fact that is his main problem...he has turnip thighs...

Doing all these movements involving lots of hip extension (presses, lunges etc) aren't what he needs.

Leg Extensions can be a great thigh builder if done right and for plenty of sets. King lacks a rounded thigh from the side which is the vastus medius which can be built up from doing these properly not just for a few warmup sets.

Working hard is one thing, but you need genetics....

http://www.getbig.com/iview/cormier040120.htm (http://www.getbig.com/iview/cormier040120.htm)

Which bodybuilders don't you respect much?

King Kamali, his bark is way bigger than his bite. Hey, he might be last at the Arnold. He doesn't have the genetics. He just needs to shut up and do his thing, do your job. Stop talking so big about yourself. He talks bigger about himself that I do, and I have 61 pro contests of reason too.

Shahriar is trying to address his problems it seems.

But unless he loses some serious weight, he will never look improved.

If he gets down into 225-230 lbs, perhaps he may be able to look improved.

And regarding problems with losing mass: how about lowering the dosages?

His legs are hardly his major weakpoint

I would even say his stomach isn't his biggest problem.

Its his overall arms.  Big arms would balance him lots.

Well since I don't have a training partner, its hard to push like i did last night....i was no way in condition for it, but i sucked it up and hung in....i was all fucked up last night when i got home, it took a while for me to be able to eat and feel sick.
I ate a large bag of white success rice and a can of tuna...then a steak about 10pm last night.
overall i was not intimidated at all...i loved it

Why Vinny... didn't you have a carefully measured serving of dextrose  and whey protein?  Don't you know that coupled with some glutamine and creatine you'd be taking advantage of a crucial "window of opportunity" that would lead to tremedous gains?  Food takes too long to digest but a carefully balanced shake could skyrocket your gains!  I'm starting to think that you skipped over all those brilliant Muscletech ads...

I disagree. Losing weight will only accentuate his genetic flaws. He will NOT improve his thighs and arms if he loses weight. He is fukced no matter what he does. Gain weight = big gut. Lose weight = still a wide, big gut but with smaller arms and quads.
