Title: MuscleTech ads
Post by: Nathan Explosion on September 25, 2006, 04:53:23 PM
Say what you want about MuscleTech's supplements, but I think their ads are the funniest I've ever seen.  Pretty much every ad has a picture of one of their guys with some hot girl hanging off of them, all thanks to Hydroxycut or CellTech.  I think my favorite is an older ad that talks about Anator P70 in which it pretty much says, "Girls love guys with big pipes."  Another favorite: David Henry's Hydroxycut ad, where he's smirking and lifting up his shirt while some chick is giggling and running her hand over his abs... the caption reads, "getting shredded certainly has its benfits onstage and off!"

Also... Jeramy Freeman's incredible Anator P70 transformation!  50 lbs. in 42 days!  Looks like someone just started up on GH and insulin...

I wonder if these guys even read their ad copy... it's ridiculous.  Still, it's entertaining...

this is just as funny!

• His protein intake

JC: “Weighing in at approximately 255 pounds onstage, I eat anywhere from 600 to 700 grams of protein daily. I wouldn't suggest that to just any regular Joe, though. My main sources of protein are fish, NITRO-TECH®, and egg whites

JC: “Since I was able to incorporate HYDROXYCUT® into my program during my preparation, I was able to pull off the best conditioning of my life. By taking HYDROXYCUT before my meals throughout my diet, I was able to maintain my low-calorie diet. HYDROXYCUT was also essential in keeping my energy levels up when I was down and tired. I really think that HYDROXYCUT® helped keep my metabolism up and roaring in preparation for the show.”

The ads are unrealistic.  Dave Henry and Branch Warren attracting hot chicks?  Get real!  And Christina Lindley trumps just about every hot girl I know.  Notice how she is shorter than Dave in the ad?  In reality she is 5'9 and he is much shorter.

haha with those DAMN sunglasses he even wears them in the ads

Like Christina or any one of those blondes would ever give a negroe the time nor day...pleeeeease!

Muscle Tech is an ENEMY of Getbig. We do not endorse them and they get no respect from 'The Watchdogs' and I am pretty sure 'The Squad' feels the same. Muscle tech INSULTS the expierenced bodybuilder...recreation or competitive. The thing is...Muscle Tech is a corporation strictly going for the bottom line profit and they can care less about the real bodybuilder. It's probably because they know the expierenced veteren bodybuilder knows food and real training is what it takes and the supplements they use...are probably plain creatine, protein and vitamins. The expierenced bodybuilder knows how to manage money and knows how to buy supps in the most cost efficient way and knows the very basics is all that is desired.

Muscle Tech has only ONE market in mind...just one, but it is the largest market and most naive. The Newbies. The demographics of 17-24yrs old who are only interested in benchpressing more than their buddy and getting 'chicks' to notice them. I will say this...Muscle Tech has a tried and true cookie cutter way of making profit...they use sex, before/after shots and clever wording and psychology to make ther money. It's cheap, easy but it WORKS. Makes the 160lb newbie run straight to GNC to pick up their tub of Cell Tech in their quest to look like Jay within the next week or two and out benching their buddies.

Muscle Tech is in no way shape or form endorsed by the members of Getbig.coms forums. They get no play here and no respect...we will never endorse that company. I'd endorse Universal ANIMAL over Muscle Tech.

I also like the pictures of the scientists appearing to explain what exactly a supplement does.  The pro always has this bewildered look on his face... "Glycine-keto-iso-huh?"

I'm sorry, but since WHEN do you represent everyone at GetBig? I don't recall getting a ballot to nominate you (or anyone else, for that matter) as a spokeperson for the posters involved here.

First of all, MuscleTech's advertisements are not much different than that of any other company I've seen. Again, I ask where's your outrage at Nutrex for their Lipo-6 ads, which have plenty of "Before/After" pics and a thong-clad girl wrapped around one Markus Ruhl. Or the skinny blonde with no waist, who graces the ads of Rich Gaspari's Novedex XT. Where's the howling about that one?

So, unless your outrage is aimed at ALL the ads in muscle magazines, your takes are little more than tired blubbering that's been heard time and time again.

Has it ever occured to you that the reason plain creatine is so cheap NOW is because of products like CELL-TECH, NO-Xplode, Vault, V-12, etc? Unless your memory is supremely short, you will recall that plain creatine (no dextrose, no ALA, no NOTHING) used to cost in excess of $60. And that's for the small 300-gram bottles.  They certainly weren't shrink-wrapped in two-for-one promo packs, along with a free T-Shirt (i.e. ProLab Creatine Monohydrate).

BTW, when has MuscleTech (or any supplement company, for that matter) denied that a sound diet and hard, intense training are the cornerstone of a great physique? That's a given, even though many of the "ad-reports" mention that on a regular basis.

In conclusion, your self-appointed status as "supplement police" is neither necessary and (in my particular case) not warranted. It's certainly not original.

Chill out, have some NITRO-TECH, and call it a day!!

 ;D

That is likely due to their being more of those ads in the mags than the others. For some reason, MuscleTech's wares have a profound effect on black bodybuilders, as they can't seem to keep white women off them after using the stuff.

The wives of Warren, Cutler, Charles, Badell, etc. might wish to have their hubbies find new employers.

If Glass wants to kill anyone leaving MuscleTech, all he'd have to do is give them the powdered "Glacier Punch" version of GAKIC.

I am immediately suspicious of anything that is fruit punch flavored.  Never had a good experience with that flavor of supplement, regardless of company!

Coincidentally, the only supplement that's ever made me actually throw up was orange Anator P70... urgh.  Had to give my training partner the rest of the tub because it really did not sit right.

BSN could also kill with the fruit punch NO-Xplode... holy crap.

Fruit-Punch CELL-TECH tastes great, as did the now-discontinued Fruit Punch NITRO-TECH RTDs.

The nastiest-tasting swill I'd ever taken was the Orange-Flavored CELL-TECH and a throwback from the 90s: the bars from Lee Haney's Mass Fuel Kit by TwinLab......Until GAKIC arrived!!!

I did the GAKIC pills for a while, I liked them except for the fact that a serving was 8 horse pills.  I like their colored pills though, always matching the bottle caps.

I think one of the funnier things that happened was when I ate a MetRx Big100 bar.  It waited exactly 13 hours, when I was in the midst of chemistry lecture, to announce that it was ready to leave my system.  Boy was that a mad dash...

I'd take the pills myself, if they were the same price. The pills retail for $80; the powder, however, has been marked down. Right now, it's $48, but the one I got was for $40 (I paid $32, as I bought it during Gold Card Week). I can endure the taste of the powder (thanks to a healthy dose of concentrated orange juice). I'd recommend you get the powder BUT MIX IT WELL WITH SOME STRONG ORANGE JUICE or your taste buds are in for some torture.

Hmmm... back when I used PumpTech I tried the powder once, but never got the same effect as the pills for some reason. Maybe GAKIC is different, but either way you slice it, that's a big chunk of change (for a poor college student)

Having never tried the pills, I can't confirm or deny your statement. I've seen some folks rate GAKIC on SupplementJudge.com. One guy claims that the powder works faster than the pills, although he also states how terrible the powder tastes.

I feel your pain. Ten years ago, I was that poor college student. The only supplements I could consistently afford was Mega Mass 2000 and GNC's Challenge Milk-and-Egg Protein powder (buy one; get one 50% off). Ironically enough, MuscleTech supplements started hitting the market during my last year of college and they were pricey then.

Creatine 6000-ES costs $60 back then, nearly as much as CELL-TECH costs now.

I think my favorite things are the big 10-lb dog food bags of ON 100% whey... they can be found pretty cheaply all over the net and even for someone who uses a lot of protein like me, it lasts a while.  Every now and then with some reserve built up I can hit a BSN mass stack, which is quite nice.  I try to always keep creatine around, whether monohydrate, EE, or whatever... I make it work.

I bought a jug of ON's 100% Whey Gold Standard for $26 at GNC. They have some more of them marked down for $30. As of Sunday (Oct. 1), I can get them for $24 with my Gold Card, if they're still there. I will get 1-2 of those, some more GAKIC powder (as nasty as it may be), and I may even try some Anator P70. Per your previous post (and my experience with CELL-TECH), I will steer clear of the orange kind.

CELL-TECH Hardcore just hit the market. It retails for $80. That's good news for me, because the previous version gets marked down. Most were $60, but I found one for $40.

Cell-tech has a nice blend of creatine compounds and the orange doesn't taste half bad - probably all that dextrose.

GNC simply had a big sign with a list of supplements that were "Coming Soon". Among them were naNOX9, CELL-TECH Hardcore, and NITRO-TECH Hardcore. I've just seen CELL-TECH Hardcore today; I've yet to see the upgraded version of Nitro-Tech or naNOX9.

It appears that a lot of supplements are not "hardcore" Xenadrine's new fat-burner just went from "hardcore" to "Super Hardcore". Now, NxCare has developed "Rev Hardcore", an upgrade of a very good product of theirs which I've used, Rev XP.

I stay away from all Muscletech product as much as possible.  If you like artificial Red #40 in your body, that's your perogative.  They use that almost exclusively in their products, I would do more research on the long term affects.

Allura Red AC, also called Allura Red, Food Red 17, C.I. 16035, and FD&C Red 40, is a red azo dye. It is used as a food dye and its E number is E129. Allura Red AC was originally introduced in the United States as a replacement for the use of E123, , as a food colouring.

It has the appearance of a dark red powder. It usually comes as a sodium salt, but can be also be used as both calcium and potassium salts. It is soluble in water. In water solution, its maximum absorbance lies at about 504 nm.

Allura Red AC is Food and Drug Administration approved for use in cosmetics. It is used in some tattoo inks. It is used in many products, eg. orange soda.

Despite the popular misconception, Allura Red AC is not derived from the cochineal insect. The red coloring Carmine is derived from an insect.

Allura Red AC has few health risks associated with it in comparison to other azo dyes. Upon its introduction onto the market, there were fears that Allura Red AC was carcinogenic, studies have since shown that this is not the case, the initial reports of its consumption causing tumors have since been shown to have been caused by the presence of para-cresidine.

Para-cresidine is an important reactant in the manufacture of Allura Red AC and is a known carcinogen, further studies have since been conducted and none of them found any trace of para-cresidine to be present in food-grade Allura Red AC.

Allura Red AC may also cause an adverse reaction in the small minority of people with an aspirin intolerance or allergy, manifesting itself as a skin rash (Urticaria). It has also been implicated in cases of hyperactivity in young children.

I have edited my post to state the source - I took nearly all of it from Wikipedia.  (I wish I could just rattle off facts like that  :) )

Anyway, even though BBing lifestyle can be unheathy at times - I feel there is no reason to add extra artificial colors/Dyes/Preservatives/Nitrates/Phospates into your body if you don't need to.  Who the hell needs to take bright red pills?  High schoolers.  Ever notice that most of Muscletechs products have a zany color when mixed?  I don't eat or buy any supplement for the color.

On a side note, I really like the Natural Whey Protein from Optimum (and I do NOT mean unflavored).  They make a natural protein without artificial colors or sweeteners - for the same price as their regular 5 lb tubs.  For as much Protein that most of us take here, it would be a wise choice to use it here and there...

Ah wikipedia, source of all knowledge for message board posts  :)

I suppose that's a risk with any supplement - we're taking stuff that isn't strictly found in nature and if we are, we're sure as hell taking in a lot more than we usually have.

That said, the vast majority of the population does that too, what with all the fast food and processed food that is eaten so much.  It's pretty much unavoidable to take in unnatural things here and there, but you're right, it's good to keep an eye on that.

If they're charging that much for the cell-tech hardcore, then they're ripping you off. It's actually cheaper that regular celltech. Pump-tech is being phased out, as is T-Tech. Nanox9 comes out just after the olympia, it'll be a GNC exclusive, as will the Shredding stack (Leukic, Hydroxycut hardcore and hydralize, a repackaged Thermoshred).

Muscletech does do it's research. Mostly they fund scientists who are studying sports nutrition or muscle hypertrophy, such as Dr. Wolfe whose research you will see sited alot in MD. They've had a lot of journal publications and have done their homework. I'm siding not one way or another on this, just informing.

Their ads are definitely ridiculous. And they don't seem to get it either. Canadians must have a different sense of humor :P

The ads are unrealistic.  Dave Henry and Branch Warren attracting hot chicks?  Get real!  And Christina Lindley trumps just about every hot girl I know.  Notice how she is shorter than Dave in the ad?  In reality she is 5'9 and he is much shorter.

She was on her knees, and Dave was standing on a plastic Milk Crate........... :-\

Leu-dick?

Gaytech originally created Cockic, which MuscleTech copied and now sells as Gakic.........

I've already seen naNOX9 and Shredded Stack at GNC (as of yesterday). You're right about Hydralize. Most of the ingredients in it can be found in the Hydroshred and NeuroTech components of ThermoShred.

Phasing out Pump-Tech and T-Tech means they'll be marked down, just like the powdered version of Gakic which has been on sale around $40-$48 (even less with the Gold Card).

I would like to know how Hydralize and Hydroxycut Hardcore are stacked together, as I have some ThermoShred left over (I had to stop taking it as it was making me nauseous).
