the problem isnt the bullying, its the culture of victimization...where society is now so overly sensitive, that every bad thing that happens to a person over the course of their youth is justification for them the be fucked up


instead of just being resilient and forgetting about it (like EVERYONE ELSE DID THROUGHOUT HISTORY)  children now learn from a young age to be victims, that they are goi to need psychiatrists, adn that they are going to be emotionally damaged



i experienced awful bullying for a large part of my youth....pretty much as bad as it gets............and you know what happened to me ................NOTHING

you know why???..................cause i was never told that i was supposed to turn into a suicidal and emotional trainwreck due to bullying....i just felt it was a right of passage (that some get worse then others)  that i grew out of


i grew out of it and got cool..........

And no my way is not "The Way", nor do I think my way is the only way. Quite projecting you low self esteem passive-aggresiveness out on everybody. And as I said before, my mom told me the wrong way to handle it...
So, I had to handle a Thug on my own. And found out, he was cool dude, who was testing me. He actually had my  back. The next bully was a 6'3 300 pound football player during my freshman yr in college had to handle that. And then had a incident with my 6'0 Football player/wrestler room mate from Philly. Handled that.
 

Every incident I had, it helped me with my self esteem and helped me grow as a person.
Now, some people are more sensitive than others, and some people have parents that are just idiots. And maybe I was just "lucky" in those incidents, but 2 of those resulted in confrontations. But, in the environment that I was in,
in college, it was sink or swim...or I would have been known as a "bitch" for the next 3 yrs.

Gee thanks for the advice. Would of been useful 10 years ago. But I had an accent so they'd just make fun of me back as they did anyway. You don't get it dude it just wouldn't work because as a kid I wasn't up to the challenge. Don't get me wrong Im no fucking victim, I got thick fucking skin, also am not likely to get imitimated by someone and can take abuse like nobodies bussiness.

However I have been conditioned to believe everyone is inheritently bad, even a 80 year old. I have trust issues, the only way peope will be my friend is if I'm superior to them. This shit is bullshit but it is with me regardless. I'm greatful for my ability to function on my own, thick skin, independance, however I wish I could operate on a trusting issue, as I tend to be hyper hostile.

Whatever dude lets isolate you, and see how well you function. I've learned to function on my own, pretty god dam well. The problem isn't bullying, it's the unfettered access that kids have to technology these days that enables a cruel joke to transform into a life ruining moment. Even 10 years ago, who the fuck ever heard of posting a video of someone on facebook? What's killing these kids has more to do with the embarrassment of having their lives made a laughing stock to everyone on the internet and less to do with bullying. Before everyone had a cell phone, a webcam, a laptop computer, facebook, myspace, etc., embarrassing shit was relegated to a handfull of people at school. Now impressionable kids who are still growing up and don't have the necessary coping skills are being driven from depression to suicide. Theres no easy answers to this problem, but passing laws and hiring lawyers can only make matters worse for everybody and turn an entire generation of children into complete sissy's with inadequate social skills.

I was bullied by older kids when I was in school. When I fought back and showed I wasn't afraid, they left me alone.  When I got older I did my share of picking on the weaker as well. When they showed some heart, I left them alone too. I always thought it was a male thing to be honest with you. Of course there are limits, and attention should be paid by adults when things are getting out of control, but at what point does trying to protect the "children" become protecting them from reality?

I agree with you, but do you remember that 11 yr old girl who was posting vids of herself on youtube and talked about hoe pretty she was and the vulgar language she was using? And then when the "cyber bullies" brought her back down to earth, she and her parents melted down. Many of today's parents are severely lacking in "parenting skills", they wish to be their kids friends, and then when things blow up out of proportion, then they call for everyone's heads.
 There are sensitive kids for every generation, look at Michael Jackson, he was overly sensitive, and yes his father beat them, in fact, Joe Jackson seems to have and does exhibit a bully's demeanor...control
