Is this your normal everyday diet or is it when cutting or maintaining whilst cut?
Any re-feed days at all?

ive been fucking around with the system a lot.

to answer your question, my every day diet doesnt involve counting cals, and has no regimentation whatsoever- carbs proteins fats its all ball/ junk food etc- the only thing i do all year round is train fasted, and fast after a big meal. just by doing this i can stay within 4-5% of my best, but that 5% to me is still sloppy weight bourne of being lazy. there is no need for it, but like the thread says i have a disorder of all or nothing. be lean or walk around slightly chubby (you know how it is when your not shredded your chubby no matter what your bf is), so miantenance isnt possible for me, as much as i wished it could be. i either have to be totally dieting or not. there is no middle ground, which really sucks because i suffer great fluctuations in the way i 'look' imo.

when im ok time to get lean what i found works absolutely best for me is total keto for the days im low cal. typically low cal for me is around 1200-1600 depending on how much pb i ate that day 1600 being very high and not as rule more of an anomaly. i have upped my cals somewhat as i have started doing a bit more cardio than i ever have- started playing basketball again and at least 3-4 times a week im in the gym shooting around. because my knees are fucked atm, i cant play run and gun, just shoot around by myself but even this is enough to get my HR over 130. i find on keto i can have a bit higher cals and not have it impact my energy levels as my cals climb a bit, whereas w cabs in the diet is i was approaching 1600 id get lethargic as hell.

i have been having a carb refeed every 4 days or so. what im finding is that i might not need it at e4d. the day after the fast- so about 36 hours post carbs i start to pull out of the lethargy i experience from eating carbs. im starting to wonder if it is even worth it. i *think* as im no scientist but it stands to reason if i run high energy on fat/pro, and get lethargic on carbs, is my bodies ability to burn fat may also being impeded. tbh im starting to realise maybe im just not meant or built to eat carbs, but they taste so good- i dont think about them when im in the heart of the protein/ fat so WHY i eat them i dont know. prolly cause i like pizza.

I found ( thanks to the no one galeniko method) that fasting either intermittent 16hrs, or more 24+ is the best method for me to burn fat. Also the whole burning muscle thing is a myth I believe. I sure don't notice it anyway. Keto works great for me too but I can't stay on it more than a few weeks.

Same is often true of training, your training style will be determined by your personality. Some people simply can't train with great "intensity". These people can't go short, heavy and very intense, no matter what. Others simply can't train with high volume and "light" weights never hitting failure, it just doesn't match their personality. What their brains tell them would be most beneficial doesn't matter.

Excellent thread.  I'm the same way, all or nothing.  A bite of something sweet and the floodgates open, I can't control myself for the rest of the day.  But 3-4 days on a strict diet and I'm in the zone.... It's always a social obligation that gets me to stray, I seldom get the urge to cheat myself

my personality type is fat

LOL mine too and proud of it. I see no issues; there's more important things in life such as family, stability, faith and peace of mind than "dieting personalities" and having an orange tan all year around while living in shitty Ontario suburbs... lol oh brother the delusion and lack of self esteem.

any of you ever hear of this? no, cause it doesn't exist. I came upon it based on my own experiences and trial and error after years of trying everything under the sun.

ever wonder why your diet fails fails you? Macros are macros and cals are cals. so in essence ANY diet should work. calorie deficit = weight loss.

that being said, if it's not the nuts and bolts of cals in vs cals expended that fails you, then what is it?

YOU fail you. you as in your inability to stay on your diet.

ever wonder why you can't stay on a diet while others can just grind out month after month with no problems and end up shredded? it's because they, accidentally, have discovered a way of dieting that agreed with their personality.

think about it. I know myself I am all or nothing. I can't have x amount of carbs, x amount of protein, x amounts of fat. why? cause I will not adhere to it. why can't I not adhere to it? because if I can eat carbs and stay within my daily cal intake, guess what- a majority of my cals will come from carbs. why? because I'm allowed them. I am not regimented enough to measure foods, prepare meals, and whatnot. I need simplicity and absolutes. therefor ketogenic dieting fits me to a T.

there is no carbs. if there's no carbs I simply don't crave them. my personality doesn't let me crave then because they just simply are not allowed. so what then can I eat? protein and fat. and as a result I always hit my protein goal for your day. always. cause it's the only cals I can eat. that combined w fasting and an extreme cal deficit (ie the Galeniko method) works amazingly for me because there it is hard and all or nothing.

I urge you to take into account your personalities next time you diet. are you highly regimented highly organized? chances are a 30/30/30 or some other kind of macro provisioning diet is right up your alley. you'll stay on it cause it suits your personality.

no diet will or can work if you don't stay on it. if your not having much success dieting maybe look at your personality, then build your diet around that.

cheers.

omfg, yes bro !!!!
you are right on, I was kind of thinking about this the other day after reading something that Matt Porter said about people who have depression issues

he says if his clients are on anti depressant, he never has them cheat because when they cheat it creats such a high in their brain that they can't stop to binge for the life of them and they eat way to much and end up not loosing as much weight

like you said, they are a lot of variables here

for sure bro- funny abt how you mention the correlation between depression and bingeing.

I have noticed in myself carbs (I don't know which ones tho) cause me to become withdrawn, avoiding interpersonal contact, unmotivated and tired. all symptoms of depression.

am I depressed? no. but I now strongly believe my food choices (carbs) cause me to manifest the same symptoms.

I do t know the mechanisms behind this but for me just know that it happens has gone a long way to changing my life for the better. I wonder how many people on medications for depression might benefit from a high protein/ fat diet.

cheers.
