You know what really amazes me the most? Say 50% of managers in charge of big companies do speak English like my 86 yo mom.
Mine is far from perfect but it can be very tricky at times trying to reach them and speak over the phone.
Yet they're dominating most Markets since they're smart, hard workers although not always correct (lots of unfair trading etc etc).

Me and my wife are planning in the next few years to move to that area.
We both have a good job here and a university degree.

The idea of changing place to live is mostly due to the worsening of the situation here in Europe/Italy (you know for sure the reasons): we're looking for a quite and safe place to live.

I would like to have some constructive advice from those who live in these states in order to get a better idea for the final decision.

Of course we're planning holidays there (at least a couple of weeks) and more than once in order to get first-hand impressions.

Nevertheless any insights from people who are actually living there would be precious.

Thanks to all who will contribute.
I wasnt aware things in Italy were so bad. I live in Portugal and fortunately we dont suffer the migrant invasion, because wellfare here was cut in half due to our chronic economical crisis.
If you find a good job oportunity in Portugal, you will be safer here than going to the States, and climate and culturally wise, you wont see big changes. Its very easy to understand portuguese, for italians.
The only catch is that good job opportunities are rare, but there has been some improvement in that area.

Hi Falco, many old fellas relocate from Italy to Portugal because of the 0% taxation on income for the first 10 years, while in Italy you have a 45% plus taxation on it.
As for me since I have hopefully many years ahead to work and as far as I know Portugal's job offer seems to be not so high I didn't take that in consideration for my future plans.
Many friends went there on holiday and all of them told me the place is truly amazing: good food, nice places, very friendly and open people, cheap prices also.

All states with incredibly beautiful scenery.  Great choices!  Hard to beat the great state of Colorado.  It's expensive though.

I think that colorado is more multicultural,  more races,  with whites still being the majority but a decent number of Hispanics and more backs than the other states

another uncle of mine lived in denver for a few years and I went to visit him twice, I also visited a friend who lived in colorado springs, and what i rememeber is that the sky was actually truly blue, and that the rocky mountins appeared as soon as i hit the colorado border coming from the east

I'm from columbus ohio qand there we have more blacks and more crime than all of those states you mentioned
More people will be moving to Colorado due to the medical marijuana. And they are now having problem with panhandlers who are begging for money just to buy marijuana. So there is now a growing "weed head" population. Also, more and more children are being born with marijuana in their systems. So, who knows how this will affect mental health issues in the children in the future.
Utah, is probably the best bet.
