I type way too much!  Anyone who reads my posts should be given an award of commendation of some kind.  Maybe a promotion at work.  ;D

Starting on 01/01/2020, I'm doing the following:

- 0 caffeine [down from three large coffees a month, currently]
- 0 alcohol [down from 7-10 beers a year, currently]
- 0 refined carbohydrates
- Likely 0 non-vegetable carbohydrates
- Exercise every day [3-5 per week with weights + the other days will be cardio days]
- Get in touch with spirituality/God.  I would like to learn as much about The Lord as possible, so if anyone can help me this, please let me know.
- Commit to my children, and don't go a single day without seeing my two youngest children, as this is the time in their lives when they need their parents the most.
- Stop writing massive posts on Getbig that derail threads and make it about me!!

As I said, if anyone can teach me about The Lord, please let me know.

This is the sort of shape that I can be in.  If I could gain 5-lb of muscle, and lose 5-lb of body fat, that would be even better!!  The new lightweight class for CAASA amateur strongman in Canada [the lightest class] is now 175-lb.  So I may as well be around that weight.  They give a 3-lb allowance at the weigh-in.  So walking around 175- to 180-lb would be just about right, for competitive purposes.  I am open to the suggestions or advice of any Getbiggers on this topic, please!!! I am 170-lb here:

Your BMI is way off. I'll bet your fat percentage borders on 22-23%. Quite a disappointment from someone whom I used to sleep with.

Matt, kudos to you. You strike me as a genuine guy, one that I should not have poked light fun at some months ago. I can't understand your goal of eliminating carbs, nonetheless I bid you best wishes for the New Year!  ;D

Take him under your wing Vince. Teach him hypertrophy theory, how to develop a rib crushing grip, how to seduce larger women, etc.... He needs a mentor.

Why not, be lean/ripped !.

Diet is 80% , physical activity 20 %.

Don't eat slow digestable food, like beef !.

Anyone who writes this has no clue at all about life. Just a completely lost individual. Matt isn't a dumbbell, but like resident tin foil hatter Wiggs, he lacks something.

Both end up believing crazy stuff and doing bizarre things.

First off, thank you to all of Getbig for helping me!

Yes, I am obviously not on a good spiritual path, since I have so few answers.

I will say that I read online that someone used Bible paper to roll a joint.  This struck me as extremely sinful and unholy.  So I don't really feel one can realistically call me an atheist.  Or I wouldn't have such a negative reaction to The Word of God being desecrated in that fashion.

Regarding my body fat - the way I look in the video is roughly how I am able to look for "everyday life", given that I have kids, and sometimes [but not always] eat what they eat.  I could get a bit leaner than that - likely quite a bit leaner with some assistance - but it is a trade-off in terms of what I would have to sacrifice to get there.

I am probably around 16% body fat there...maybe a bit higher, but I would say that I am almost certainly under 20% body fat there [an actual 20% body fat - and I find that most people around 20% body fat claim to be 12%, lol].

Thanks, guys.  You have been a big help to me.

213 lbs. on your frame? Well, your were hardly recognizable. Good job heeding whatever wake-up call you had to get back down to a decent weight. No doubt you feel better all around. -Don't know what got you to that point except that you indicated you've had a lot of stress recently. If you intend to be around to know your grandchildren and maybe even your great-grandchildren, don't let yourself get that out-of-shape in the future.

If I live until then, my next great-grandchild is scheduled to arrive in April. Unlike the other two who live in Germany, this little girl will be in the bedroom across the hall from my bedroom, until my grandson and his fiancee are able to afford a place of their own. Oh joy! Hope she's not a colicky baby. :)

Congrats, I think you'll be fine and live to enjoy the family, you'll probably outlive most of us.  ;)

Matt, maybe don't think too much, dont stress too much, its not a race.
Clean up the diet how you want (that is basically zero coffee and alcohol as it is, I used to have that by Noon on each SAT for last 30 years).

The spiritual stuff, also take your time, read, meditate, make your own decisions.

I consider myself "agnostic", as Im not very smart I guess when it comes to how and why we are all here.
Not as smart as sky-wizard cult members who seem to know it all. ::)
