I witnessed the British Bulldog bench 495 for 12 reps without a lift off or spot.  That was at the Gold's gym in FL. Strong ass dude

An actual chest workout with the Warlord’s Powers of Pain partner, the Barbarian with our very own Lee Haney!

That’s awesome strength. World class.

For a time, that dude was juiced to the gills and massive.

Davey was widely considered one of the strongest guys in the business in his prime.

This was around 1990.  He was so red walking around it looked like he was going to explode.  He did die early.

early 90s was an amazing time in calgary.   there
were at least ten guys that could rep out 5 plates a side on
the bench.

i wasn't one of them.

Yes. When he returned to WWF with the dreadlocks. LOL
He looked much better AND healthier a few years later when he leaned out and teamed with Owen.

What impressed me was that, even at his heaviest, Bulldog was still doing the handsprings, etc. Very athletic performer.

Yep.
Stampede was generally a big man's territory.

Haz, somebody on here (maybe it was even you) once told a story of a very young Chris Benoit bringing & selling D-bol to high school football players during their practice. IIRC, you owned a gym around that time and were part of the scene. Any interesting stories about those guys?

hey man,   i have also heard that story, wasn't sure it was Chris, he grew up in edmonton and came to calgary in 87 when he was 19
to join stampede wrestling. i worked out with him in the late 80s.

Wasn't Davey Boy only one who could break out from Warlords finishing hold?
First one at least?

Watch the Billy Jack Haynes piece sometime.
I posted a youtube link not long ago - should be somewhere on the first page of the Wrestling board. They discuss the murder of two teens who stumbled upon a crime scene along some railroad tracks.

Very sad.

A couple of guys were given the green light to slam Andre years earlier. I think Stan Hansen may have been one of them.

Hogan even slammed him years before the notorious WMIII match, but Andre was at his heaviest for the latter.
Hulk legit tore a lat in the process - even with Andre "helping."

Wrestling back then lived for the now ,announcers promoted matches like it was 1st time theses guys wrestled/feuded,these guys wrestled many times in different territories they were'rentted'properties..even there gimmicks were either tweaked or totally changed depending on where they were.mcmahon trademarked them by the 80's under his rules.

Yeah, it was fun - like an interactive show.

No, it wasn't "real," but neither is NCIS. You just watched and enjoyed the scripted action, interviews, story lines, etc.

Guy was a beastly presser.

He was shot well over a dozen times while allegedly watching hockey. Bunch of times in the face/head and body.

Probably didn’t even know it was coming.

Tony Atlas slammed Andre regularly long before Hogan.  A legit slam, not a scoop and Andre lays down after reaching knee height like Hogan did.

They said it the bullets were from the front, into his chest and face....  said he knew he was going to be hit and told some people prior that he was in fear of his life.
