Trying to fitting capital punishment into a religion where the leader (Jesus) preaches that "He who is without sin shall cast the first stone" (I recommend everyone to read that passage in the Bible)?
A religion that preaches to turn the other cheek, and to give away the cloak to those who tries to take your belongings?
A religion that preaches forgiveness, the very essence of how we ends up in heaven, we are forgiven our sins, because Jesus gave his life for us?
To promote capital punishment is not the Christian way, although you will still go to heaven, as long as you believe in the Lord.

Okay Zack. I see you are trying to play Devil's Advocate. I do that a lot.
Casting the first stone has to do with being a hypocrite, not punishing someone for wrongdoing.
You are not required to give your stuff to thieves, and "turning the other check" is clearly a metaphor. Nothing anti-Christian about self-defense.
Forgiveness and punishment are not inconsistent at all. Part of what the Bible teaches is actions have consequences. What you're advocating is anarchy. If you follow your line of thinking, the government should not put anyone in prison, there should be no fines, community service, loss of freedom, etc.
