Macs never had viruses as the userbase was so small the virus writers couldnt be bothered to make them for it (something like 5% of OS's worldwide are MacOS, now the userbase of macs is growing we are seeing viruses for Macs. Also if you have a pc, run more than 1 antivirus, I run 3-4 AV and Malware scanners, takes up alsmost zero resources and catches everything.

I got both at work - I hate the Mac.

As a physical product, Mac is high quality. The material etc.

What people are missing is that Mac is mostly marketing. If I install Mac OS on an Intel based PC, is it a Mac or a PC?  Mac users overpay to be a part of a 'cult'. After Mac embraced Intel architecture, the whole comparison become more or less irrelevant.

If I was to buy a computer for an intelligent person who wants to get as much done as possible, I'd buy a PC. If I was to buy a computer for someone who's seriously technically challenged, I'd buy a Mac.

protecting a pc requires constant vigilance. even then, sometimes it still gets fucked up. with a mac, you dont have to do shit, just turn it on and it just works problem free. maybe you dont mind buying and installing a bunch of crap and always making sure its up to date and working properly just to be pretty sure your comp isnt getting fucked...thats ok. but im not a computer person and i like the fact that i can just push the 'on' button and it always works problem free with nothing else to worry about.

Bullshit. All you need is 1 good antivirus software, and two digit IQ. Then you are safe. If you don't have either, fuck you.

Hhahhahaha at this thread. I was a long time PC user ...probably had 4 different laptops in the past 6 years. They all start slowing down and get "buggy" after a while. It's b.s.
Sure, you can run anti virus software...etc and do maintenance but why the fuck should I have to?

I switched to a MB Air few months ago and not a single issue. I still like PC but this thing is badass.
I know a few people with older MB Pros and none of them have complaints versus guys who have older dell/hp laptops that are buggy and slow as fuck.

BTW ...all apple store employees are fags!

That kind of genius? Why to run antivirus software? Well, if you don't, your computer start slowing down and get buggy. And you don't run AVSW. It runs by itself, you just install it and it works from there to the future all by itself. You just pay the license fee every three years.

bingo, anti virus companies have scared everyone into thinking we all need anti virus software.  I have never had a virus in 3 - 4 years and when I did it was downloading questionable material that I knew might have a virus.  IMO if you get a virus on PC your an idiot.

Well, you are liar, nothing more, or you have used system in a place, which have strong corporate firewall with antivirus software. This kind of lie comes from complete stupidity, because it indicates that you don't know shit about the Internet and techniques in it. If you take the unprotected computer, and put it online through ADSL which hasn't firewall on, there isn't no way in hell how it would not be infected in matter of minutes. Microsoft has bunch of these kind of machines for fishing viruses, and they went from zero viruses to the point where they send hundreds of millions of spam-mails per machine in 24 hour. And you are in just same Internet, so if you don't have protection, you are fucked no matter what you lie. Do you understand? There is only one internet and we all are in it, so if I want, I can scan your IP- address and log in to your machine. Then I can do what ever I want with it, read and send your mails, look your porn and send it to your mother.  ;D

dude you have played into the antivirus and tech guru people fear mongering.  Virus really aren't that prevalent anymore.  If you keep windows 7 up to date easy just have it auto check, and keep flash player up to date, you have nothing to worry about.  Add a router for multiple computers and physical firewall and your set.  No need for anti virus software unless your stupid.  Go scare someone else lol.
