if you are a tech guy/computer nerd then you can get away with having a pc, if you are not then a mac is the way to go.

If you must use the Maxc OS (Snow Leopard) buy a cheap laptop or netbook like a lenovo and get the local geek to put hackintosh on it so you can dual boot win 7 and snow leopard.

how about a pc with linux system?

I am sorry but you have no clue what you are talking about.

Like I said before-buy rent or borrow a macbook pro and use it daily for a week. Spend time getting used to the OS and also the trackpad and keyboard. TRUST ME you will CRINGE at the thought of using anything less (which really is everything).

Before I bought this I had some cheap Toshiba satellite which broke on me, then I bought a nice 750$ Samsung Mac knock off, had an I5 and what have you, and it was cool, it was nice. Having used them I can honestly say the extra dough was WELL worth it. In fact, I would rather use a public computer for free than buy another pc. If I lost my Mac and could not afford another one I still would not spend one single penny on a pc of any kind.

I am done in this thread, you are all free to make your own decisions.

You're a fag

hope this helps

ive had multiple comps which have all succumbed to viruses and spyware to the point where they were no longer usable.

i then bought a mac mini for $500..it is as fast as anything ive used, the thing is the size of a couple cd cases, and it has never had any problems whatsoever.

i recommend buying a mac...they absolutely shit on other computers for practical everyday purposes.

That tells a lot about you and how smart you are. You see, there is always a way to protect your system from viruses and shit like that, but if you are complete fucking idiot, you don't use it. You buy a PC, run it without any protection and when it doesn't work anymore because of viruses, YOU BUY A NEW ONE?

Does name "F-secure" ring any bell's in your empty head? McAffee? Eset System security? Norton? There is plenty of  antivirus software's which has only one purpose, and it is to keep viruses and spy ware out from your computer. I use Eset, and it is as close to bulletproof as you can get. You can get more safety only by cutting your LAN cable in one inch pieces. You can get one by paying 40$, so it is lot cheaper than buy a new computer ;D

Well, I start with computers as a new hobby in 1987, so I can say I know thing or two about them. I have used several generation of MAC's, MAC books, I Phones and I still prefer PC because it has more value in it.

Well, no. My son was 8 when he build his first computer, my daughter was 11. You don't need any special skills, just brains and screwdriver, and some vision how to choose right components. And with the OS, you install antivirus software, and you are safe. It is so simple, but hey: if this really is too much for your capacity, try to catch some monkey to do it for you  ;D

which free anti-virus software do you recommend? I'm currently running avast, avg free and windows defender, do you think that would be ok?

thats why is said "IF YOU ARE A TECHIE/COMPUTER PERSON' you can get away with having a pc. congrats on having your 8 yd old be able to construct and run a flawless pc system...but thats exactly my point, for everyone else, a mac is the better choice. you dont have to do shit..the mac right out of the box will work for you and you dont ever have to install 'anitvirus'crap or DO ANYTHING AT ALL...it just works.

You're an idiot.  Seriously, is it that difficult to install a decent anti virus?  If you can't do that with a computer how do you function in life?  That's an honest question.  If you can't install an antivirus program how do you remember to breath?

protecting a pc requires constant vigilance. even then, sometimes it still gets fucked up. with a mac, you dont have to do shit, just turn it on and it just works problem free. maybe you dont mind buying and installing a bunch of crap and always making sure its up to date and working properly just to be pretty sure your comp isnt getting fucked...thats ok. but im not a computer person and i like the fact that i can just push the 'on' button and it always works problem free with nothing else to worry about.

Lulz.  I've had my current pc for two years and never had a virus.  What kind of questionable content are you viewing that's exposing you to viruses?

nothing really...everyone i know whos had a pc, from older family members who never look at ANYTHING online, to friends, have ALL had comps corrupted and destroyed by viruses and spyware. it simply requires constant up-to-date vigilance and computer know-how to prevent this...thats why i say for people who are not 'computer people' to just save themselves problems and get a mac.

I've NEVER had a virus.  I have the Laura Lynn brand virus protection.

what the hell kinda scat porn must people look at to get viruses?  PS those "hot local singles" are not real and "gaining 3 inches in 3 months" won't ever happen.  so don't even click because your life will never be perfect even if "I now have a 10 in dick thanks to ron jeremys pill".

Hhahhahaha at this thread. I was a long time PC user ...probably had 4 different laptops in the past 6 years. They all start slowing down and get "buggy" after a while. It's b.s.
Sure, you can run anti virus software...etc and do maintenance but why the fuck should I have to?

I switched to a MB Air few months ago and not a single issue. I still like PC but this thing is badass.
I know a few people with older MB Pros and none of them have complaints versus guys who have older dell/hp laptops that are buggy and slow as fuck.

BTW ...all apple store employees are fags!

i'm on a mattress on the floor on a 2006 Dell 1501, and it's going strong. my girl is using the my 2009 Studio.

Both have Ad-ware and Chrome, have had no problems with viruses.

I'll be damn if I pay Apple $2000 for a 17' laptop.

Only sane person in this thread. Get a regular laptop from any decent manufacturer, pop a Linux Mint cd in it, click Install. Fuck Apple and Microsoft, they're both shit.

bingo, anti virus companies have scared everyone into thinking we all need anti virus software.  I have never had a virus in 3 - 4 years and when I did it was downloading questionable material that I knew might have a virus.  IMO if you get a virus on PC your an idiot.

When you purchase a Mac you get Apple Store service which means that there is always someone there who will walk you through any computer problem you may have and spend as much time as you need to learn what you've been doing wrong.

I have both and whenever I have a PC problem, I have a hard time finding anyone who can tell me what the hell I've been doing wrong.

ANd Mac offers free classes throughout the day teaching you how to do things right even when it's pretty damn easy to do as soon as you open the box and turn it on.

I neveer had a 'germ' or whatever the hell it's called and when my electrical cord got damaged after the dog chewed it, I took it back to the Apple Store and they simply asked, "How's your dog!?" and handed me a brand new cord in its original container free of charge.

And ditto when my 6 year old battery unexpectantly passed away. (The dog didn't dood i!) All free and they even installed it and cleaned all the cat and dog hair from the interior.

No store of any type offers the service that an Apple store provides. If there is one, I'll gladly buy whatever it is that they are selling.

well they already made 500$ or more profit off you buying their product they overcharge for so they can afford a 10 dollar battery or a 2 dollar power cord.

Probably true,Rep, but I did have to have my PC serviced a few times and in each case the fee was way over $100 and I never even got a free pencil from those damn guys.

Owning an Apple is like owning insurance in an earthquake when the big one hits.

Now that I've had both, I'll never buy another PC.
