Would Phil last night have beaten this ??? The Mr.Olympia winner from 15 years ago.....

SUCKMYMUSCLE

They would have given Dorian one obligatory call out and called it a day, giving him straight firsts.  Heath is good, and hats off to him, but Dorian in that shape would crush him.  Heath would be a very distant second.

Phil has a far better physique than Dorian. Phil has no weaknesses and has good lines and fullness. Dorian has great condition, no arms and no lines.

"Princess L", stop changing the title of every thread...this is ridiculous. Every thread I start in the Gossip&opinion boards you change the title or add something to it even though the titles don't have any expletives and don't break the board's rules in any way. You do this to everyone's threads.

I haven't touched any of yours or anyone else's threads.  Get over yourself.  I have better things to do than to follow your threads around. ::)

Bodybuilding limits were reached in the '90's.  The goal today should be to draw in the genetic elite, that's the only way to repeat a Coleman or Yates or something we've never seen before.  Phil has an athletic look, so maybe he will appeal to kids who hadn't thought about bodybuilding before.

Bodybuilding is all about illusion. You reckon you competed?
Phil Vs Dorian is a pointless argument as they are a generation apart but for what its worth Dorian would have been top 5 at the weekend if transported in at his best.
Get over yourself, anyone with half a bodybuilding brain can see Heath is a great bodybuilder and worthy winner.
If you have any other questions, please just ask.

They can't comprehend and separate what will win vs what they think SHOULD win

Here you go , fantastic structure , outstanding genetics , aesthetic classical physique with unmatched lines

and NEVER won a single pro show !

people were bitching Bob Paris should beat Lee Haney because he's more of the ideal physique , same with Labrada , same with Shawn Ray with Dorian , same with Flex Wheeler with Ronnie , same with Serge Nubret and Arnold , etc

pretty physiques DO NOT win contests , aesthetic haven't mattered since Steve Reeves

dorian looks like garbage compared to heath.

From an aesthetics standpoint? you'll get NO argument but from an IFBB judging criteria standpoint , Dorian beats Heath easily

aesthetics mean shit in contests , what you think should win doesn't matter

that dorian would be too much maybe even to a prime Ronnie. BUT, Dorian never looked like this in a Olympia stage, always much more flatter.

Yes, to complement ND's posts - and we are pretty much the only two guys in this board who truly understand bodybuilding judging on a deep level - this is what matters when it comes to deciding who wins bodybuilding contests:

  - The development of the muscles.

  - The proportionality between them.

  - The proportionality of the skeletal frame

  - The quality of the muscles - conditioning, or how much detail(vascularity, separations and striations) the muscles are showing,

These four criterias are acessed in the seven mandatories of the muscularity round and the three angles of the symmetry round at once.

The only exception to this is the posing round, when all the criteria is accessed but also an artistic element that depends on the talent of the bodybuilder.

Who wins depends on these four criterias acessed all at once in the two rounds. Aesthetics, or the shape of the muscles, are simply not a part of the criteria
