This is one of my favorite rifles. Old school assault 30-30. Roughly the same power as the AK 47 round. Worked back in the cowboy days and it works now.

Indeed, the .30-30 outperformed the 7.62x39 on the energy tables...

Those old school rounds can be quite devastating. My primary field gun for hunting in bush is a Marlin 1895 GS in .45-70, a round that is almost 200 years old. I loaded my rounds to .450 Marlin SAAMI specs, firing a 550 gr. cast bullet at 1600 FPS. It has enough mass and energy to traverse a hippo lengthwise. It can be hell on feral pigs too.
