Should someone who can't afford to tip even go to a restaurant?
Only if there's enough room on the EBT card.

But you shouldn't tip if the service is crappy.

You shouldn't tolerate crappy service.

I also meant ability to afford it spiritually.

Someone who leaves a prayer, crap from their church, or random blessing in lieu of cash, and sincerely thinks it will benefit their server should be beaten to death.

Listen, your suggestion to get another waiter/waitress is stupid and unrealistic.

When you go to a local chain restaurant, this is not feasible. If I am having crappy service, I usually give the waiter/waitress 1 or 2 chances to do a better job. Anyone can have an "off" day, so I am patient in the beginning, in hopes that their performance may improve. By the time this actually happens (or doesn't), your pretty much done with your meal. At this point, it would be dumb to request a new server.

On the other hand, if you feel like your server is bad from the get-go, then you can request a new one. But that would be kind of impatient, as it would not allow the server to perhaps improve their performance (maybe their just a little buy at that moment). So, you either get rid of the waiter/waitress right away, or you give them a few chances to improve. But by the time that happens, youre pretty much half-way or done with your meal, and it would be dumb to request a new server.

Have been seeing these things more and more frequently.

Has a neat tipping feature when paying.
