and its hard to knock the champion off the block

Ronnie acknowledges the obvious politics of Yates reign right there...

He is admitting that the judges were very reluctant to knock Yates off, even if he was in off shape and injured and deserved to lose against superior compeition (94 and 97)

Whats funny is Ronnie had no problem telling Jay he would need to be reborn with better genetics to think he could ever beat him and he was on crack for think he could , so I think Ronnie was being honest he apparently has no problem telling people the truth.

Talk about wishfull thinking ! He knew Yates was clearly superior to him and he could never match his level on size & conditioning .

no way is that pic from 1982. Haney looked way younger than that back then, here is a shot probably from his first win, in 1984:

This is the only shot that matters from 97



Clearly the best backside in the show that year, which is why he won. In this years olympia Ronnie lost becuase Cutler beat him from the back, simple as that.
