Muscle inbalances
« on: October 27, 2006, 01:22:52 PM »
what in your opinion is the best way to sort little inbalances, granted some if not all people have an inbalance somewere????
I try to make sure i focus and squeeze the muscle at point of contraction equally with both right and left side, so dont know why i have these small inbalances!!

it seems though both sides of my body are equal strength wise, my left side is bigger in quad tear drop, left pek and left lat??

I was thinking of doing right side only pec dec?? Right side only leg raises and right side only cable rows. This will eman i still do all compound lift with both sides but when i do my only isolation move for those body parts i only do the right side??

Muscle imbalances are perfectly normal in a person's body.I myself have 1 arm which is I think 1/4" (or less?going from my 1980's memory here lol).Unless there is a gross miscrepancy in the numbers such as 1 quad 6" bigger than the other I wouldn't worry about it.If you do worry too much you may want to give unilateral training a try to see if it evens out the muscle part concerned.Don't just work out the side that you feel is under par.Unused muscle may just simply lose size leading you to believe you achieved what you wanted. Not an expert regarding this but simply my own opinion.Good luck.

Agreed, don't worry about it in most cases as it's normal and not a huge difference. To balance things more you can always substitute DB or pulley for BB-DB press, military DB press, DB curls, DB extensions, etc.

Dont sweat it davie.. I bet no one but you would even notice any difference from one side compared to the other.

I hear what you guys are saying and i guess i know your all right.

Your probs right, tho its kinda bothered me. I always do my main movement for say chest (Db bench) in normal Db in each hand style, but had considered my secondary isolation movement incline fly or pec dek, to be unilateral, OR 2 sets for left side whilst id do 3 sets for right (slightly smaller) side??

Its funny i tried unilateral leg pressing and my right leg (side which i think had smaller tear drop) is actually stronger than the left side which i believe is bigger, weird eh?!
