Levers are no. 1 for rowing IMO.
However, there are other decent alternatives using free weights. T-bars, 1-arm rows, properly designed cable row machines..
Lying row is an excersise that unfortunately isn't used much. A perfect excersise to include in your training or as an alternative for the traditional BOR.
A decent T-bar is also a rare phenomenon.
It might be an idea to have two subscriptions on different gyms to take full advantage of certain equipment if not everything is available at the nearest gym.
