Super nice guy. Definately big. Just not nearly as strong as all the Muscletech Ad claims. He doesn't do free weights. His big lifts are all done on smith machines and with no more then 4 plates per side for chest and 2 plates and a quarter per side for front presses for shoulders. Very low intesity. Henderson Thorn hit the nail on the had when he said that you only get out of it what you put into it.

That's somewhat surprising.

I don't understand why a man that size would give up compound free weight movements for machines.

If it's a matter of dropping down in weight to accomodate for form, that's one thing, but pushing heavier weight on a machine isn't going to build the same type of connective tissue strength that free weights will.

I'm surprised he doesn't do any compound lifts.....

I hear ya. It litterally blew me away when I caught a glimpse of him training while resting in between my sets. He does mostly machines & hammer strenghts. Nothing special in terms of weight. Maybe he hurt himself and his joints just can't do it anymore. Who knows. It was rumoured that back in 1997 he was taking 10,000mgs of test....yes you heard that correctly. And that was just the test alone.

I'm not sure I believe those rumors, bro.

10G of Test per week?

I can't even imagine the types of sides he was experiencing from that.

His cardiovascular health can't be good.

Three heart attacks at his age definitely points to cardiovascular disease.

Still.....10G of Test per week for an extended period of time + No cardio = a heart attack waiting to happen.

I wonder if he thinks it was still worth it?   :-\

I've read all the talk about "Palumboism" etc., but I still can't figure how his body simply "collapsed", looking at the more recent pics?

At the 2005 Toronto Pro (pics Bay posted), exactly what you said was done and he came in looking just as bad, just a different kind of bad.  Chad did all he could and did just fine.  As I said, the problem is in Greg's genetics, nothing else.

When Greg came to Thunder Bay he openly took insulin before eating a huge meal with the owner of the supplement store he did a guest appearance at.  Juiced to the gills.  10 grams a week?  lol, probably during his low dose periods, sure.  And yes, I'm aware of the sides of such a high dose of test and yes, I'm pretty confident he did more.

Matthew,

You make Greg out to be a Steroid Slut......a junky of sorts.   :o

I have no idea why he'd take 10G ew considering the real possibility that his body might not have even been able to metabolize it all.

Give me a rough estimate of how much Test you really think he did during a ramp up phase.

DIVISION - I would say two grams per day in addition to other ergogenic aids and 15,000 calories a day.  I say this because I saw someone on a message board who took 10 grams a week once.  Clearly it's been done and if anyone would do it, it would be Greg.  Also, he was so open about insulin use that he blatantly did it in public.  It's obvious he is constantly on gear, and I don't mean year round (I'm sure he does that too), but constantly juicing up throughout the day.  He probably pops dbols like Tic Tacs.

How long do you think Greg will live?

Matthew,

So 14G Test per week, give or take 5G or so?

Plus, the amount of other AAS/GH/IGF-1/Insulin.....

Jesus........  :-X

At this point, his body seems to be regressing back to the form of a Neanderthal.

More animal than man....

At this rate he'll be dead within fifteen years.

DIVISION - his birthday is in December and he will be 38.  53 is not a bad lifespan at all, everything considered!  And seeing that he has been mainlining gear for years now, maybe his body can handle so much?  Perhaps the law of diminishing returns would only apply to normal trainers with less experience with hormones?  By the way, if I injected 15 grams right now, what would happen?

Narcotics can be administered in a variety of ways. Some are taken orally, transdermally (skin patches) or injected. They are also available in suppositories. As recreational drugs, they are often smoked, snorted, or self-administered by the more direct routes of subcutaneous ("skin popping") and intravenous ("mainlining") injection.

  Kovacs lifts:

 - 30o incline barbell press, 525 lbs for 8 reps.

 - Flat dumbbell press, 300 lbs dumbells for 6 reps.

 - Front military press, 440 lbs for 12 reps.

 - Lateral raise, 100 lbs dumbells for 10 reps.

 - Deadlift, 810 lbs for 3 reps.

 - T-bar row, 308 lbs for 10 reps.

 - One arm dumbbell row, 300 lbs dumbbells for 6 reps.

 - Barbell squat, 880 lbs for 2 reps

 - Leg press, 2700 lbs for 12 reps.

No bodybuilder even comes close to Kovacs overrall strengh. Coleman can match him in the squat and deadlift, but that's about it.

As for Ed Coan's challenge...who cares? He's a specialist who trains 24/7 for two lifts: the deadlift and squat. That's it. It's not fair to pit Kovacs against a guy who only does two lifts and then say that Coan is stronger. Could Coan win the "World's Strongest Man" contest? No. Kovacs is the only Human Being who's strengh would allow him to compete with a silverback gorilla. Of course, a silverback is much stronger than Kovacs, but at least the man wouldn't be humiliated like all other Human Beings would.

If the numbers are true, awesome strength.

SUCKY's impressed because Kovacs resembles his hero:
