Serious Injurys whos had them.
« on: December 15, 2006, 05:43:03 PM »
Training 6 weeks ago i did the unforgivable, Military pressing 2 plates a side which is not to heavy for me clean, i tore my rotator cuff seriously.I am fucking pissed no medical insurance ive had tears before but nothing quite as serious as this.I cannot lift my arm above my shoulder with out seroius pain.
I have dropped40 pounds since the accident, Why eat when it will turn to fat.
Should i get medical insurance without disclosing the injury anyway does anyone no the cost of the surgery for a rotator cuff injury by a first class Doctor and how long does rehab take.
Im up a fucking creek without a fucking paddle. >:(

GET INSURANCE NOW!

I tore rotator, no bench for a year...  You could be different but why take a chance.

I had back surgery L4-L5.  No heavy squats no rows, not even jogging on the road.
Hernia surgery, cramps in my abs.  No more than 1 set.

Forget if anyone minimalizes it here.  Over protect, and heal

i tore my mcl and it took 2 months to walk right again, forget about heavy training durin that time.  didnt require surgery though because the acl was intact.  for a rotator cuff it's pretty likely you need surgery, so i'd get on that right away
its comin today

I tore a left testicule pile driving this stripper in the back of my car about 10 yrs ago!  I was on a heavy "pro-hormone" stack ::) and when I went to the doc he said "...damn son where are your nuts?...I can't even find them to know if you tore one!!!"  A quick HCG program and many percs later I was a o.k.  Hope this helps!!! ;D

Yeah, I think I'm going to go down in weight on military press.  That exercise ruins shoulders.  Flat barbell bench is another.  Good luck.

I tore the distal biceps tendon in my left are 2 years ago and was out of work for 6 months.  I did legs twice a week and really brought them up, as my upper body was ahead of my legs.  The arm healed up, and my symmetry actual improved because of it.

1) A dislocated shoulder at birth due to getting stuck in the birth canal; I was 11lbs

2) A broken nose from standing behind a metal swing with a child on it when I was 5 years old.

3) A torn left quadriceps tendon from falling while barbell lunging

4) A torn achilles tendon from calf raises, weakened from heavy stationary lunges

I dislocated my shoulder last year, and it kept me from upper body training for about 3-4 months.  Lost 20 pounds because I was eating like shit the whole time.

Last year I had a complete rupture of my right achilles tendon.  Made a hell of a noise when it went too.

Ripped my pec benching.   Had surgery last year.   Still isn't the same.   Luckily, I have been able to keep a lot of my size.   Just found different ways of working around it.

I  had the exact same injury about 4 years ago. Sounded like a gun shot when it snapped. I wouldn't wish this injury on anyone. Did you recover ok? My right leg still doesn't have the power it had before the injury.

From 20 years of lifting I've worn the cartilage out in both my shoulders.  Bone on bone.  The only thing I can do, and I've been to 3 sports orthopedics, is a double shoulder replacement.  Check it out, it is the end.  I live on pain killers and can do many lifts, but someday the pain will rule and I will get the operations and hang up my lifting  belt:'(

I'm still trying to get past a pretty bad shoulder injury.  :(  I too am thinking of hanging up the seated military presses and just going with raises from here on out. :-\

Full thickness rotator cuff tear with surgery on left shoulder 3 years ago.  Partial tear of rotator cuff right shoulder last year, rehabbed myself (I do PT work)

Full thickness tear of the left rotator cuff 3 years ago, had surgery, 100% better.  Partial tear of right rotator cuff last year, rehabbed myself (I do PT work)  You must do int. & ext. rotation work for stabilizer muscles and keep stretching.  Layoff all pressing movements for some time.  Try to work "around" the injury if you can, I used mostly dumbbells and machines, kept my reps a little higher than normal (15-20)  Do a lot of rear delt and scapula work...And remember soreness is good, blood and oxygen getting to the muscles for rehab, pain is bad, anything with pain stop it!

Im only 24 and Ive already had my first shoulder replacement back in April.  I had pain in my shoulder for about 4 years but trained through it (Im a fuckin idiot).  It got to the point that I couldnt do any barbell, then andy dumbell and finally I couldnt even do Hammer strength towards the end.  I had a few injections, but I finally had the operation.  My shoulder strength is 100% and Im close to 100% on chest exercises.  WORD TO THE WISE...Get your body looked at by a doc if it hurts.

I also had my knee scoped in January of this year (to remove scar tissue from an ACL).  I also had foot surgery in July of this year.  Ive been busy with operations, but Im hoping Im done for awhile.

Just listen to your body guys
