i only use a spotter for my heaviest set.

I only use a spotter when it is completely necessary...I have found out that when ya constantly have spotters around ya it gets annoying, but that is just me...I have trained with some guys that nationally compete in powerlifting and they have to have their own posse with them the whole time they are lifting...I never understood that...

Only when I go "Heavy" I am very careful when asking some one for a spot. I had a near mishap because the pwerson decide to check out a woman as she entered the gym
