Chick,
Does your “thinning herd” argument reference a diluted talent pool, diluted company sponsorships, or both?

I respectfully disagree...I don't think much would change at all.

There simply arent enough sponsors out there to support 4-5 pro organizations...there also arent enough good pro's out there to substanciate more than one pro org.

All it would complish is "thinning the heard"...which would result in BOTH federations struggling.

Also, as we've seen with the PDI...not exactly a mass exodus of pro's going over to compete. Pro's generally want to compete and be compared to the best in the world..they happen to be in the IFBB.

Only BIGTIME money would/ could change things as they did with the WBF. Athletes will go where the money is...plain and simple.

I GUESS WE DISAGREE AGAIN BOB...THERE ARE PLENTY OF PROS...LOOK HOW MANY DO SHOWS YEAR AFTER YEAR AND NEVER HAVE MADE A DOLLAR YOU SAYING THEY AREN'T ANY GOOD? NO THEY JUST NEVER GET A FAIR CALLOUT OR FAIRLY JUDGED......15-20 PROS IN SHOWS TOP 5 MAKE MONEY ..WHAT ABOUT THE REST WHO ARE ALWAYS IN THAT BOTTOM GROUP?....THERE IS ROOM FOR 2 ORGANIZATIONS....WHY HAVEN'T PEOPLE GONE OVER MMMM  THREATS FROM IFBB AND THIER SPONSORS MAYBE THE REASON DON'T YOU THINK......GEE THE STORY I HEARD LAST WEEK ABOUT GOOD OLD (EUROPA DISTRIBUTING) IT JUST AMAZES ME ALL THE TIME...AND WHY THEY WILL NOT BE CARRYING...CEL NEW LINE OF PRODUCT.....AMAZING..... . ???

Lee is a bodybuilder not 6-12mile runner big difference at between those to

Anyone, bodybuilder or not, who doesn't have the basic cardiovascular fitness for a simple 6-mile run is in pathetic shape and in no way deserves to be called an "athlete".

Hope this helps.

Db sorry dude but that was 1 of the stupidest posts I have ever read!!!!  Peyton Manning,Kobe,Arod pick any of them.  None have run 6 miles since jr high track team.  No body runs 6 miles unless they are an endurance athlete.  If Lee could run 6 miles he would not be able to pack on any size.  I was drafted by the then motreal expos, I have never ran over 2 miles in my life.  As a matter of fact nobody I know has run 6 miles unless they were training for a marathon or race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     Chick I know you work for the Ifbb but if you cant see that another choice for pro bb's is a good thing, well never mind.  I dont see how options for these guys could possibly be bad.  Bob loved watching war for the worlds and am a fan of yours but come on man you know this sport, and these guys need all the backing they can get.  Dissapointing!!!!!!!   :'( :-[                 LEE BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!! 8) ;D :D ;)

You taking enough steroids to bulk a racehorse isnt a fair playing field and is seen as cheating in any strength\endurance event that can be termed as a "sport" with "athletes".

Not when all the competition uses also. It is like trying to win a  bench press competition without a shirt when everyone else has one...It aint gona happen.

You've never done 45 minutes worth of cardio? How far do you think you'd run in that amount of time? Unless you're an out-of-shape motherfucker (like most pro bodybuilders) doing a "granny jog" you'd cover 5-6 miles or so.

NOBODY gets your point because you haven’t made one.

Runners are SPECIFIC athletes. No long-distance runners are top level pro bodybuilders.
Pro Bodybuilders are SPECIFIC athletes. No Pro bodybuilders are long-distance runners.

You’re trying to combine and compare different types of SPECIFIC athletics that have nothing to do with each other.
It’s like saying a basketball player isn’t an athlete if he can’t kick a field goal on a football field.

...I know Lee is a Bodybuilder, he just isnt an athlete like he calls himself.

If Priest can’t run 6 miles (which I doubt he can), then you’re right. He’s NOT a runner.
Hence, he’s not a “running athlete.
But, when and where did he ever "call himself" one?

Show me one Offensive Lineman in the NFL that can run 6 miles without dying or stopping for a meal.

6 miles is not a "long distance" run.  I'm surprised at how many people think it is.  You don't have to be a "runner" at all to run this very moderate distance, you just have to be in reasonable cardiovascular shape.

If you can't run that far, you're in shitty cardiovascular shape and have no right to call yourself an "athlete", at least not by how I would define the term.

As usual, I agree with you, Goat.
I also agree that most pro bb’s couldn’t do it.
But it’s all relative.

6 miles isn’t to people like you and me what it is to a guy carrying 200 – 280 lbs. of muscle on a 5’5” - 6" frame.
To excel to that level, they have to sacrifice certain “athletic” abilities that even the average person possesses.

Guys like Lee, Branch and Victor are ALL athletes in their own right (at what they do).
I think it’s unfair to say they AREN’T.
Likewise, you and I can run/jog/trot 6 miles, but are far short of the shredded 250 lb. mark.
I can’t and won’t speak for you, but I’m not a professional runner…
But we’re athletes. NOT PRO, but it does take a certain amount of athleticism for anyone to do 6 miles.
Just ask the guy who sits in an office all day, goes home, watches TV while consuming some beer and pork rinds and then goes straight to bed.

I’m only making the argument that there are different fields of athleticism. NOBODY can excel (or come close to excelling) in them all.
But that doesn’t mean they’re not athletes in their respective fields.
That's all. ;)

BTW – I’m disappointed you haven’t contributed lately to the BB Lookalike thread. Your artwork is THE BEST.
Happy New Year!

Thanks Lee.
THAT IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY!
You (and other top pros) excell in BB, which is why there is no need for you to be conditioned to run.
Not only is there no need, it would be a dumb idea for the reason mentioned in your quote above.

As long as you're not doing an excessive amount of total cardio, why would running be any worse than using a stationary bike or elliptical?

Running is my preferred form of cardio (except in the summer or when it's raining), and I manage to stay above 200 lbs.

Goat, that’s interesting.

I believe 220 – your age = your target heart rate to maintain for 45 min. to an hour (appx.) to best burn fat while maintaining muscle.
Is that about what you’re doing for cardio?
I presume you’re not staying in contest-shape the whole time either. Do you measure BF%

I’m not being cynical, just curious…
