It is not 661 lbs.  I can only venture a guess but based upon the number of reps the guys are getting I would say in the 500 lbs range.

Chris, why would they lie? I am no powerlifter so I am no expert on the numbers.

yeah, i would say 500-550, they said 720 on the show but there's no way guys would be getting 15-16 reps with it because it's the same as a full range deadlift with the bar starting below mid shin.

Makes sense. I was impressed with Pfister.

720 is the weight of the cars, but the weight itself (the cars) are only moving about half as far as the bar itself.

I don't think they are lying, I think they are not fully explaining the matter.  The load at the base of the lever arm may be that much (although that really doesn't make sense as the load being lifted would then be much lighter than I am guessing above) but I do not think that is the load being lifter by the competitor.  I could be wrong.

Remember Curtis Leifler tried his hand at the WSM and he was a bodybuilder if I recall he didn't do that great.

These WSM competitors are something bodybuilders will never be- actual athletes. This isn't meant to be a knock bodybuilders at all either. Its apples and oranges.

exactly...could you imagine Coleman trying to carry that anvil up those 50 steps? He would pass out.

Pudzianowski's strength and speed is unmatched.

There was a time when bodybuilders were much more athletic back in Reeves age , hell Franco was athletic , I recall Priest saying one time in a magazine that his cardio was walking from his car to the gym , times change but no and days bodybuilders can't even hit a 4 minute posing routine without sucking on o2.

This argument gets old.

A strong professional bodybuilder who is reasonably tall could train for WSM competition and probably make a good showing for himself.  It is all about overall bodily strength and then the neuromuscular coordination to channel that strength into the specific events (event training).  You need some conditioning as well to be the best.

Eddie Ellwood made for a respectable strongman competitor.  There are other bodybuilders who have done well.  Can anyone name them?

Gary Taylor did everything, strongman, bodybuilding, olympic lifting and powerlifting, probably the best all around strongman ever.

Curtis was a friend of mine and he told me why.  First off it was the weekend right after the USA's or some show he did and he was totally depleted and had hardly any energy.  Second, is that they made himgo first innearly every event.  He didn't get to watch the others to see the technique and learn from there mistakes.  Curtis is easily one of the strongest BB's ever.  He could keep up with Coleman I am pretty sure injust about every lift.  He kicked ass in the Hawaii Strongman contests.

And the weight they said was being deadlifted with the cars was 661.  I am pretty sure too that they wouldn't lie about the weights being used on national TV.  Those events are pretty well monitored.

fabricated plastic on a metal frame is light weight.  there were no engines/transmissions or interiors on those shitbox cars.
