Possible nervous damage or heart problem
« on: January 03, 2007, 02:59:11 AM »
Yesterday I was working and suddenly I started to feel pressure in my chest, my abdominal muscles started to contract and I had trouble to speak. Then I felt dizziness and my head got very warm. It is the 3rd time I feel it, but this time it was to much to handle. Someone drove me to the hospital and I had to wait 8 hours to be seen by the doctor. During that time I felt 2 or 3 crisis but at a lower scale. Then they x-rayed me and performed an electrocardiogram, they didn't took any blood. The doctor told that it could be musclar involutary contraction, that it wasn't vascular, and that I was tired. Also told me to relax and prescribed me olagur (for muscle relaxing) every 8 hours, and Victan, to put under the tongue everytime I feel the same symptoms. Well I don't trust the treatment I had in the hospital, so I want to go to a specialist in cardiology (probably the best idea).
Does anyone ever felt like this? In the case somemone did what was the treatment?
Is it safe to continue to go to the gym?

I doubt anyone on here will want to risk giving you advice on this one.  Isnt medication for under the tongue usually designed for heart problems?  You should probably go and see a specialist sports doctor who will be able to tell you what you can get away with doing.  whatever you do just be careful!

good luck
It hasn't helped...

Well, I went to 3 doctors, they said that it wasn't a vascular problem, then I asked if it could be something related to the nervous system that could possibly cause me epilepsy (because I am really nervous guy but I have control and I feel some chest pain when I am nervous), they told me that it was not a possibility. All 3 prescribed me with tranquilizers pills, magnesium and painkillers (adalgur). The 2 of them told me that it was my spinal column "crushing" some nerves the reason behind the pain in the chest, and that I should sleep and rest much more, because I was exausted. I am think in going to a sports medicine center, but ir is much expensive, I can't afford it right now. I am not byuing what these doctors said.

Probably nothing similar but a few years ago, after too many drugs for prolonged periods of time I got bad panic attacks.  Symptoms were similar to some extent, hard to breathe, head got hot etc, muscles cramped up, I was a fairly nervous person too.  I thought it was physical but turns out it was physological.  Stopping drugs, esp marijuana sorted the problem out, took over a year though.

Hope for you thats the problem; fairly easy to sort out!  If the doctors all said the same thing why do you not think they are correct?  ??? sports doctor's that expensive?

Yes! A day in a sports medicine center can cost me uo to 500 Eur! I don't know what kind of exams they perform, but I know some bbers and boxers that did it and never paid less than 200 Eur. I will try to save some money to go there. Difficult when you have to pay all the bills and loans, feeding, etc, etc. That is why I have a regular job a sometimes work as security at night clubs (which I don't like).
