So here's the deal. I have decided that from 2007, I will not tip anyone for anything. Darn it, it's your employer's responsibility to pay you, not mine. Why should I tip people? They should be happy cuz you they have a job because of clients like me. They should be the ones grateful to me not the other way around. And if they don't make enough money, why is that my fault? That's between them and their boss. I am sick of these people that have this entitlement complex that think you owe them a living. Why should I get poorer because some ass wants a handout?

Tips actually means To Insure Proper Service. It was only done by business men to insure they would get a good table and service next time they brought clients to that restaurant.  Now it is a joke. Restaurant owners are the riches fuccks around, and we have to pay their employees. They don't even give their employees health insurance. The biggest rip off around.

I can see if its a small mom and pop start up. But if its a big place forget it, don't tip and tell the owner/company to start paying their employees.

I uasually tip 20% if the service is good - if bad no tip or a 1 penny tip....
For massages I tip $ 10 or $ 20 for a $ 80 massage (not a rub and tug)...

I have also walked out of resturants when waiting to long for service - even after ordering a meal, I don't have time for bullshit  8)

if there was no tipping the waiters would either demand a higher hourly wage or would quit.  if the owner gave them the higher hourly wage the owners would just add that cost into your meal and raise the prices.  tipping is too engrained in america's society to change.

and you can always not tip, but the service will be even worse the next time if you go to a place on a regular basis.  and i'm never inclined to piss people off that are handling my food out of my eyesight.

any restaurant grossing over a certain amount per year, say a million, should be required by law to pay their employees.
Enough said.

well, there is a minimum wage, so they are paying them.  but when we start raising the required wage we get into socialism and start messing with the free market, and thats a slippery slope.  and nyc im sure you know a few things about slippery slopes

You just contradicted yourself with that last statement.  The big restaraunt corporations are the ones making millions.  The small single person owned restaraunts take years to make any money and almost half the time they end up selling within 3 years of opening.  So your statement "restaraunt owners are the richest fucks around" is totally untrue.  I have been working in the restaraunt and bar business for 12 years and I can assure you that the owners making tons of money are few and far between.  I'ts a tough business believe me.

Why moose and not elk or donkey ???

I find that people who do not tip well are not very good at attracting money into their lives either. It's like the law of attraction at work.

Yeah, good luck.  I like when someone insists on charging another $1 per egg, like their made of gold.  I was in a pizza place the other day and asked for grilled chicken, she said they didn't have it.  After browsing the menu, I saw a pasta dish with "grilled chicken".  So I said, you have it right here.  She said, "No, you only get that with the chicken alfredo."
Brilliant!

Not just that. But some places, waiters/waitresses are TAXED hourly for "tips" that they may not get. So not tipping is not cool.

Like I said, I have NO problem tipping. Just EARN the fucking money.

First of all, if you are going to a restaraunt that serves chicken alfredo as an entree, you are going to a shitty restaraunt like the Olive Garden or some other shit Italian chain and you should expect an idiot for a server.  Stop supporting those kinds of places.  Second of all, if you cant afford 1 dollar for an extra egg than you shoul just make your goddamn eggs at home.  At least that way you can buy better quality eggs.

i know a guy who pretty much calculates how much the bill will be beforehand and lays out the corresponding tip, in one dollar bills, on the counter.  then he explains to the server "this is your tip right now, but it may not stay that way" and he takes away a dollar for every misstep the server makes.  pretty funny.  i've seen him do it once and the tip ended up being the same.

Sure, but meanwhile, in the back, the waiter and the cook are having a great time fucking with your food.  :-\

How can you guys not tip? Thats how they make a living. I just got Outback carryout and the bill was 18 and I gave the young lady 25 total and all she did was bring it to my car. You can't take money with you, and I am assuming most of you guys make "easy" money cuz you can post on here while you work, so why not help out the people with the shitty jobs that no one else wants? What you guys should be complaining about is welfare cases. I can't stand people who want money for nothing >:(

Anyone who can't understand that the act of "tipping" benefits the servee more than the server should go to a nice restaraunt in a country that doesn't practice it.

I will tip, but I'm not giving jackshit to some bitch/asshole that gives me a nasty attitude and overall bad service. Just the other day, this mexican made me a nice sandwich at Subway so I tipped him 2 dollars. If resteraunt service is good then I always tip atleast $10-20.

I think the restaurants and bars around me are different. I go to low price places and high price places, and the wait staff is almost always nice and the chicks good looking no matter where I go. Plus there is something nice about going to the same bar a few times a week and never having an empty glass and getting  espn turned on at "our tv" cuz the waitress knows that between the 3 or 4 of us she is going to get at least 70 bucks that night. But, I have heard that people in NY are very rude, so I have no idea how I would treat such people.
