How can you guys not tip? Thats how they make a living. I just got Outback carryout and the bill was 18 and I gave the young lady 25 total and all she did was bring it to my car. You can't take money with you, and I am assuming most of you guys make "easy" money cuz you can post on here while you work, so why not help out the people with the shitty jobs that no one else wants? What you guys should be complaining about is welfare cases. I can't stand people who want money for nothing >:(

Like the young lady that just brought the bag to youre car ??

A lot more work goes into being a restaurant employee than people who have never worked in one could possibly imagine.

I just gave this bitch a buck. If that doesn't give her a hint, then there is no hope for her.

i know a guy who pretty much calculates how much the bill will be beforehand and lays out the corresponding tip, in one dollar bills, on the counter.  then he explains to the server "this is your tip right now, but it may not stay that way" and he takes away a dollar for every misstep the server makes.  pretty funny.  i've seen him do it once and the tip ended up being the same.

I think that's stupid.

I hardly ever tip unless I recieve excellent service.

With a name like "Camel Jockey" that doesn't surprise me.

If we didn't tip, mexicans would have even more jobs to flood our country for, so tipping is good trust me. I was raised to be a good tipper, and that aint ever gonna change.

I totally agree, until you have had people bitch because they wanted their water room temperature, and complained there is too much pepper or soemething in a sauce on their dish, or demand their meal be free because they made up some stupid reason to be mad and are just taking advantage of the system, you will never understand. I worked as a server for a couple weeks, not for me.

I love being a server...made the mistake of getting into it at 18 and now at 41, i'm still doing it...it is absolutely the easiest money to be made. I'm fortunate now that i work somewhere that i do NOT have to put up with jackasses and if i want to make a comment about the money they left (or did not leave) i can...best part is i know it wasn't me, some people just do not have any restaurant etiquette.

Your guy sounds like a weirdo, sounds very easy going and fun to be with.  I dont serve food but if any asshole explained to me about the money laid out on the table in that manner I would take the money from him and then tell the fool to get the f*ck out.

I have found that 20% is good if I have the cash on me.  The more I give, the more I seem to make.  If I act cheap and selfish, than I have found that I make less money, and less opportunity comes my way.  I'm very happy to tip, and tip well just to perhaps make someone else's day.

Well, how about the restaurants that "ADD" 20% gratuity right to your bill.  You have no say about what you want to leave and the service could be great or it could completely suck.   Now that...pisses me off!  >:(  A tip is something EARNED, not something that should just be EXPECTED and paid regardless of quality of service.

So here's the deal. I have decided that from 2007, I will not tip anyone for anything. Darn it, it's your employer's responsibility to pay you, not mine. Why should I tip people? They should be happy cuz you they have a job because of clients like me. They should be the ones grateful to me not the other way around. And if they don't make enough money, why is that my fault? That's between them and their boss. I am sick of these people that have this entitlement complex that think you owe them a living. Why should I get poorer because some ass wants a handout?

You ignorant, dumbfvck, cheapskates!!!

Has all "dem ILLEGAL 'roids and rec.drugs" you BB drug freaks shoot-up on, constantly, destroyed your brain cells...seems like it has!??

If you've ever worked as a waiter, or in a similar position, then you would probably have more than the "double-digit IQ" IGNORANT level of knowledge to realize that these people are usually paid ONLY the minimum wage (or very close to it!) and rely HEAVILY on tips to literally "survive".  Duhhh...try making a living on JUST the minimum wage, dumbfvck!

Many hard-working, law-abiding, honest, waiters are often students struggling to get through school while working part-time, and some also have families to support.  Anyway, practically all of these individuals usually desperately NEED the added tip-income to supplement the minimum hourly wage paid by their greedy, stingy, employers!

However, I guess all of these individuals working in positions which rely heavily on tipping to "survive" could turn to illegal drug-dealing and getting/trading  blow-jobs from/with fags to make a living, instead...like all of you competitve BB "superstars/wannabes"!?

All guys that are waiters, have you seen how the owners of your establishments live? The restaurantors that I know are rich, live in expensive Manhattan apartments or big Conneticut mansions. They act all middle class in front of their staff but believe me they are loaded. Have you ever asked them for health insurance, or how about a decent salary? The public shouldn't be paying your salary your employer should. Believe me he can afford it.

TIPS means To Insure Proper Service. It has nothing to do with paying waiters salaries. It was only done by wealthy regular customers that planned on returning and wanted a good table and good service to impress friends, clients etc.
