It's different in CANADA than it is in the STATES, Matt C...
In America...it is 100% 'okay' and legit for a black man to make fun of...call racial names to and play the game against whites...it is 100% NOT OKAY for a white man to do the same.
In 1997 in Chicago...a 13yr old BLACK teen was in my neighborhood taunting and 'talkin shit' toa group of teenage white kids. Result? Black kid got his ass kicked. Result from that? It made national headlines for months and the kids who beat him up went to jail.
The day the story broke out on the news...cops told me there were about a dozen 'retaliation' crimes of blax at random beating white people including a 44yr old woman at a bus stop "just because". Result? never ever made the paper or news and nobody had a comment on it...not even the biggest extortionist race-baiter that ever lived...Jesse Jackson.
Sounds like the Rodney King beating. Then again, years and years of people like Rodney King being beaten resulted in those retaliation crimes, not just the isolated incident. How do you think that kind of attitude towards blacks affects the psyche of a black person?
HOWEVER, it is one thing when a black man gets dealt the race card, it is another thing entirely when they deserve it. In Canada, Native Canadians are our black people - where the government protects them as much as possible, but when the day is over, they are the ones being treated poorly by everyone else. Don't kid yourself - just because the US government protects black people doesn't mean they have it easier than we do! They may have that protection but have to deal with a host of other problems in day to day life. I would rather have the government ignore my needs and be treated better (thanks to being white), than be a black person in the USA. While I am opposed to people being dealt the race card and admit that it must play a huge role in damaging one's motivations, there is NO EXCUSE for not being mentally tough about it - NO EXCUSE. I don't care if you were beaten and raped every day of your life, if you aren't out there trying to make the best of your circumstance, you are not a winner in my book. I had a rough childhood in a house full of unloving family and had to tolerate years of yelling and dysfunction, not to mention horrible peer influences in school, and it never stopped me from trying my best in life. Now people who meet me would have no clue of some of the stuff I had to deal with growing up. Why? Because I am mentally strong and have CHARACTER, and it doesn't matter what my circumstance, I will always be a winner.
All of the Natives I met this year met the stereotype to perfection and I don't feel sorry for any of the ones I met. It's one thing being the victim of racism and trying your best to try to be the best person you can be - it's another thing entirely to be your own worst enemy and continually perpetrate the stereotypes that are being held against your race and keeping you down in life in general.
Matt you were banned from Ironage because you didn't follow the rules NOT because of the link to the word ' negro ' lets be honest
Do I personally think Ronnie is ' racist ' ? NO however if Jay or any other white bodybuilder would have said that he would have been labeled a racist in a New York minute , so if whats is good for the goose it should also be for the gander
It strikes me just plain odd why he would say its just another whites mans opinion , what does that imply? what was the sense in pointing out his race? its a really odd statement.
I agree, it is an odd statement.

Not something I'd personally make a fuss over, but I have to admit I don't understand it, and you are right that Jay would be up shit creek if he said it. Ronnie was as humble as Jay for the longest time, but I think winning for so long made him pretty cocky. I hope he gets brought back down to earth and avoids any further statements like the one he made.
PS - my banishment from ironage.us. Discuss.
