« on: January 15, 2007, 02:11:06 PM »
Let's here it from you veterans of the iron game!

I have driven myself to the brink of throwing up many times.

No man ever dared to keep up with me.

just push some weight!

I have never even come close to throwing up, It's a myth perpetuated by the Animal Pak crowd.

Squats: 5 sets pyramiding up to 315 for 10 below parallel squats
Front Squats: 5 sets up to 275 for 8
Leg Press: 5 sets up to 8 plates a side then drop set a plate every time I failed down to one plate a side
Hack Squats: 5 sets up to 6 plates then same drop set as leg press
Leg extensions: 5 sets up to 200 lbs then same drop set back down to 90 lbs

Stiff Deadlifts: up to 225
single leg curls: up to 120 lbs per leg

I seriously passed out for a few seconds.  Vision narrowed down to nothing.  Took me a half hour to get together to leave the gym.  The weights are not monstrous but the drop sets were killer and are more painful than I ever would have imagined.

I have felt like being sick, usually due to alcohol consumption the night before, but have never been sick training.  If the food is paid for it is not coming back up  :P

i don`t like that intense training not so much, because i`m a natural trainer in his mid 40`s  :(. For that reason i only use heavier weights
from workout to workout, and only look to get more reps than the training before.... :-[

Today i want to train intense but at "that damn rep No. 12" one 110 lbs/50 kg plate leaved the machine. That`s not a problem... the problem is that a friend of mine filmed a part of that set.....wanna see....

I trained arms with a MASSIVE rugby player once. It was the most intense workout of my life. My arms have never felt so pumped ever since. It was awesome!

thx Alexx    but the truth is, i`m only a "old boy" who like to go to the gym, and "play the iron-game".

I see so many good Bodybuilders,Powerlifter,Strongman training, my observation was that the training intensity varity was as big than
like us "usual guys".

The gym where i trained today (Fitness-Factory Düsseldorf, Germany) is one of the best equiped Gyms in Europe....The owner know me for a while, and let me train for free today (but i have no problem to pay my training like everybody else...).

when i learned one thing, it is "everything is important". Most important, "you have to love what you do/train". it`s a pleasure to put effort in every trainings session.... 8)

I started a cycle of HST after a layoff from an injury -- figured the 15 rep protocol would be low impact enough to ramp me back up slowly.  Holy crap, by the time I got to deadlifts for 15 reps I had to lay down afterwards for about 30 minutes, laying there panting in an ever-growing puddle of sweat.  Just couldn't move without wanting to puke everywhere.

And I've made my self intensely dizzy and nauseous dozens of times on leg day.  One leg day I thought I gave myself an anerysm -- was doing a variation of a Tom Platz leg press set, heavy weight for 1 minute non stop, rest 1 minute, repeat (he did it straight for 5 minutes, but I'm not Tom Platz).  Got to almost the end of set #4 and felt an explosion of pain behind my left eye and saw a blinding flash of light in my eye.  And then I eeked out 3 more reps.  That workout sucked.

i can't imagine that amount of volume and that amount of intensity could be good for you...  you can train long...or you can train hard...but you can't do both-Mike Mentzer
