High Cholesterol
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:06:29 PM »
I blood work done a couple months ago and I found out I have high cholesterol.  Its at 248, which by the chart they sent along with the results normal levels are under 199.  I am only 26 and I'm around 15% bf. I have a doc appointment coming up soon but does anyone know what this could mean for me long term?  I have been feeling sluggish and worn out for a while now but not enough to alarm me until I got these results back.

What does you diet look like?

Eat more vegetables, cut down fat and switch to more omega3-fatty acids and omega6 fatty acids.

You can supplement with CLA, too.

They way I understand it, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, "bad cholesterol" is a hard, natural band aid your body places on the inside of your veins and arteries when they crack.  This is how your body saves you from bleeding to death internally.  Once the crack has healed, the "bad cholesterol" or band aid is no longer needed, but will stay there until the liquid, "good cholesterol" passes through and washes away the hard, "bad cholesterol".

1. To prevent your veins and arteries from cracking, increase the vitamin C in your diet.  I'm not just talking pills, but mostly whole foods like fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamin C.

2. Exercise more.  Exercise increase "good cholesterol" which helps get rid of the "bad cholesterol" in your body.

3. Eat clean.

After doing all of the above, some people still suffer from high cholesterol.  It's a genetic thing.  These people have to take medication even after changing their life style.

Hope you get better!  Good luck to ya!

No no cycle of anything the only thing I've ever tried was Superdrol and that has been about a year and a half ago.  I'm not on any meds for anything, never have been except for maybe strep throat or a sinus infection here and there.

I dont know what could cause it, I could really clean up my diet to be honest.  I workout three times a week now but have gone as high as five times a week in the past.  Also I have a moderate-to-high physically demanding job with alot of walking involved.  I wouldnt worry but like I said in my original post I feel sluggish and tired almost all the time.  When I lift in the morning I feel like shit until I get about fifteen minutes into it and then I can usually hold a high energy level until around lunch time and then its all downhill from there.  Some days I almost feel sick by the time I get off work and then right around bedtime my energy level seems to be around a normal level.

Cholesterol levels are mostly due to genetics. The best you can do for your diet is to add fish oil, evening primose oil, flax oil( all 3 - twice a day - during the day and before bad, and lots of it) niacin 500 mg once a day , an aspirin pill before bed as well.Try to eat as less animal fats as posible.Stay away from hormones! Do this for a month and do the lipid profile again - if there is no change - you need to visit the doctor and get some prscriptional drugs which will put the cholesterol levels in norm.

P.S.  Nicotine and alchohol can affect cholesterol levels as well.
