Well, I guess they can look in the mirror to whatever consequences may come their way....not the smartest move I've seen.

MD is falling apart. they used to hate on the forums, then tried to build their own to 'take over'.  now they're bribing people to post there, hating on all other forums...

another 6 months, that place will be a ghost town and they'll shrink it down or kill it.  when people are real jerks, their true colors show when they run something.

MD was alright until they started having a booty section and a walking oil tanker in the magazine.

Ahaha, I remember in the issues before "PAGE 69", Belchman and Co. used to rip on the other mags for putting T&A in their mags. Then what shows up the next month? Tits and ass.  :-\

I know what you mean, but it's not possible to compete with BB.com.  BB.com owns all.  Ryan Deluca is God.  :D

MD online is making one mis-step after another with their online presence.

They had an opportunity to do something unique to their brand, especially with all the pros they have under contract. Starting an online store and alienating advertisers in the process is not a smart move.

Let's not try to start a war where there is not one.  BB.com is a good client of ours and their business is appreciated.  Fact is that we like what they are doing with their forums and how successful they have been in building a community.  That being said, they are pretty strict rule wise on their forums and that does not appear to hamper their success.

From BB.com's rules...

2) There is no advertising allowed on the forum, and posting links to outside vendors is not allowed. This board is run and sponsored by Bodybuilding.com, but we want the truth about the products, good or bad, to be posted here so you can make a smart decision.

You are welcome to post links to the cyberstore within the site, but we do not allow discussion of other supplement store sites for obvious reasons. If you attempt to post about other stores, you may notice they are blocked out with asterisks (***). Although you are welcome to discuss any manufacturer?s products, you may not publicly display other places to purchase these products.

Now that we have a supplement store of our own, we are in the same position as they are with our forums.  This was not a deliberate act of aggression against BB.com.

People shouldn't forget about this... Romano launched his little war on Getbig in MD... He took it to the magazines and did a few articles  pushing the idea that only people who post their face and real names should post.  Pretty much came unglued on message boards...  So that worked worth a shit not so they make their own forum I'm guessing to get everyone to post over there so they can be the control masters.  They have the balls to post promos for their message board on getbig after attacking getbig in MD...  So they go from bitching about the no bull attitude of getbig to thinking they pattenend the idea... Oh brother... What a confused mess...  What the hell are they really trying to do?  yea...

Maybe they realize that print publishing will not survive long-term, and believe that their best bet is to earn money by selling supplements themselves rather than by taking advertising dollars from those who do? This could be a major change in thier entire business model.  If it isn't, and is just intended as a sideline to earn some extra cash, I agree it is very stupid.  Hell, even if it is, it has been very poorly executed so far.

You may be right about MD trying to change over its business model completely.  But if that is the case, why are they blind drop shipping from http://www.apollocommerce.com?  That leads me to believe they are just doing it for a few extra bucks on the side.  However, maybe they will exit the drop ship program once they build up a big enough clientelle.

Should I buy the Doritos at 7-Eleven instead of Wal-Mart?

Actually we're just looking to keep expanding our presence as well as the value that we provide to our readers and clients.  No more no less.

Do you need a complete expanation of why we chose a partner to help us accomplish that and bring that value through as quickly and professionally as possible as well?   ::)

Exactly what I told them! They need to call 240 -- he's got a PROFESSIONAL level ecommerce system all ready to go.
Dude why lie - it's not 240. It's you with the "professional level ecommerce system". Stop being so modest. YOU're the man - don't forget it.
