The last time I went back to my native country I saw several big spiders living in my house. They were harmless and kept the rooms free of other pests. Also they were pretty big, some almost as big as my palm. They weren't Tarantula because they were pretty skinny and didn't have much hair.

Bottom line is that spiders scare the fuck outta me, but they're animals I have a lot of respect for.

Nope, I'm not Pakistani. I was born in Queens NY, but I've visited Bangladesh several times, each time staying a few months. I consider Bangladesh and West Bengal my native homeland, as it is my place of origin. I'm not like you. Aren't your parents from Norway or something? Don't you consider yourself Norwegian?

No, native relates to your place of birth. My heritage is Norwegian, but I am a native of England.

Well, it's same way with me, but to me native has always meant my ethnic background/heritage. I do consider the US my home though, best fucking country in the world.

My cousin had a big tarantula. It was a pretty cool spider I used to hold it and it never tried to bite or anything. He cleaned out itscage one time and it died the next day. I guess he didnt get all of the cleaning stuff out. I have never had one (my fiance hates them) but I have had a couple of lizards my last was a Nile Monitor That was a mean fucker she hissed at all of my friends and would only let me touch her. The power went out here due to an ice storm and she got too cold for to long and died.

what the f**k are they?

They are some form of Sandspiders, they are actually not that big, if you look closely at that picture you can see that it is an closeup (see the hand on the top) They are locked into a fight, mildly venous it at all and harmless.

Thank you, and Nina says thank you too  ;)

Nina is awesome pretty, she molted a couple of month ago and the colors still look very vibrant, I don't touch her because If I do she kicks hair at me and the result is a ugly bald patch on the back of her abdomen.

There's a few vids of them eating lizards on youtube.

The thing with camel spiders is that they are so fucking alien looking! That's what freaks people out.

HOLY SHIT STARK.... BADASS!!!

Brachypelma smithi

Mexican Redknee Tarantulas are hardy, docile, long living and make great pet tarantulas for the beginner or advanced spider keeper.  They are native to the scrublands and deserts of the pacific side of Mexico.  They are terrestrial and found near natural cover like cacti, bushes, logs, rocky areas, and other natural debris.

Maximum size: 5”-6” :o

Life span: Up to 25 years.    :o 25 years!!!!

Lighting: Specialized reptile lights for viewing nocturnal animals would be a good choice.  Avoid basking type lighting, as tarantulas do not normally appreciate the light or the added heat they produce.

Temperature range: Day 70° to 90° F

Food:  Crickets and an occasional pinkie mouse.

Water: A shallow, wide container of clean water should always be available.

Housing/Habitat: Their natural habitat can be simulated with a 5 to 10 gallon aquarium.  The bottom of the aquarium should be covered with 3 to 5 inches of vermiculite, potting soil, peat moss, or sand. The substrate needs to be deep enough to facilitate burrowing and it is important to provide hiding places.

coool heh? ;D

Only females can life that long, keep in mind that every time they molt there is a risk that some of the old skin still is attached to the body and she will die of complications.
I lost already one spider like this, but the older they get the less they molt, and the older they get the more calm they get (usually) it's like when they get to their maximum size and age.... what are they afraid off? Nothing ;D

I have seen A fully grown T fight a mouse, and guess who won... the stupid mouse ran around even sniffing at the T's legs, she just waited for the right moment and WHAAAAMMM, a Tarantula's venom is very effective regarding any critter like a mouse rats and so forth.
It does sweet fuck all to a human unless you are allergic to it, but it kills a mouse in a matter of minutes, still it's very risky to feed a life mouse since they can keep up a good fight and maybe even hurt a Tarantula.
