Bob,

Well done on the radio show first off. What I want to know is what are your comments in regards to Franco`s assesment of GH and Insulin as well as the high usage of other Drugs ruining bodybuilding.

Do you agree or disagree and what are your thoughts?

In an ideal situation, what would you like to see happen regarding this issue? The continuation of such usage?

I agree 100%...The direction the judging goes will dictate where the BBers go...much like womens BB, If the judges keep rewarding a physique that isnt marketable...then mens BB will meet the same fate.

Reward a small waist with higher placings...mark down for GH gut, etc....seems simple to me.

There is nobody showing up looking like An Arnold or a Zane, Sergio.

They are just judging whatever crap is coming their way. And the majority of it is crap.

If there are any reliable indications that Dexter Jackson would be more marketable than Ronnie Coleman [other than being able to speak English], I haven't seen them.

Bodybuilding is a hobby of and for freaks. "Real" people understand this instinctively. No one is fooling them with a narrow waist.

Franco may have a point about physiques deteriorating in many ways today, but it's a bit irritating when the old timers always think everything was better in their day. I'm sure many felt Franco winning with legs that looked like sausages and massive gyno was a "bad for bodybuilding". Franco was probably regarded as a mass monster and steroid abuser in his day.

IMO bringing that up specifically with Franco would have been pointless. The competitor presents themselves to the judges and the judges make the call, the competitors need not explain nothin...

Actually, what Chick SHOULD HAVE asked him was that when Franco made the comment about Tom Platz being given first place because the judge was his friend, how does he explain Arnold getting first place from virtually every judge who was his "friend" at the 1980 Mr. Olympia.

I'm sure that would've been taboo though.

There's a fine line with being PC, putting a man on the spot, trying to publically embarass, and showing some class, being respecful and maintaining proper decorum when asking questions to a legend of our sport....

The last thing we are trying to do is put someone on the spot, or publicly humiliate anyone...it's not good radio and would lend greatly to getting fewer and less "star appeal" on the show....we ask tough questions, but fair ones and it shows with our continued and growing support of the show.

If Franco doesn't want to explain why his flaws don't matter then it's a boring interview. Every long winded story he told I've already read about in Arnold's books.

Nah,,,,c'mon man. Reward the freaks! Gut shmut.....I say keep pushin it brothers. You look at some shots of Coleman from the side watching his torso expand like a prego lady 8 months along, then theres Ruhl hell even our boy Jay w/his better than average "control" can let it flow from time to time. Point is all these men are close. They have pushed the envelope and it shows. The sport could very well detioriate before a true, true meanace of mass hits the stage. I mean some insane fool that has literaly went above and beyond all things nature will allow. And until this freak steps out there dying w/each breath,,,,,REWARD OUR FREAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get what you're saying, Chick, and that's true. But you got to admit, there must've been some burning question(s) you wanted to ask, but couldn't.

I'm sure if you did, Franco would've ran to Arnold, told his experience on PBW, and Arnold would've cancelled. Wouldn't want that.

Bodybuilders are the same in any generation.. they're great.. just ask them! I wish I had a dollar for everytime you hear that a BB is in their all time best condition in leading up to a show. As if Franco is going to say that he didn't deserve the win and his legs due to injury were below standard

Keep in mind with guests of Franco and Arnold's calibur, I am sure they could be doing other things than appearing on a BB show.. They don't need to keep a career in the news.
