I don't know... doesn't seem so worthless to me, considering this partial list of people who've been honored. Arafat was awarded the prize jointly with Peres and Rabin at a time when peace in the middle east seemed attainable through their efforts. Whether you like it or not, Jimmy Carter was a proponent for "decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development."
