Good question.

Tough to answer though. Shawn never really came in OFF.

From 94 till he retired IMO he looked great at every single O

Hard pick. It's gonna be between 93, 94, 96 or 97. I'm sure Shawn will agree with this.

1992 (Yate's first win)  I thought Shawn looked awesome, should have been 2nd.  1994 and 1996 I thought he should have won the Mr. O.

I just watched his '94 Olympia routine and his conditioning looked pretty sick.  The only other Olympia video of his on youtube is the '97 and he looked smooth.

from those pictures its so hard to tell, he came in shape every year. has to be the most consistant bblder ever. never came in w/torn muscles/missing body parts. his conditioning was spot on for the most part. wonder what Shawn thinks his peak year was? 94?

That's funny that you left 95 out, In terms of condition 95 tops ;)

I'd say '95.

I want Shawn to see this thread and reply.

Sometimes it seems like the guy comes off as a prick on these boards with the Milos drama specifically, but you can't deny this guy is one of the greatest bodybuilders ever.

Shawns is in his early 40's right?  Why not make a comeback?  I bet replicating your physique of the past isn't as hard as you think it would be.  Or maybe you had some medical problems that forced you to retire?

2000 olympia.

watch him in the battle for the olympia vid, especially when he does the most muscular pose at the end and holds it.

perfect muscle shape, massive muscles (especially arms)...it made me think how does this guy not win an olympia his physique was perfect.... pure perfection.

Shawn was alot like Dexter as he really didn't have any bad showings. Maybe one Olympia he was sharper than another but he was never off.

1994.

You could argue he should have won, much much smaller than yates though.

Definitely more complete.

Shawns is in his early 40's right?  Why not make a comeback?  I bet replicating your physique of the past isn't as hard as you think it would be.  Or maybe you had some medical problems that forced you to retire?

Dude, I retired because I was FULL. ;D
I wanted to begin life after the stage, I wanted to start a family, etc.
I am now and have always been, healthy as a horse.
When I left the stage, there was really no where to go but down. The industry was changing, more dangerous drugs and Guru's were coming into the game.
I didn't want to play it anymore. :-\
That being said, let me set the stage for my last year 2001:
* Levrone, was allowed to compete after Wayne D and Jim M decided he was ineligable due to not signing up for the 01' Pro Season then later not signing the Entry form for the Mr. O (One should have canceled out the other but here is the rules being bent and changed last minute)
 I was tired of that.
Later, Cutler FAILS the Diuretic Test meaning: Disqualification, Forfiture or Prize Money and Placement. Neither of these two things happend (Bent Rules again) at the Threat of a Law Suit.
If the rules were enforced, I would have finished in 2nd Place and would have still retired due to what my personal plans for my life were at the time.
I was just tired of how the Rules were being bent and changed, knowing I was DQ and forfited the prize money in 90' by the same ruling bodies in charge.
If the Rules, which are apparently in place to protect the integrity of the contest are constantantly being bent or changed during the show, I wanted no more part of it and left with my belly full and my plate empty.  :P
Healthier and wiser because of my early departure, I'd leave the stage at 36 again due to the life I have now.
No regrets.

Well said. So what do you think was your best year at the Mr. O?

I say 1994. No weakpoints that year at all.

I have to say, 94. ;D
I thought I looked, felt and trained the best at any other time in my career but when it was Olympia time, I always rose to the occasion and enjoyed the journey very much!
I had some great training partners and some adversaries that brought out the best in me, not to mention going up against some very critical judges! :-*
Thanks,
S. Ray
