OMG Playboy, ...I think we might have met before. If you've attended, we have definately crossed paths.
I used to sell a woman's intimacy product... infact, our company pioneered it, and brought it to the masses, ...and we held a lot of passion parties as well. Most often we would simply recruit the reps who did them, and they represented toys, lingerie, as well as our product. massive sales in one night cause all the women came to buy.
When I was a distributor with a different company, we used to work the Show every year. One of the guys in our downline had a video store (I won't say what kind of videos) ...but he rents a HUGE booth there every year. The traffic is wild. There's the really big one - "The Everything to Do with Sex Show" that usually happens around Hallowe'en in the automotive building at the CNE, then there's the Spring Fever Show as well. Met Charlie Sheen's former mistress there. Infact, I think she was a co-sponsor of the show. This was before he married Denise Richards. When I saw the accusations in the Enquirer years later.. I thought ...uh-oh. Those shows are just WILD!!!! We've got some crazy pics from those shows., but they were invalueable. We'd take a new rep there, and in one weekend, they got a 1 yr. crash course in how to talk about the business, AND the product. No nervous giggles when they had to mention an anatomical part or explain how to use the product. when there are LIVE naked people walking around in front of you, you lose all self-consciousness. It's a great training ground for new reps and to facilitate team bonding. Everyone is so mellow, uninhibited, adventurous and RECEPTIVE. It was hilarious, I loved playing dumb to alot of the signals and symbols shot my way, ...but hey... whatever floats peoples boats.
One year, I got us a booth right next to the oyster bar, (MAJOR TRAFFIC with nothing to do but wait in line) Of course the line went right in front of our booth, giving them plenty of time to fill out our ballots. All we did was collect leads. We put together a HUGE gift basket we called our "Arousal kit" ...chock full of all sorts of products, we even went around to other show exhibitors and got them to donate contents for our arousal kit along with their business cards of course, and we had people fill out a ballot to win the kit. Over the course of the show, we had at least 30 huge green garbage bags filled with nothing but leads from our target market (name, phone, eMail addies, and an indication if they are interested in the product, the business opportunity, or both).
Speaking of which... I outta tap that list again, ...see how many of them are open to a new biz op.
